  1. My favorite Ken Bald cover would have to be Venus 1, but I don't have a scan of my own copy already ready to go...

    :sorry:

Good call. I actually think I like Venus #1 better as well. I even went so far as to get Ken Bald to recreate it. Here is mine and my recreation.

I like that first issue although the later issues appeal to a larger market apparently. I substituted my scan for yours and cleaned it up a little.

    Cool!

  2. I picked up a pair of Scott Pilgrim pieces from Felix's sale.

Nice one. You did well to snag those... I have seen bullet trains move slower than the art in that sale! Did you realise it was all going that quick or had you gotten in right at the start?

I got them both pretty quick. I definitely noticed the ferocity in which they were selling though (which blew my mind). I would have picked up more if they weren't already gone to someone quicker than me. I think the 1st offering sold out in less than 24 hours. I got the advance email on the 2nd batch so I was able to pick up the "Finest Hour" page on the first day as well.

  3. I just reframed the Sheer Magic Olivia which originally had glass and a rounded silver frame. I prefer museum glass and most of my other framed pinups in the living room are black frames.

I also framed the Tales of the Zombie #6 DPS by Pablo Marcos. One of my favorite images from the series

Nice decision to frame the Zombie splash, that is really incredible. (thumbs u

  4. Wow a thread I can pitch in on!!!

Art as it was purchased by cool lines for about $700 at a heritage auction:

Art now for sale, after it's magically acquired new borders:

Yuppers! Roll right up for actual misrepresentation before your very eyes!

Price I was quoted by cool lines after I specifically asked whether they had added borders and was told no...

    $7k

That's a 10x mark up! Great work if you can get it. Course you need to commit fraud and lie to potential customers... But hey, that's collecting original art for you!!

How did they create the borders?

It looks to me like its been matted over the art. But I suppose they could have just mounted the trimmed piece to a new board. Stuff like this doesn't seem as bad to me (as long as its disclosed as not original), but the Batman Vs. predator piece is crazy!

  5. Thanks Jimbo - no under copy for sale. Although I was tempted with the one you had a few weeks ago but I knew this was on the way.

..... I almost owned that very book about 15 years ago when Marnin first put them on the market..... he was calling it a Fine due to the tear. I had actually sent the check on it's way when he discovered he had already promised it in a package deal. I ended up with the 5 instead. He called the 5 a Fine minus and it also received a 7.0 from CGC also ....... I wouldn't sell that one if I were you..... it might never surface again. GOD BLESS...

I probably won't make that mistake again (unless I magically end up with a better copy). Luckily for me, I sold it to a good friend who let me have it back. :)

The #5 is a great book too. I regret selling my old copy of that one too.
