  1. I guess what they say about squirrels and nutz is true. Thanks @DR.X for the contest and the fun!
  2. I'm usually half asleep while I'm watching in the AM so I likley missed it as it was likley more of a footnote. The past couple days the news stories were all about the services for the policeman and the national grid worker that got hit during the detail in Waltham it seemed.
  3. It a complete non-story here just outside of Boston. it wasn't even on the news this moring and I had no idea it was the 250th until I was today years old.
  4. I think I was 13 or 14 at the time. Back then I typed my letter on an actual typewrtier and mailed it in! As you can see I incorrectly guessed Carrion's identity as Bart Hamilton (Green Goblin 3) but it was so cool to see my letter published! Close to a no-prize.
  5. Being published in a comic is pretty frickin epic. I have one back in an early Spectacular Spider-man
  6. I recently was able to attend an open house at @Superworld physical location which, as I said to Ted, I felt I was walking on hallowed ground. Picked up these beauties while I was there.
  7. this has the makings of a dateline story writtten all over it.
  8. my daughter is a major Swifty. I took her to a show back in 2014 and it was a life changing event for her. I can say that she really does put on a great show.
  9. New Releases For 12/13/2023 Detective Comics #1079 (Cover A Evan Cagle), $4.99 OCT230710 IMMORTAL THOR #5 $4.99 OCT230591 MILES MORALES SPIDER-MAN #13 $3.99 OCT230557 MOON KNIGHT #30 $4.99
  10. Even without a storage unit or F&F that could provide space short term, multiple cross country trips is painful to even think about. My daughter went to the University of Georgia and I have done multiple drives back and forth to Massachusetts over the 5 years including the last one coming back in a u-haul towing her car. That was 1100 miles each way, cross country could be 3 times that. All I can say is never again.
  11. I moved about 40 LB and a dozen SB last year when I sold my house. It was only a 20 mile move that I did myself in my SUV and it really ballz. I had to touch each box 8 times coming from the second floor to the basement/garage and then up to the second floor of my new location. I probably should have paid someone to do it but when my collection was a little smaller in 2013, I paid mover's to do it. I think it was about 25+ LB at that time and it may have cost me an extra $700? but can't recall exactly. They did drop one box and I noticed some corner crunch on about 20 books but it was too late after the move to say anything. Given the distance and size likely you only option unless you have a large group of friends that are willing to slog all those boxes to a moving truck for you. If you do use a moving company, do your research and make sure they are reputable.
  12. I was wondering about this over the weekend and just checked this thread to see if there were any updates from you. Looking forward to the chaos.
  13. I'm in the rebag process and going to short boxes. It's a slog getting through it (currently on Marvel D) but worth it in the long run. At least I made the commitment to mylar in 2009 so anything purchased after that point is already there. I cut back about 20% on moderns this past year. $4.99 is starting to be the norm so I think it's time to tap out on mostly everything.
  14. The information in this thread is great even if I don't play in the deep end of the pool. I do think the downward trend is continuing and has similar results for the some mid to upper grade keys. I am cautiously tracking a couple books and I'll probably continue to watch a bit longer before I pull the trigger on anything. One of the books Iron Man 55 appears to be back to prices prior to the last two movies and in line with the 2014-2015 averages for the most part. Grade Sold Last % 12 Mo. % 5.5 391 475 -17.5% 496 -21% 7.5 553 605 -7.5% 737 -25% 8.5 650 780 -17% 939 -31%
