  1. I have a number of Silver age comics from 1964-1966 that had the back cover fold in half so there is a crease from top to bottom! My first thought was it was a way for the retail stores to "destroy" the unsold books. Why would anyone do that? Has anyone else seen this or knows why it was done? Finally, even if the front of the books are from a 7.0 to 9.2 but the back is creased like this, how does this affect the grade? Some are in the white and can't be seen all that well but still reduces the integrity of the book and will show when handled by the grader. Some cause noticeable color break. Thanks in advance.
  2. There is a crease shadow in the photo on center left that C/P can take care of. Staples clean. Thanks in advance.
  3. Nice color for a 61 year old book. Has a few ticks and small tears on back. C&P for creases. Trivia question: December 1961 was when Action (283) and most other DC books went to $0.12. Were there any earlier? Thanks in advance.
  4. Nice book but has a few color issues and I believe C&P can remove the pencil "30" on the back top left. Staples are clean. Thanks in advance.
  5. Bad stain/color loss on front. Shame. Thanks in advance.
  6. It definitely looks production related. You can see how straight the cover and pages are cut until these two areas that extend out past the straight cut. Curious if their blade was a little dull in this area. I hope you all are right that it will not affect the value.
  7. How does the ragged page cut affect this book? Staples are clean. Needs C&P. Thanks in advance.
  8. One of my favorite 10 cent Superman stories. 1st appearances of the Legion of Super-Villains and the Adult Legion. Definitely could use C&P but not bad for a 61 yr old book. Staples are clean and pages look OW-White. Grade before and after C&P. Thanks in advance.
  9. There is an interior stain on pg 17 and 18. How does that affect the grade? Just a note, the back cover is NOT chipped in the upper left corner (poor photo). It's more of a scuff. Needs C&P. Thanks in advance.
  10. I thought this book might be a problem child. Grades all over the place, from 6.0 to 8.5. That's why I brought it to your attention. Maybe I should send it to @CGC Mike for his next grading contest.
  11. Have no idea what and where this very light red "staining" came from (possible from the back page of another book it was stacked under before I got it?). Knowing CGC they might qualify it as a "color touch. Glad I have another clean copy. How does it affect the grade? Nice book otherwise. Minor blemish on top right front and back could use a little cleaning. Thanks in advance.
  12. We do a lot of Marvels so I thought I'd throw in an old '63 Superman. Front presents well but back has some color breaks and definitely needs a good C&P. Staples are clean. Thanks in advance.
  13. Thanks. I was also worried about the chip missing on the back. Probably worth C&P as long as CGC does give it a Qualified grade for the "color touch" on Supergirl!
  14. Got this at a yard sale. Too bad some pre-pubescent kid had to “enhance” Supergirl with some ink and on the back of Superman’s head. Is there any salvation for this 10 cent key? Thanks in advance.
  15. Glad I could be of service! I have to say as a noob I didn't even think to count pages so I was shocked when 2 of my X-men (#2 and #8) came back as "missing interior part/page/wrap (QUALIFIED) page(s) 12 does not affect story" (I still don't believe it) so... ... I immediately took out my X-men #1 and started counting the pages inside the cover...1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 before the staple! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 after the staple. Wait, what? 7 and 8? Another X-Men missing a page and it's #1?!!! My heart sank as I thought of the amount of value this key grail book just lost. So I counted again and noticed I had been so light handed with the pages that the first time two pages didn't separate. There were 8 and 8 after all! I then took photos of every single page so when I send it to CGC there is no question about it. Whew!
  16. Excellent write-up and description! That explains it completely. Thank you!
  17. I seen a lot of SA marvel (especially X-Men) with Green Qualified Labels stating "Page 12 missing, does not affect story". What is the12th page and how does it affect the value? I've also seen "Page 16 missing, does not affect story" and "3rd wrap missing". What is the 3rd wrap? Thanks in advance.
  18. I was just curious at what the starting point is for an otherwise white paged, no crease silver age book with both staples rusted? Thanks in advance.
  19. Needs a C&P for some creases that don't show too well on the scans. Just a few things here and there. Thoughts on grade?
  20. I agree that most are defects that C&P can't fix but the back has some soiling and spine creases that I think C&P might help this book get a bump.
  21. Saw this in two different books. Was wondering if it will affect the grade and can C & P remove it?
  22. Recently found this 3rd appearance of the LSH. Can I have your on this 10 cent book? Grade before and after a good C & P. Thanks in advance.
  23. Thanks everyone for the grades and welcoming me to the boards. I'll let you know what it grades out as after C & P.
