  1. Whenever I think of Captain Marvel, I think about him smiling. For me, whoever plays him has to have a great smile. I think Jake Gyllenhaal has that, but isn't big enough (muscle wise).

He's an awesome actor, still young enough, good looking and can put on the muscle. Tom Hardy mutated to Bane, Cavill to Superman...the list is endless. Physique is the lesser problem. Finding good actors to play the right roles is much more difficult.

 Why is it so much work for me???

I see you're having one of those 1000 ton weight problems. If I remember correctly, you have to deflate yourself with a pin... or a stick :baiting:

    Is it working, yet? :insane:

  3. How does a book with 2 missing wraps get a 4.0 in ComicConnects mind? :screwy:

    That's quite a stretch :eyeroll:

Maybe it's the beautiful (putrid) condition of the back cover that makes up for the missing wraps. hm

I still can't get over the fact that ComicLink is calling this a 4.0 copy with 2 missing wraps, grime all over the back cover and a big hunk of the cover missing as well. Whatever they're smoking over there ar CC/Metro - I'm sure it's rolled in Benjamin's (shrug)

Yeah, I was on vacay the day they were all posing for the cover. Such a shame

Sufferin' Sappho, the 1st all-girl cover in the series hm

(I think those cherubs are boys on #3)

    Great Hera!, you are right!

However, those are baby satyrs on #3 and yes, satyrs are supposed to be veeeeeeeery virile

  5. Thanks to last night. I'm back in the club. And anyone can say how bad the pq is and the holes but it was owned by the man. That's why the post robins did so well. It was last call and bidding got fierce.

    Congrats, John! :applause:

Great to see you back after so long, file :hi:

  6. I am not a fan of the 52 version of Captain Marvel. Both, the suite and the story need adjustments.

I like that they tried to approach Captain Marvel in a new, potentially modern way, but because a look is old, doesn't mean it's not classic or modern. He looks really fat, his suite gadgets look unproportional and the huge lightning emblem on his chest looks like something from the 90's.

His portrayal in the Justice League War film was better looking and even Billy was a lot more likable than he currently is in the comics.

I would have preferred a carefully revised version of the original look, as they did with Superman and the others.

  7. What's Shazam weakness?

As the Guardian of the Rock of Eternity, he is one with the Rock as it is a part of him. He channels the energies of the primal God-wave and the Greek Lords of Magic through the Rock of Eternity. As such, he is infused with the duty to keep the power and the magic of the earth realm in balance. As keeper of the Rock of Eternity, he also holds the dark forces at bay. Due to being bound to the Rock of Eternity, Shazam's spirit can leave the Rock of Eternity for short periods of time. It should be noted that Shazam gets weaker the longer he is away from it.

Pre-Crisis, he once claimed to get his powers from his magic mantle which protected him from evil harm and enabled other powers. When it was removed he lost his powers and became just an old man, although it does not appear to work for others, when Sivana put it on he was not protected from Captain Marvel as it only protects the wearer from evil harm. In other stories he is shown as being weaker, being captured even while wearing the mantle, and it is once shown that the brazier being lit will summon him even if he is not in Eternity. He also possessed a device with which he could observe the past, present and future, and can throw lightning bolts from the Rock, which transform the Marvels. In another story it is claimed Shazam's powers come from a Shazamium bracelet which enables him and anybody else wearing it to become ethereal and travel back and forth from the Rock of Eternity. If Shazam has it off for 24 hours he dies.

This is a little misleading. When we are talking about todays Shazam (especially in the New52 timeline), then this person is who we formerly knew as Captain Marvel. However, the parts posted above refer to Shazam, the wizard, not Shazam, Captain Marvel. As such we have a slight name problem with all the Shazams. I would imagine Freddy Freeman still turning into "Captain Marvel Jr", which of course would be a little weird, as there is no Captain Marvel (sr) to derive the name from. Maybe Freddy will also be called Shazam Jr (or King Shazam, as he himself suggested in the New52 timeline?)? Doesn't sound any good. It's a problem I'm not sure DC has solved, yet.
