  1. Amazing Spider-Man #14 - Pence Variant - CGC 3.5 - Off-White Pages - $1300
  2. Yes. But I'm apparently very rusty. I can't remember how to link to my image on Google Photos. Newbie problems. Ugh. Can you please remind me or school me? Sorry everyone. I've been on the boards for 13 years and posted sales threads, but it's been awhile.
  3. Hello, all. It's been a long time but I'm here to sell some books. Around 150 or so (?) I think there's something for most people here. Lots to like, with mostly keys. Silver age keys, Bronze Age keys, Copper keys and Modern keys. Some uncommonly listed books, but all CGC. Please bear with me on posting these; it's just me (I'm not a dealer or anything). Some rules: No HOS. First gets it. I'm shipping USPS and will try to use flat rate boxes. If a large order, I could switch to a "custom box" situation, or ship multiple flat rate. I'm not an expert on shipping costs, and not looking to make money on the shipping. I'll charge what it really is, or very close to it. If it takes a few days to get the books out, please be patient with me. Paypal is preferred. Must have registered/verified address to send to. No foreign sales. All sales final/no returns. I took pics on my phone in the bright outside daylight to minimize all the glare. Some books had the plastic bag on them still, so it might look a little hazy. Only on a few though. If you want a pic of the backside of the book, let me know. I'm not posting at first just to save time on getting the listing up for ya'll.
  4. Thanks for your comments, comicwiz. My insurance company is not asking for receipts.
  5. Thank you for your comments, comicwiz. They will cover the replacement cost. Thanks for your comments sfcityduck. My limits are good, even for my large collection fortunately. Thanks for your comments comicdonna. Compiling the "mega listing" of the thousands of my books will be very challenging, but it is precisely the question of replacement value -- what source/sources -- is what I am asking for.
  6. Yes. For catastrophic fire loss, it does. For theft and such, a measly $2500 cap.
  7. Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a bit but things have settled down somewhat for me and my family since the big Santa Rosa fires. I want to thank the many, many people for their kind words and support. My insurance should cover my lost comics. However, I have to put together a painfully detailed book by book listing of my entire collection...thousands and thousands of books. Part of that process is to assign a valuation to each book. And therein lies my questions to those that have gone thru this: For all CGC books, that's easy. I'll use GPAnalysis. I registered almost all of them as well. For those raw: (1) Use a "discounted CGC price" for the value? (Subtracting grading fees?) (2) Use Overstreet Price Guide? (3) Use ebay? (4) A combination of the above? I'd like to be consistent in my methodology if possible. I'd like to have feedback from those that have gone thru this or even from some insurance adjusters on this board. Thanks for all of your help! Eggman
  8. Hi, everyone. I want to thank everyone for the kind words, comments, and PMs. I have seen some truly amazing offers for help and words of encouragement. I have to admit my faith in humanity was restored after this. I am grateful for this community and everyone associated with it. A heartfelt thank you to everyone. I just wish I had the time to address everyone on this chain and all the PMs. Please know that I appreciate each and every one of you. I haven't updated for awhile, and you might be wondering why I just fell off. It has been nothing but a whirlwind since my initial post. I have moved my family and me six times since then to various locations. I am staying at a friend/colleague's house right now while they are out on vacation. I move into a small <1000 sq.ft apt (for 3 adults, 2 kids) on Saturday, and I am fortunate to get it. It took me countless trips to various properties and phone calls to secure it. In fact, a couple of Sundays ago, I called every single apartment complex that had 2-3 bedrooms available at that moment in time per Zillow. From Windsor down to Petaluma to Sabastopol - and everything in between. There were only 2 with confirmed availability, and only 1 viable. I was there first thing Monday AM to secure the apartment. It is a cluster out here for so many of my fellow Sonoma County peeps, but we're in it together. The community feel is amazing, no matter what our situation. My kids are hanging in there, but my youngest is more agitated the last week or so. It's getting to them somewhat, and looking forward to stability. This and (re)establishing a routine is so important. I plan to rebuild my home, but estimates range from 2-5 years for that to be completed. There are a legion of considerations and issues confronting this rebuilding, but I'll not try labor you with them unless you're curious. Anyhow, thank you again for the kind words - and the many people offering to send me comics to help me rebuild. To tell you the truth, I'm a bit disconnected from collecting right now as the thought of rebuilding such a massive collection - a lifetime of work/labor of love - seems beyond me. I'll see how I feel later. Right now, my attention is focused elsewhere. Below is one thing that was saved, but only because it is a centerpiece in my office at work. I got this done a couple of years ago at the San Jose Comicon, I think. Simpsons artist Phil Ortiz and famed inker/artist Tom Cook did the work. So glad I didn't lose this as I cherish it. Hope you enjoy.
