  1. Right, brought myself up to date and all I can say is...

    The ???

From the seller's post, I can't be certain whether he was implying that the death effected this deal or just his ability to post. (shrug) Hopefully he meant the latter, as for all the sympathy I have for anybody who has lost somebody close...and this applies to Yannis...there is no good reason why it should impact on him selling the book to Bat-Man rather than Matt.

I could see the book not being sold at all, due to lack of time to consumate the deal, but to force a sale to a boarder other than the one who had already paid a $500 deposit?

Nah. Anyone who pays a $500 deposit to a total stranger is good for the rest of the money. This is simply a case of the good ole boy club. Matt's not a member, so got shafted royally. In accepting the payment, the deal was sealed and the seller should be utterly ashamed of himself for pulling the book so that his little chum could have it instead.

I'm sure that Yannis won't have any trouble continuing to sell around here...cool books are always worth more than ethics and integrity to many buyers meh ...but to anyone with a sense of fair play, please stear well clear.

Wow, i'm just hearing of this. I think John needs to clarify exactly what happened and why. I can only imagine that it was a money issue (greed). (shrug)

No. It's not a greed issue. Bat-man showed me a snapshot of the paypal transaction. He really did pay $1,500 plus fees...less than what mt1000 said he would have paid -- $1,600.

Why didn't Bat-Man post this himself?

  2. I just wanted to notify everyone that a personal pm to Matt with a full explanation has been sent. I apologize but I dont alway have the time these days to be on the threads every day of the minute. I am very sorry about this situation but I had some serious family issues to deal (and although I cannot get into detail here- it includes death) so before fingers get pointed I believe a personal matter should be handled by the parties involved first. Then it can be spoken of here. In the meantime I have to go now and will be awaiting Matts response later on tonight. Thank you everyone

Sorry for the family issues. :foryou:

That having been said, how exactly did that cause the book to be sold to Bat-Man and not mt1000? (shrug)

  3. O and BTW i am not mad at batman i assume he didnt know and ive talked to him before and he seems like a good person

The seller said he had a personal P.M. with you, I assume to explain the situation. Mind telling us what the explaination was. Alot of boardies would like to hear it I'm sure.

    DRX

It was just that he thought i would not pay after the deposit ( well i dont give $500 to just anybody but...) I had the money within a few days of the deposit well befor batman said he bought the book so yes i got screwed.

It had only been a week since you gave the deposit, correct? (shrug) Did he bother to email you to see if you were still committed to buying the book?

  4. Okay, you ASM fiends. It's been brought up before, but it seems like it's been a while...

Who has a complete run of ASM on some level?

    #1-50?

    #1-100?

    #1-200?

    #1-300?

    #1-328?

#1-441? (silverweb, for one, take a bow :gossip:)

    #1-present?

Chime in if you have some kind of sweet ASM run...OR if you're really close (say, less than 10 issues ). Or chime in if you know of a boardie who has a complete run but doesn't drop in as frequently.

Full run. 1-441, and on to the current issue.

Of the books 1-400, all are slabbed save for 3.

That's hard to fathom and just plain wrong. :hail: Which 3 aren't slabbed?

332, 341 and 392. Nuisance books that I'm reluctant to pay over $40-$60 for. Patience is a 'virue', as Michael Golden says.

Besides those 3, all the run from 150-400 are 9.8s save for 4 books in 9.6.

  6. Any current owners of ASM #151 in CGC 9.6 who want to publicly share? When you got your copy, how much it was, and where you got it from? :wishluck: If you don't want to go public and think such a request rude, then you can PM me. :shy: Or, if you simply want to say you're a proud owner of a 9.6, feel free to exercise free speech. There's only 19 of 'em on the census (out of 193 submitted).

My story, semi-tinged with regret, is forthcoming.

And if anyone definitely knows who is the fortunate owner of the single 9.8 on the census, do tell. Common sense tells me it's Mr. Brulato, but then again, maybe someone beat him to the punch. I see GPA shows that it sold for 1,000 bucks back in September 2006. If that copy ever goes up for sale, or if another one emerges and is auctioned off, I'm thinking it's going to be a battle in the trenches and a predictably insane amount of money realized.

I have one of the first 9.6s given. I subbed it along with a run of other OO books in 2001. It still sits in its original modern red label holder. It may be a candidate for a resub. (shrug)

Resub it! :headbang: Or actually, I've never seen a #151 in a red holder...and it is a 9.6.

