Super Strict Grading
kimik replied to Hero Restoration's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
A hint for any other pressing/restoration service - if you come on here complaining that CGC is too strict, think first about the message you are sending about the quality of your work to the broader collecting community that has never heard of you before............. -

An amateur does not simply crack open any slab, do a shoddy press job, and expect a grade bump from CGC...................... -

Name calling to defend shoddy pressing and restoration? If they are professional then the CPR game would work. Go back to the PGX or CBCS boards if you can't have a civil discussion. -

According to who? If the CPR is no longer working for them, then that tends to back up my comment. There are way too many shoddy pressers out there that are destroying books and now getting nailed for it and whining. Good on CGC for nailing them for amauteurish work. -

I have no problem with it when I do the CPR game. All you have to do is know how to grade strictly and what flaws press easily. If the amateurs are getting burned now because they do shi tty press jobs, tough luck. Oh, and avoid almost all CBCS books - if you are lucky they stay the same grade. -

True enough. Loose grading is the norm with the competition, but that means lower sales prices as well.......... -

Exactly. There are a ton of horrible amateur and “pro” pressers out there now. People are basically butchering the books. I am curious to see how much of a negative impact widespread bad pressing will have on books longer term. -

Nice. I still have a few copies kicking around somewhere. -
Wow. I had no idea that prices had popped so high on the regular series 1-3 first prints.

Definitely. The 7.5 on the ASM 40 looks generous to me as well. -

Last Ronin hype? Maybe Bebop and Rock Steady are the reason there is only one Ronin left in the end?
