  1. It will be interesting to see how GL #5 does, as well, since Hector Hammond is another character they supposedly have a casting call out for.
  2. Thanks. I have known for a long time that #7 is tough to find in higher grades, but I was surprised at how difficult the other issues are as well.
  3. Nice book. I used to own it, came out of a large 60s DC OO collection I found. Got any of the other early SA DCs left?
  4. Here are three new 10 centers that arrived today:
  5. Here are some new additions from foolkiller/Brian that arrived today: And a super sweet book that was double stapled at the printers (printing defect):
  6. Considering OSPG would give them an 8% bump each year, not a bad return if only guide price bumps worked in the real world.
  7. With the weak US dollar and interests from overseas collectors and investors, take this opportunity to add a position for the long term if it pulls back a little. i don't know why i thought that after i retired from the hedge fund biz, i was done w/ hype artists Yup. I'm pretty much done checking out this thread. Wait until some new books are posted here and we can ooh and ahh over them instead of fill time with chatter.
  8. I picked this one up in August and it arrived last week:
  9. We are also likely seeing an initial plateau after most collectors who have wanted a copy for a while now went out and grabbed one. It will be interesting to see how prices hold as more copies enter the market.
  10. I only have one copy, and it is not a 6.0+ copy either.
  11. Wow...you are correct. Getting a bit old. Dont worry we can start a 36 years old club... we can be the first two members..and it's not old.. For us younger board members it is.
  12. I think this copy should be valued for $1900-2400. (thumbs u Not with LT/OW pages IMHO. I would not pay more than $2000.
  13. Ouch. That PQ should hold the price back quite a bit.
  14. Better snag your copies of GL #5, #7, and #16 as well right now, before it is too late. I like this exchange picture. If a collector or investor had held on their SC22 for the last 9 months, he or she would have a nice 200% increase at the current market today. For now, I think I will hold on to all my copies for 10-20 years and see what happens. Fixed that for you
  15. Better snag your copies of GL #5, #7, and #16 as well right now, before it is too late.
  16. Metropolis, Heritage, Comic Connect, Detective27kid, Harley Yee, Comic Link, Ebay, auctions houses and dealers has sold multiple copies of this book since July 2009. As we speak, we are witnessing descent prices for all low grade copy and especially high grade copies. Dealers are aware that SC22 is in high demand and collectors and investors want to own this book. The 8.0 Mound City copy will set the tone for the high grade copies. I think copies under 4.0 has very little upside in the short term. On the other hand, supplies are scarce for copies 5.5 and above. i think any copy is hard to come by....especially when anything available is being bought up...by us. if you could buy a af15 raw at 10-15 years ago prices....think about that... the supply vs demant is just not there...i just bought 6 raw books from obscure stores across the county....there are only so many books available....i called 150 stores for 6 books. So a lot of the small shops that specialize in new books have no clue, which kind of confirms my experience. My shop did not have one but the owner has no clue this board exists. He is barely aware of CGC and thinks they are only for mail order. He thinks his 7.0-8.0 bronze age books are high grade but he does a good business, made it through the 90s bust and is having the best year in his existence. So SC22 is not on his radar. I just missed out on a VG-/VG copy for $900 that a major dealer was looking at snagging for me form one of his LCSs, so there are still deals out there to be had if you can find them.
  17. I don't know if they will go for quite a bit more in 2.0 or 2.5, but there should be a bit of a premium for graded copies. It looks like 4.0 and up is the sweet spot.
  18. Glad I snagged that old label 4.0 from Rick a couple of weeks back before his new gouging, err pricing, kicks in..........................
  19. It will be interesting to see how they do. Are we the only ones paying high $$$ for the book right now?
  20. I bought it as an 8.0/8.5 from a reputable dealer/grader, but I would give it a 7.5 personally due to the corner tip chips. That being said, it is comparable to a few 10 cent Flash issues I graded a couple of years back that came in between 8.0 and 9.0 even with corner tip chips. In any case, the price was right so it is not a big worry. Is anyone going after the CGC 8.5 GL #5 in the Heritage Sunday auction?
  21. Here are the first two late August purchases to arrive. The Batman #121 is a decent mid grade copy that would grade higher but it had an impact of some kind at the bottom staple that did a bit of damage (staple fully attached, but has a couple of tiny tears and is bent).
  22. I just put my 3.5 OW up on Ebay with a BIN (at the last 4.0 high price) to see what kind of attention it gets. I didn't plan on selling it but I have 2 copies so I figured I would see what happens. Should be interesting... -William keep us posted if it sells... I am going to add the "make offer" to mine, to see what kind of offers I get Where are you putting yours Rick ? good question... I guess I will start off on ebay, with the BIN /best offer function... naturally, any boardie that wants to make an offer, feel free... these were purchased with full intent to resell...so sorry with the sales pitch Rick gets flooded with lowball boardie offers in 5.....4......3.....2.....1......
  23. And there are probably a few other DC SA keys that are undervalued right now and due for a run up sooner than later. Buy them now before it is too late. (thumbs u
  24. and 192 graded copies of showcase #4 and that book is still deader than disco. I dunno, I thought this was a healthy price for a 4.5 Wow. I don't think that SC #22 will hit that level in 4.5, but if it does then anyone with a copy now will be
  25. I agree that SC #4 is still a significant book, but it is sort of the FF #1 of the DC Silver Age with SC #22 is turning into the AF #15. That being said, without the early success of SC #4 we would not have seen the return of the super-hero book to prominence until a later date (if at all). Remember, it was not until B&B #28 that Marvel finally got off its butt and came out with FF #1.
