  1. Looks like a lot of us are all around the same age but hopefully not representative of the hobby as a whole. Most of my earliest purcahses were obviously funded by my parents and then later allowance. I never had a paper route but my first "job" was going to my dad's dental office and cleaning the chairs and other equipment as well as sterilizing the dental tools. I did this from 11- 13 so clearly some OSHA and child labor law violations by letting a minor run an autoclave unsupervised. lol Man, the 70's were really a different time. :cloud9:

I don't play golf, so not regular that it is worth saying that I don't play it.

I had one on a par 3 as a teen and like one bet and winning in Vegas I quit to say I had doubled my money at the casino 😂

There was a ridge or cliff to our left, so instead of hitting on the fairway, I did what all teenagers new at an official course with there parents and best friend do, cut wise to the left as a noob.

Playing through we went to find my ball and wound up at the hole with the people waiting in front of us whom had waited to snap a pic of whomever hit the hole in one.

Idk if they played a trick on me lol but the husbands wife turned out to be a doctor, which added validity to this teenagers mind haha

Doesn't matter how it gets there as long as it goes in. I've come close three other time by less than 1 foot and nearly had an albatros (2 on a par 5) where I hit the pin and kicked about three feet away.

A par 3 is the #1 handicap hole?

It was an "executive" course. All par 3's but this one was the hardest. If I recall correctly all waste area/water until about 20 yards before the green.

  4. I got there just before 11 and stayed for nearly 3 hours. I had a wedding up in the Winnipesaukee area last night so had to leave a little earlier than I wanted since I needed to grab a bite to eat as well. The venue is about a half a mile from downtown Concord so I was able to drive over after for a burger and a beer at The Barley House Restaurant & Tavern (great burgers!). Tons of books, good crowds and some really long lines for the artists. lol I didn't see the carnage dude and like Ryan said, not too many women. I did see a number of kids at the show including a couple buying some ASM bronze. There was also an unconfirmed Roy sighting but he was out the door shortly after I arrived.

After a quick stop to see @AmazingComics413 I walked the room to locate some dealers that I wanted to check out. I wasn't sure if I was going to try to focus on one or two bigger books that are on my radar but wall prices were "elevated" from what I looked at. Many dealers seemed to be open to offers and saw a couple bigger books get picked up. Lots of tire kicking for sure, everyone seemed to want to know the price of ASM 252 but didn't see any move. I opted for working on some run fills and had good success and I was able to work some bulk discounts at a couple tables. The 4 Conan books completed my run from 1-120. The Hulk 145 is a really solid squarebound and has been eluding me for some time in higher grade. I'll definitely be back next year, great show!

    Those are great!
But I have to ask; stopping at 300? You don’t like the Simonson run?

I do like that run! My OO run is from about 250 - 295 so that was a logical stoping point. I stopped collecting in high school and picked back up about halfway through the Simonson run. I've back filled some so that's nearly complete. I'll get around to filling in the blanks at some point but won't seek out 301- 336.

  6. My LCS was lucky enough to buy an OO collection with some really higher end silver including some major keys. As they slowly start to process the books, they are reaching out to the regulars for first dibs on some of the books. I jumped on these 4 Thor books as they help me close in on a run of 126 - 300.

All with seemingly white pages, maybe OW/W at worst. I estimate 126 and 127 to be about VF+, 129 hovers more towards the F+ to F/VF range and 130 look to be around a VF/NM. None have been pressed.
