  1. Yeah, I had only seen a small Rey sketch before and he also did an Ahsoka for these commissions, but afaik no Marvel SW work. One of the reasons I asked him for Sabine instead of like Black Cat or Harley who he has done a bunch.
  2. I forget sketches are allowed in these parts! Sabine by Jeehyung Lee !
  3. Sabine Wren by Jeehyung Lee (went a tad pole-vaulty on the saber lol, but love seeing his style on SW!)
  4. Finally scored one of them quick con sketch by Adam Hughes (colors by Alison Sohn) thanks to @DELTA 62's always stellar facilitation!
  5. "Perfect" is obviously subjective, but this one is close to my perfect for this book. One of my favorite Hughes covers -- I have only ever seen it signed around her head and imo it always detracted from the image. (Shouts to @DELTA 62 for the facilitation!)
  6. You could ask for a partial, but the seller did kinda cover themselves with that spiel in the listing description. They might point to that or offer a return (if they provide those). I have plenty of slabs with comparable or worse damage than what you have pictures and they don't cost me sleep at night, but lots of people prefer/require spotless slabs and would probably choose to reholder if attempts at a partial failed. Personally I'd take the small L because we're talking about damage to the holder and not the book. And you clearly want to keep the item. If a seller didn't describe defects on a raw or on a book inside the slab (eg the book obviously doesn't match the grade, damaged in transit) I'd return/escalate no question.
  7. Sounds like you just worked it out on your own here. The organized Jedi Order no longer exists. The rules of training are out the window. We can just assume that Ahsoka trained Sabine due to her relation to the Ghost Crew AND Sabine wanting to train. I have tons of problems with not knowing what their relationship during early training (and the break up) was like that would have served as a baseline for their interactions we see during this season, but zero problem with the idea of Sabine being trained to unlock the force. We have seen Sabine training with the dark saber (and fighting with Ezra's saber) and her force sensitivity was even a point of discussion in Rebels -- so it's just not as big a leap as if Ahsoka were training Hondo or Huyang or something out of left field. IMO, the failure of this aspect not landing 100% is down to how it was delivered dramatically in the show.
  8. I think all the actors are fine, it's just that chemistry still requires decent writing -- for all we know Hayden and Portman could have been good together if not for Lucas. I think the series has had a lot of scenes with weird interactions that were weird on the page. Like in this ep... Anyway, having laid into this show again I feel obligated to also express how much fun this series is as a SW/Rebels fan. I could nitpick it to death if I gave into cynicism. Thankfully that urge is super low.
  9. Kanan 6 sold more in Sep than Aug, but within the usual range ($300ish). There was a little rush on raw copies of Mace Windu 5 (Ahsoka cameo) in last couple weeks. Nothing crazy. You can get Kanan 1 at 9.8 cheaper now than even six months ago. I think there are more seller who put up their Kanan slabs in anticipation of the show giving it a bump and end up selling them, but for less than hoped?
  10. Liked most of ep 6, but man, Filoni is really killing our girl Sabine. Doesn't give her any earned moments that make her look smart when there are easy opportunities in nearly every scene. Really into this series but it needs a leveling up in regards to nuts and bolts scene work. Hoping for a Season 2 without sole writing credit.
  11. The ideas are not mutually exclusive. She could have made an excuse that she believes/would be plausible for someone to believe and also consciously/unconsciously have other reasoning that is not specifically related. Her relationship with Sabine in Rebels is nearly nothing. What we know about their training together is what we have learned in these 4 episodes. I assume that we will know a lot more by the end of the season.
  12. Yes, that's what Ahsoka said. But this failed Sabine training could be the subtext. It would certainly be more satisfying to me if the events were related.