  9. Good morning, everyone. I logged off shortly after making this post, and just logged back in before heading out. It is heartwarming, touching, and emotional to read all your comments. The generosity of the group knows no bounds, I think. I will try to update everyone on my progress as time goes by. A special thanks to those that have offered up comics - and even a car! via PM; it really gets you right there. And a collection fund. A deeply felt thanks. I am currently staying at a temporary residence, but it's only for 2 weeks. I have a bead on a few places that I'll be seeing this morning. With a little luck, maybe I can score a place to lease for a couple of years while I recoup our house. Here's a pic of my babies (2 and 4):
  10. Hi, everyone. I never thought I would be one of those people posting something like this but here I am. As you have probably seen in the news - or experienced it firsthand - there are raging fires throughout the Northern California area. One of the first areas hit was Napa and Santa Rosa. I live in Santa Rosa. Unfortunately, I was also in one of the areas that was completely devastated by the fires. Me, my friends/neighbors, and entire neighborhoods are completely gone with nothing really but ashes left. My house and two cars were totally destroyed; I had nothing but a change of clothes and some toiletries. The fires still continue in many other NorCal areas, but we are all holding strong here. The community has come together like nothing I've ever seen. The heartfelt emotion and people helping people has restored some of my faith in humanity. Regrettably, I've lost over 40 years of comics and related memorabilia. I've saved, scrimped, spent countless dollars, Cons, eBay, bookstores, and whatever in my collecting habits since I was just a little kid. I amassed a pretty good collection of around 12000 books in total, most in Mylar. My collection ranged mostly from silver age through modern, many 1 of 1s, and such. I've traveled the world and lived many places, but kept my books in top shape, shlepping them all over the world from pre-teen to adult. And now they're all gone in one night. My insurance, while great (State Farm), unfortunately did not contain a rider for my books so I'm not going to be compensated for them. I should have known better. My family is completely safe and sound, although we are still seeking "permanent" housing while going through the rebuild process which may take a few years. With over a thousand families displaced and a nearly zero supply, it is a madhouse trying to find a place. I am hopeful and remain in good spirits, though. The #1 issue has been addressed: my family is safe and sound; all other questions are really irrelevant. But I am bummed to say the least about my comic situation. I've enclosed a few pics of my specific situation. I was able to get into my area 2 days after the fire (it was still hot in some parts of the house) with the help of a Sheriff friend of mine. I'm coming to terms with losing my lifelong collection, and thought I would commiserate with those who understand the hobby. In a couple of images, you can see a large white mound; that is all that remains of all those thousands of books (which were in interlocked, stacked, long boxes).
  11. Bomber-Bob - Just to be clear, I have no animosity directed your way. I guess I can understand why you might think that after reading your comments. However, you keep (mostly) stating the pressing issue...but I never mentioned pressing at all; I want to learn about all the different methods of restoration, or techniques/processes that aren't "technically" restoration but modifies the book in appearance in some form. I don't assume to know everything even after 9 years on the boards. And I've been collecting for over 40. I feel pretty knowledgeable, but still mucho to learn. Anyhow, I appreciate all comments including yours, and you did add some info to the discussion. Happy to discuss via PM if you want, but we're good.
  12. And you would be 100% incorrect. Better to ask me than assume first, especially with the negative comments. I have no agenda other than my simple question. Also, Phicks1, Can you please elaborate on dry cleaning. What is it exactly? How does it affect the book? Thanks for everyone's discussion.
  13. Hi, everyone. I'm curious about some restoration items. What is typically viewed as Restoration (per CGC), and what are items that improve the overall appearance or change the book in some way, but are not technically viewed as restoration. How do you feel about the way these are viewed? Thanks for your insight. Eggman
  14. 1 of 4 in the Census; soon to be only 1 of 5 in 9.8 CCG mislabeled it (but I have since turned it in for a new slab; awaiting receipt).
  15. All - Good afternoon. I am curious on your opinions re: brittle pages. Do they bother you? Will you fully avoid books with this designation? How does this impact pricing relative to a non-brittle page situation? Does it depend on the significance or rarity of the book...and if so, how? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
  16. Gator - Good afternoon. Thanks for sharing your insights. Re: Fantastic Comics in general, and Fantastic Comics #1 specifically. What is your outlook on these? Your opinion on the current state of demand? How does Fantastic Comics fare vs other Fox titles? I have a 4.5 restored version of #1 (pic enclosed). Anything to consider or look out for regarding the run and #1 in particular? Thanks again for your feedback.
