  1. Am I the only DD fan, praiser of sweet DD books, or just nice Boardie on these Boards to keep giving sole shout outs for all the recent SWEET DD books posted? There are too many DD sets registered to not have a couple other computer emotions or words of admiration or respect being posted. Geez!! !! Heck, some point in the near future I will be posting a very coveted, a long time coming to my clammy asss 8th grader at a dancesque hands DD slab. A upgrade I have wanted to do for many moons. A book I have fallen asleep to dreaming and drooling about....... or not slept a wink because I did not have one upon my shelf to shed a tear of love or achievement every time I walked by the sexy SOB!! Some love from fellow DD aficionado Boardies would sure beat - a head shaking "comic geek," chortling Mrs. and local buds. Anyways, unless those are German Reprints - !!! - that is a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty nice stash you have there of Hornhead #1s! Helleva group shot!!
  2. Say.......those are some nice looking books!!
  3. I have drooled at this book for awhile. I finally emailed Stephen saying I have to pull the trigger on it!!
  4. Yeah I'm in there somewhere stating how much I once offered Josh for his Western Penn copy about three months before he sold it. I'm happy he turned me down!! That "patience" thing the older, sage like Boardies talk of has some merit to it!!
  5. 9.4 ow/w #7............$8,000. (why am I not bidding........my 9.2 ow/w #7 was close to that two years ago )
  6. Don't beat yourself too much over it. You made a valiant effort and probably a fair assumption. Its true that it could have gone for 30K or even more....or you could got it at $23,000 even... Coulda, woulda, shoulda - is all I keep coming up with. But thanks Danny. Hope you and the Fam. have a nice weekend.
  7. You're right Adam, I misspoke. At least they Register books is what I meant and they might be on the Boards. But yes, this does not constitute them as an Elite CGC "Boardie." (not many people have what it takes. Many ring the bell on the second day. !!) Maybe they go by something else on the Boards? More than likely they they aren't on them.
  8. Yeah.....I saw that when Adam posted someone took his place. But does anybody know who "V" is? He or she is a Boardie, which is a good start. But anyone know anything else? It would be nice to know if they really like the Turtles or just had some extra coin to burn and wanted a 9.8.
  9. $5,000 is for the traveling babysitter. What - do we have to do all the planning for you? FYI, I'm married to a brunette......so a blonde babysitter would be nice.
  10. Take the $27,000 you didn't spend, and go on an around the world cruise for 6 months. You'll feel better. !! Well with a Toddler and six week old that is going to be tough currently, but I can find something I'm sure.
  11. Believe me, I am feeling just as torn as you. My bid was good until the last couple of minutes and I had the option to keep going and opted not to much as I wanted to. I also figured I would have had to drop a further $2-3k to have a shot to win which was not comfortable for me. Just hope the winner is a boardie. You made me feel better, thank-you. BUT, I'm truly sorry for you too though!! It's a jagged pill to swallow with this book. Just like you, I hope it went to Boardie, who holds onto it.
  12. Does anybody know who won it yet btw? (so I can stalk them. I'm joking......I think)
  13. Danny, Too be honest I did not watch it the last three hours cause I ASSumed it would go to $30,000 and out of my price range. So I closed my laptop and walked away cause I really wanted that book so I couldn't bare to watch it. When I opened it after auctions end, I thought it was a glitch and refreshed it.....three times when I put it together, I was so angry and upset I said things that would make a dirty pirate hooker blush. I have been upset at losing out on books before (quite a few, like anybody) but not mad like this one, since it was my own stupid doing. I finally am cooled down and if I would have kept bidding over Sanj Mitra, than who knows I and the winner might have made it go over the $30,000. At least that is what I tell myself. I f***ked up - plain and simple. The buyer is a lucky person imho, fantastic job and book - hats off.
  14. I thought it was going to hit $25k, so $23k wasn't that far off the mark - but I also think that Pedigree isn't really the place to auction off your top census CA books; if this book had been on Comiclink I'm fairly confident it would have done better. Thank-you I feel better!! You know what, with a book like that, you are probably right with it being on C-Link. The buyer though, is probably happy it went just the way it did. I just can't get over that it went for sub $25,000. I should have begged & bartered harder with the Mrs. (Or just have been smarter and never told her about it and bid until I won)
  15. You are 100% correct! It was a great night for all TMNT fans with ALL of those turtle books. The #1 sale was awesome for the first sale of a 9.8 I'm just pouting and stuck in my coveted hindsight mode.
  16. Ok, am I the only one who thinks that $23,000 for the first TMNT #1 9.8 offered for sale was lower than you had envisioned? I might have been off my rocker with $32,000.....but come on, not even $25,000 or 27? I think the buyer made a SMART purchase. I am now officially pissed at myself for not bidding more as I stare at the book. "Spoon" me in the goat butt!!
  17. Well, I'm not the winner either and it went for $10,000 grand less than I thought. Double Loser. Please tell me the PROUD owner is a Boardie. Come out, come out - wherever you are....