  13. None of the relationship bugs me. Maybe because Sabine an all time SW fave for me, but it's mostly just the actual writing that irks. Sabine trained with Kanan on how to use the darksaber, and during that time he specifically explained to Hera that Sabine could use the force is she wasn't "blocked" and stubborn like a typical Mandalorian. If she never had trained with a saber, if she was always on Mandalore when the ghost crew met Ahsoka/fulcrum then maybe the apprenticeship would have seemed more left-field to me. I think Filoni is using Sabine's lack of force power to say something "new" about being a Jedi and using the force and I don't mind that. My feeling is that Ahsoka chose not to train Grogu because her Jedi training with Sabine blew up so bad. That is the subtext at least.
  14. I think the error with the Sabine stuff is that Filoni has played it too close to the vest in terms of her relationship between the end of "Rebels" and where we pick them up here. It would probably feel more earned and satisfying if we knew the extent/specifics of their fallout and overall dynamic during the padawan-ship earlier so we can judge it against what we see as this story unfolds. Although we did get a big hint in the newest episode, so again we'll see if doling out this info actually pays off. But despite any of my misgivings with how the animated translations have panned out so far the show still passes my personal Exist Test. Am I happier that it exists than not? Absolutely. Did "Obi-Wan" pass? NOPE. Failed in like ep 2.
  15. I'm still kind of conflicted, but mostly because I know these episodes had the potential to absolutely crackle if Dave allowed a co-writer to help juice up the characterization/dialogue. It's a fine line, though, because I also wouldn't want this show to have the MCU/sequels level of quippiness/snark. Feel it's just tough being any SW thing post-"Andor," writing-wise. I choose to have faith for now, because so much of it is hitting that "fun SW" spot and I refuse to believe Filoni would let us down with these characters.
  16. I, too, have always watched Star Wars for its airtight logic! And when that logic falters even a smidge I take to the internet to express how its creatives have no business seeking fair pay from the studios! No, I don't get upset when my space wizard fantasy isn't exactly to my taste! Do I seem upset to you?!?!
  17. If I am trying to sell TCW do someone who just watched Ahsoka I want to get them to the last 4 eps as quickly as possible to bait the hook and hopefully entice them to explore the rest.
  18. Yeah, I get being turned off by the style especially if it you were only exposed to the start of both series when the animation was at its roughest. Everyone says hold your nose and plow through TCW's first couple seasons, but what I'd recommend to people turned off by the style is skipping all the way to the arc where Ahsoka is framed (season 5?), then watch the last 4 eps of the series. Then, if you dug that, start watching other episodes/arcs. I wouldn't recommend skipping any of Rebels (mostly bc it's my favorite).
  19. He didn't pass while they were in production, so the only thing for certain is that he won't be in Season 2 unless there were scenes previously filmed. The imdb page most likely doesn't take into account episodes that have not aired.
  20. The thing that bothers me about this moment is not that [the character] doesn't die (def did not want that under any circumstance), it's that there are 5 million options they could have went with. How is it possible that Filoni was unaware of this same s*** happening in Obi Wan? I know he didn't have any substantial/credited involvement in that show but you'd think he'd be aware of all the productions and someone at SW Story department would have flagged it. [The character] could have had a Finn slash or something. It was an unneeded cliffhanger. I think any general SW fan can enjoy "Ahsoka" without TCW/Rebels -- to a good degree. There are probably a lot of people more hung up on the fact that half the audience knows more than them and thus puts them in a mindset that it cannot be enjoyed enough without it. Now, if it were me who had never seen the animated stuff these two eps would have had me running back immediately to check them out, but I am predisposed to love all this.
  21. Thought the first 2 eps were a real mixed bag. For every one thing I dug there were like two things I was iffy-to-upset about. My expectations were tempered -- never thought it would compete with "Andor" in the writing department (unfair to expect that imo) -- but I was confident that these characters, some of my absolute favorites in all of SW, would be brought to live action with extreme care considering their daddy was calling the shots. Well, that confidence was crumpled within the first 20 minutes and sadly it did not un-crumple by the end of the 2nd episode (even though we got some good Hera and Chop near the end). Don't like to trash talk or dwell in negativity with SW. Glad most fans seem to be happy so far. I hope the show finds a groove as the series progresses so I too can be happy!
