It is possible to discuss these things without ulterior motive or emotion.

I'm saying that the information is readily available for anyone who wishes to seek out appearances of Character X or whatever else they want. If people actually cared about early appearances of Livewire, they could buy them or even start bidding wars for them without the need for hype.

This point is completely valid. If Livewire demand was being driven by fans of the character, who want to own and read her appearances, SA 22 shouldn't have been skipped over in the recent jumps in price and demand.

Sorry guys, but "Hot Artist" Copper Age books went out with mullets, and it's all about the "First Appearance".

Yup. It's been a long time since artists were rock stars.

I can't help but think we'll see the hot artist phenomenon again, but I sure as hell don't see any candidates at present.

I feel that X-Men 248 first Jim Lee needs to be added to this list, he is DC's main man now and let's face it this issue is where it all started. One of the best artists if not the best in the last 25 years and this issue should be in everyone's collection.

That's Jim Lee's first X-Men work, not his first work. It'd have more potential if Marvel hadn't systematically eroded the X-Men comic franchise over the last 20 years with a combination of poor stories and overexposure.

I feel that X-Men 248 first Jim Lee needs to be added to this list, he is DC's main man now and let's face it this issue is where it all started. One of the best artists if not the best in the last 25 years and this issue should be in everyone's collection.

There's appearance as written in the Oxford dictionary, and there's appearance as understood by comic book collectors. Words in the English language are often co-opted for use in ways that do not reflect their literal meaning.

By "as understood by comic collectors" you must be referring to the comic's market value or presence in the narrative otherwise a first appearance should be determined by the definition of the word.

Man all you guys have been blowin' that hard earned money on a second appearance. Livewire appears for the first time at the end of this issue and the web is fully stocked so please go buy some.

We had a great time. I didn't have time to finish all of the buying/selling deals I was working on and had to leave some things with a trusted fellow boardie. This was one of the better conventions in the last couple years. Was great to watch Adlard work.

They have plenty of Southern Bastards & have little need of the CGC boards input.

I agree. It was my least favorite Frank but somebody must like it. Maybe it will make a better TV show.

The last three issues are quite hard to find.

Many 16 year olds like me gave up on it after issue 3.

Ah, now we'll see if it's heavily allocated....DCBS is notorious for changing the rules of the game down the road.

That can happen when they put the books up for sale before Diamond confirms the order requirements, I guess. A calculated gamble to get early order business.
