  1. Okay, enough sidetracking. Who actually has a raw SC #22 that is willing to post the interior pages? Unfortunately, on these boards an unslabbed copy of any key is probably a rare item!
  2. Did I wait too long to sell off my last copy?
  3. Wow, no new posts since the football talk yesterday. I guess this book is slowing down.
  4. Have you come across any new ones lately? Were there any copies at the New York show this weekend? I have been offered several copies lately, passed... I was watching Florida football this weekend (and every weekend in the fall)...don't goto shows (miss Balt every year, and this year NY) You mean you were "nervously" watching Gator f'ball this weekend... - Arkansas boy frustrated is more like it... I hate to say it, but the Gators are starting to look more like the 2005 USC Trojans as the season goes on - a dominant team that gets knocked off in a big game due to underperformance on one side of the ball. For the Trojans, their D was an issue, but I think it is the O that is the problem for the Gators. this past weekend, it was tebow holding onto the ball too long...4 of the 6 sacks were easily avoidable... our Oline is fine (thumbs u (heck, we had the #2 rushing attack in the country) But how many of those rushing yards are Tebow? And yes, I know you have two good backs and a good o-line as well. The biggest concern is the lack of receiving talent, to be honest, and Tebow's general "average" rating as a throwing QB. It will be interesting to see you and Bama slug it out for the SEC title in December. That being said, I just have this feeling about the Gators this year like I did about the Trojans in 2005 and even the Patriots against the Giants. You know that on paper they are overwhelming favorites, but you start to see things pop up throughout the season that can give you warning signs and as they add up anything can happen. FWIW, I think that the Gators playcalling (and the SEC as a whole, to be honest) is a bit too conservative. Granted, with Harvin catching passes for Favre you do not have a legitimate deep threat to stretch the field any longer, but I also think that Meyer et al are calling games against tougher foes from a "not to lose" perspective instead of attacking.

  6. Have you come across any new ones lately? Were there any copies at the New York show this weekend? I saw a small handful but certainly none in HG or even above 4.0 Did Metro have 6 copies (or was it 8) below 4.0 (the best was a 3.0) like they did in San Diego? They had a quick sell through at the SDCC, including the bathtub proof PR copy.

  8. No worries, please PM me for the mailing address to submit your copy for inclusion in the club. I, err we, will consider your membership dues paid in full as soon as it arrives. (thumbs u
  9. Well, one of the 4.5s is my copy, but I believe that the label was submitted as well so it should mean there is one less 4.0 copy from the last census.
  10. Was this copy to be held in his private collection, or is the buyer most likely to flip it? Sounds like a flipper (I really don't know) if he is willing to pay the premium for a raw 8.5 or 9.0. Rick probably has a better sense. Well, at one point Rick was going to keep this book as well. I was indeed, but when folks offer you BIG money for a comic, well, I have been known to sell...and, by nature (Golden age mainly), I am not a high grade collector, so I am just as happy with a 5.0 as a 9.0 and a lot of $'s in the bank (thumbs u Personally, I would have done the same thing in all likelihood, and would have no choice if told my wife about a big offer before making a final decision. While I am the man of the house, the priveleges are not as great as the marriage documents said they would be.

  12. Do you know who owns the ComicLink copy? The CL copy looks like the best eye appeal copy unless the new 9.0 copy is also off-white pages and we need to see a scan of it. Nah, just speculation since it has not come up in an auction yet. I have heard rumors that it belongs to one of the big HG DC collectors, though. Mind you, since it looks nicer than the HA 9.0 based on the old scans I saw they might be playing it smart by seeing what type of a price the HA 9.0 copy fetches.
  13. Looking at your list, I think it is safe to put the 9.0 Clink copy as in the rock solid hands of a Private Collector.
  14. Hard to focus on the corners when my eyes keep being pulled back to the miswrap. This well explains why Showcase 22 does not exist in 9.2 or better; such as books like Brave and the Bold 28, Showcase 4, Flash 105, Green Lantern 1 SA. I don't think miswrap well explains why there are no > 9.0. There are plenty of SA miswraps that I've been surprised to see 9.6 and 9.8. Quite true. On another note, I just callled CGC for the graders note. They said the pre-graders graded it 8.5 and 9.0. They decided as an 8.5 with no questions asked. They also saild it's a very strong 8.5 and no notes about miswraps. I should have contacted them earlier for this. (thumbs u Resub it 10x...the law of probability & stats says it has to change (but up or down?)... kimik said he'd foot the bill for ya... No - I need to save all of my $$$ for some of the Mound City books. It would be interesting to see what they would do on a resub, though.
  15. Three pages back. It did not generate much interest yet. I wonder if we will see some census creep. Are there some books in mylar that will be shook free and give us a 9.4 or 9.6. Why would there be census creep? This is the same 9.0 that sold on Heritage back in May 2006 for $15,535. Looks like this Gary Keller guy has been a big buyer over the last few years and has suddenly decided to unload everything. Well, all you guys who've been speculating as to how much a 9.0 SC 22 would go for in today's market will finally get an answer. Especially with one of the big players no longer in the picture. Hopefully there are other big DC players willing to chase it, as well as some of the x-over Marvel fanboys as well. In any case, it should produce a record price for the book that will hopefully trickle down a bit as well. (thumbs u
  16. They should not allow large miswraps/miscuts on any books 9.4 or higher IMHO. Sportscards get graded based on centering at the upper end so comics should as well.
  17. The new scan has the bottom spine (near/around the bottom staple) looking a little more cream than the scan in 2006. Hard to tell because the colorings are not matching between the scans, though. What do you guys think? Heritage is known to alter their scans. I dont know about you guys but that book looks to have a good amount of wear on all 4 corners... Agreed. Gift grade or shaken slab syndrome after the fact?

I dont know about you guys but that book looks to have a good amount of wear on all 4 corners... My copy is just as nice...the four corners are a little bit better...why not a 9.0 Miscut cover? My guess is that the Heritage copy was a gift grade as well.
  19. Maybe Heritage finally could afford a new scanner for this auction after scraping by trying to make ends meet for the past 5 years or so?
  20. That's quite true. The classic Neal Adams Green Lantern run helped GL sales back in the 70's...I believe this is the most popular Adams art run next to the Batman he did. I just can imagine how many people would love to complete this run now. I still don't own a GL 76 No worries, GL #76 is a common book so you can find one no problem as long as you are willing to pay the price for it.
  21. Hi Andrew, Were these all of the books he had, or just the higher grade ones? For example, does he have a Detective #400 in FN/VF that did not make the cut? Cheers, Ryan
  22. Give ya a quarter. It might be under Walt Disney's Peter Pan or something like that? I know the Cinderella issue I bought for my daughter had a weird name like that.
  23. Folks, we now have one of the most knowledgeable Whitman collectors posting in this thread. (thumbs u Are you coming to the show at the Mayfield Hotel this Sunday?
  24. Some of those books were definitely mine...I guess the latest owner is trying to move them and on to something else... Damm I miss those books Steve Well, if you want them back you might be able to snag them for less than you sold them for in the current Flash market.
