  9. Um... except McFarlane was doing it in the 80's, not the 90's.
  10. For me: Joe Madureria. His knock-off manga style just never really appealed to me. I don't get what people find so fascinating about his art, outside of having a love for boobs big enough to use for volleyball practice. He's slow, doesn't really do much in the way of backgrounds, and his visual storytelling skills are lackluster, at best. Frankly, I just don't get why he so desirable to fans.
  11. We're almost halfway through our current batch of "best offer" eBay auctions. Lots of great 80's and 90's Marvel Comics art by Mike Vosburg and Terry Shoemaker is here. These slots tend to go fast, so don't waste time! Good luck to you all! http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=148996
  13. Thanks. His retiring is what lit the fire under me to get something by him. Glad that the serendipity of fate helped me do just that.
  14. A new batch of our great "best offer" eBay auctions is now up. It's all Marvel pages, featuring Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Cloak and Dagger. Some really nice splash pages here, too. 15. Okay, our latest batch of "best offer" eBay auctions ends tomorrow. You've not got much time left to make your offers on some great original comic art. Lots of good stuff here, including covers, splashes, pin-ups and more. All from the talented hands of artists Mike Harris, Bill Maus, Richard Moore, and Bob Smith. So, head on over and make some offers. You might be very surprised at the bargains you'll find! http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item=191225202282&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&_sop=1&rmvSB=true&hash=item2c85e9066a&afsrc=1&_ssn=whatwhatwhat06
  16. My advice on this: Don't do it. You won't get a satisfactory outcome. The days of buying cheap and selling for a profit are done. The hobby has reached that point where most within it know the value of things and are not willing to accept a loss of any kind (if at all possible). No matter how "cheap" you think you got it, you only get it at that price, because no one else wanted to pay that much. That is the attitude you need to have now. Anything you buy today for "investment" is now a LONG TERM proposition. The only way you'll make money flipping like that today, is fi the art is stolen. A method I would not say is a wise one, for those considering it. My advice: Buy what you like and stop looking for "get rich quick" schemes. You'll only end up getting burned in this hobby.
  17. Thanks. Yeah, it's one of the reasons I've really wanted something by him. he's one of those artists that, if you don't have something by them in you collection, you don't feel like a true comic art collector. So, I guess I have finally arrived!
  18. Thanks. It's something I've been meaning to do for some time, so I'm glad I was finally able to get a Bernie piece. With the announcement of his retiring, I don't see prices getting any less expensive for his work. So, I'm glad I grabbed this when I did.
  19. Only a few days left on our "best offer" eBay auctions. Not much time left to get some great original comic art from Marvel, Archie Comics, and others. There's covers, splashes, pin-ups, and more, all up for grabs and you get to call the price. So, head on over and take a shot. You'll never forgive yourself if you don't. http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item=191225202282&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&_sop=1&rmvSB=true&hash=item2c85e9066a&afsrc=1&_ssn=whatwhatwhat06 [NOTE: Those without a U.S. address or using some mobile devices, will not be able to see these auctions. Sorry!]
  20. Just updated a new piece I got in. It's my very first piece by Bernie Wrightson. I've been wanting something published by him for some time, but he's not exactly an "inexpensive acquire." On top of that, he just recently announced his retirement from drawing, due to health reasons. That makes my obtaining this piece a little bittersweet. So, go on and check it out (along with the little write-up did for it, partly praising Wrightson). I think you all will enjoy it (and be sure to let me know what you think, either there or here): http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1373111
  21. Alright, we are almost halfway through our latest batch of "best offer" eBay auctions. Times quickly ticking away on these. Lots of great art here from Marvel, Archie Comics, and others. Covers, pin-ups, splashes, and more are up for grabs and you can take a shot at calling your own price. How you gonna beat a bargain like that? But you can win, if you don't offer a bid, so head on over and do just that. http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?item=191225202282&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&_sop=1&rmvSB=true&hash=item2c85e9066a&afsrc=1&_ssn=whatwhatwhat06 [NOTE: Those without a U.S. address or using some mobile devices, will not be able to see these auctions. 22. Can't keep the hobby alive, if you price new blood or casual buyers out of the marketplace. It's always better to be reasonable, than try to soak someone for every last cent. Makes for a better business relationship in the future.
  23. As if the excitement of our last art for sale update wasn't enough, here's another one for you to behold. Just added over a dozen pages of that cult classic hero The Tick. Art by the always amazing Marc Sandroni. We've got several pages from The Tick: Big Tax Time Terror #1 and The Tick: Massive Summer Double Spectacle #1. You'll see plenty of the kind of shenanigans you expect from the Tick and his crew of bumbling do-gooders! All are priced to sell quickly. And if that isn't enough, if you buy a page, you get a copy of the issue it is from, autographed by Marc Sandroni! So, it's a great deal all around. Head over to the art gallery and see all there is to see. Then, place an order today. Just follow the link below: http://www.comicartshop.com/ComicArtShopsByCat.asp?GCat=3287
  24. All of this simply plays to why I don't really go for any modern published art. The splitting of inks and pencils, or even just pencil and the rest done by computer, has really devalued, not just the monetary aspects for modern comic art, but even a lot of the aesthetic qualities it is supposed to have. What made published comic art so unique, was that it was a collaborative effort. That the whole was greater than the sum of the parts. The deconstruction of it over the last 20 years, has really lessened my enjoyment and interest in published modern comic art. It's why you'll rarely see anything published in my personal collection of it, post-1996.