(If you do resub, and it comes back 9.4, I'll disappear for a while.)

    No worries there. (thumbs u

It's not a 9.4 even on a bad CGC day. There are 2 tiny NCB marks along the spine, that can only be seen with tilting of the book. Nothing else.

I'm not terribly motivated to re-sub though.

As an end note, 173 also is a very difficult book in 9.8, especially compared to the census numbers around it.

  8.

It's a darn pretty book in my opinion with a great spine and rich colors. When I called for grader's notes, they mentioned a tape pull on the Goblin's bag that wasn't there before.

I should note that I'd trust that particular witness with my best books and I don't blame him at all. Too many places where it could have been damaged to pinpoint exactly where it was. Regardless of what the label says, I'm psyched to have a set of this storyline, let alone triple-signed copies. You don't see that very often on these issues. (thumbs u

Could've been worse...he coulda caught it in his zipper. :insane:

  9. Maybe you're not looking at the bigger picture...

Listen, it'll never get to that point, as Danny is a smart guy and will just pay the higher amount once he sees the firepower - he'd never allow this to get to the level that Mark states, as then he'd be opening up a whole new can of worms.

The scenario as I see it:

    1) Danny finds out about potential legal challenge.

    2) Danny relents to higher child support since he does NOT want to let Mark inside his life.

    3) Danny lists 30% more hidden-resto books to pay the bills.

To think that he'd let a child support case threaten his source of income is ludicrous, and no matter what you think of Danny, no one can say he's stupid.

I'm not a legal expert by any stretch of the imagination. Whether or not he wants Mark in his life, standing in front of the courts may not be anyone's jurisdiction but the courts and authorities to decide. If there is a child support issue (and from what Mark explains, it is evident that there is one), no investigation can tease out private financial information like a cross-examination under oath. I also understand the livelihood claim you bring up (and how this case can hurt it and the community) but if there is a bursary award in the amount that Mark is suggesting, IMHO the path Mark is taking is logical and well worth the risk.

Don't confuse jc with the facts. Just because some of you are lawyers doesn't mean you have more insight into legal matters than he does. :insane:

  10. HE COMMITED TO BUYING THEM WHEN THYE RETURNED FROM CGC (I DON'T CARE WHAT HE'S TELLING YOU NOW.....AS HE IS LYING), AND WHEN THEY CAME HE RENEGED ON THE DEAL....BEGINNING AND END OF STORY!

You gonna post the e-mail where he told you this, or should we all just assume you're a lying arsehole?

You said Lauren's father 'sent' you a list. Post the email please. :sumo:

  12. :hi: Hi Marc. Glad to see you're back.

Good luck with the sale. 301 is one of the best covers in Mcfarlanes run IMHO.

    My favorite personally. (thumbs u

I'm not disputing these prices but what makes this relatively common in high grade (17 9.8 132 9.6) book worth 50-80 X 9.2 Guide? I love the cover also and do not follow modern prices but there sure are a LOT of other things I'd spend $1000 on than a McFarlane Spidey as much as I liked reading them. Are other issues other than 300 getting similar prices? How about 316?

    17 9.8's is not Common

If Marc was listing a 9.6 those are common 9.8's for this issue are almost IMPOSSIBLE to find

17 in 9.8 is common.... BUT, it's a number that is dwarfed by the number of collectors that would like to finish a 9.8 McFarlane run. If you look at the number of 9.8s for other books in the run, this issue lags well behind.

Some of the books in the 201-230 range census out in the single digits.

  13. Hi everyone,

I'm Adam, co-creator and co-owner of Comic Cubes, and I have to say, I am really excited by all of your interest in our products. As far as accommodating CGC, we are currently working on a new cube that will hold modern CGC comics. Once we have everything worked out, I will be sure to post about it here on this forum. Again, thanks so much for your interest and please don't hesitate to send me an email with any other questions: info@2skinnyguys.com or check out our website: Comic Cubes.

Thanks for the quick reply and info! (thumbs u

    Great customer service!

  14. To make things more interesting there was a shill in the Corral that seemed to be Dupcak himself, but who knows. This shill (Ace Ventura) tried to make it look like I was Dupcak. :D Lots of fun.

Could anyone even imagine what would happen if Danny ever really got sent up the river, and admitted that he was the seller of these books? :tonofbricks:

Depends. If the 'Tec is a blue holder 6.5 as suggested, I imagine there would be some interesting debate.... lol
