  1. I have no stake in the PZ debate, I was not insulted or upset about your BBC comments, I just didn't think your comments were either fair or from someone who knew anything about the BBC.

I could give you a list of great modern shows that the BBC have produced in the last 5 - 10 years but why would I bother when you wouldn't listen any way.

Do you think the BBC can produce a show that will be a driver of PPZ demand and sales? WD has been great, but there have been other mass media comic adaptations that have not translated into demand at the comic book level. Even if they make a great show, is it the type of property where watchers will say 'Oh, that's based on a comic? Where can I get it?' hm

  2. I never give specualtion or advice but I had no particular interest in this book for my own collection but have decided to keep a set of #1, and all issues going forward for myself. And I haven't even read an issue yet.

There is a reason, and one day it may come to light.

My advice, hold on to a set of #1s graded for yourself.

The all powerful dre spoken. hm

I'm sorry, but this sort of hero worship is sickening.

    +1

I thought it was tongue-in-cheek. (shrug)

I also appreciate the heads-up from dre. 2c

  3. I want to give credit to Larry. His recent posts have been pretty reasonable. Hopefully that will continue. In the past, the confrontations have been when people disagree on his picks or question his track record.

    +1

But something to keep in mind on Larry's picks. He runs a comic store. He appropriately cautions people about the fact that a book may increase in value but still have a pretty thin margin. He can purchase at good discount to cover to begin with and has multiple venues for selling that probably aren't open to most in this thread.

i.e. My Little Pony -- probably a safer bet for a B+M retailer than an internet flipper. Shelf stock can trickle out for a long time at a 50% profit. I have a buddy who runs an LCS who ordered BIG on SpongeBob 1 and is still selling them.

  4. The guy that only charged you 12 dollars shipping... He ate the rest of it... Guaranteed... I can attest shipping to Canada is pricy...

Nope. First Class for a small box can be as low as $8. Of course, as I said above, untracked and not your best option.

  5. 'Death of (character X) ' has become a recurrent joke in the industry. I'll discount the value of that.

I'd also discount it because its coming from a retailer who is probably drowning in "hot" books that are just "ready to explode" in value :eyeroll:

Nah... I don't think so. I don't see Larry being able to pimp sales for himself here. I think he's just voicing an opinion. 2c

  6. I just don't understand why people think this is just another "hype" book,

Uh... because it's 2 issues in? hm

It IS a good read so far, and if the creators carry on, I think it'll continue to be good, but some degree of caution cannot be faulted.

Fatale tracked a similar trajectory initially.

  7. This book will NEVER put your children through college, but it will probably sell above cover price for a short window. Go to your local shop. Buy a high grade copy at cover price. Go to a con & solicit a FREE autograph & pay a fee to have it graded. Sell it on E Bay at a tidy profit. Isn't THAT what most of you guys do?

Book'll be at cover price before the auto ink is dry.

  8. I thought the CNBC comment was accurate.

    :D:D

thank you, good to know some people got to see it before it was removed.

Love watching the ticker on CNBC as someone touts a stock, or as Jim Cramer outlines a spec pick.

  9. First: Welcome to the Boards!

Second: You may very well be right, assuming that by 'danger,' you mean from a $$$/investment/whatever perspective.

Third: I honestly don't care how much the book sells for on the aftermarket. I just enjoy the story & art and hope the book has 'legs' in regard to telling a consistently good story in a timely fashion.

First, thanks - my previous first post was wiped out when the thread was cut, but its probably better its gone. Though my CNBC analogy was epic and very true.

I thought the CNBC comment was accurate.
