  1. I realized that my last two "Bronze Age" posts have actually been ASM books from the late 1960s so I figured I better get with the program and post an actual Bronze Age book that's new to my collection.
  2. I doubt that ASM #19 is anyone's favorite cover, but it's one of the early issues that can still be found for a reasonable price in high grade.
  3. Recent ASM #78 win I had been hunting for a while in 9.6 for a reasonable price.
  4. With white pages, great centering and already looks like a 9.8, that's a keeper. Such a classic cover. Congratulations!
  5. Thanks. The overall apparent high grade look of this book is what drew me to it, but I'm also very happy I received the 9.6 grade. I bought it online already restored and finally sent it to CGC. I didn't get any of the history behind the restoration or pictures of its original state. That would have been cool to see, though. I think you're correct. You generally have to start with a pretty high end book to achieve this level of results, which can be a very questionable move financially given the huge sums of money paid for unrestored keys.
  6. I finally get to participate. I have sooooo many holes in my FF collection.
  7. I was reading about CGC acquiring JSA for autograph authentication of cards and was wondering if they might eventually roll out this service for comics. If that ever happens, I wonder if JSA authenticated signatures (like the one on your AF 15) would then become Signature Series books instead of just a note on the label. Having the note on the label would add value in theory (depending on how you try to sell it, if you ever do), but a Signature Series label would add a lot more value. When you get to that point, I would take a mini vacation to FL and fly with it given the high value of the book.
  8. This is an absolutely gorgeous set you've assembled. I'm sure it has been a fun process. I love this GOOM! cover.
  9. I agree. Such a great foe. Without giving away the ending for someone who hasn't read it, I laugh now when I think about how Spider-Man defeated and "contained" the Sandman at the end of issue #4.
  10. This is my favorite ASM cover of all time (AF #15 is in its own category) and this book is heating up (or just plain hot) in higher grades. I first saw an ASM #4 as a kid at B&D Comics in Roanoke, VA in the early 1980s. It was in a glass revolving showcase and it was $75. That was a lot of money to me as a kid so I didn't buy it and all I could do was dream of owning one. I've owned several since then starting with a bargain $20 mail order purchase that I no longer have. This CGC 9.0 is the best I've come up with so far.
  11. My FF #27 is a bit of a Frankenstein science project, but still pretty.
  12. I'm slowly working on the early Nintendo Power issues.
  13. I'll jump in with an entry from the Iron Man era.
  14. It's surprising that the Chameleon did not appear in more Spider-Man stories. Maybe it's because he wasn't as visually interesting as Doctor Octopus, the Sandman, the Green Goblin and others.
