  1. From the most popular heroes of all time to E-Man...
  2. I notice that under the 9.9 for the grade they have "Mint" also written. Looking quickly at other items, there isn't a "Near Mint plus" under a 9.6 grade. 9.9's are so special they revert back to the old name system?
  3. Not sure if this has been posted but I'm currently "pressing" it because it's got a subscription crease. Although, as you can see, that's the least of my worries! Love the book and cover nonetheless...
  4. Those Russkie covers are awesome... The hammer and sickle. Does anything else say "Stinkin' Commie" more? Maybe "CCCP" but Namor isn't competing in the Olympics.
  5. p.s. Thanks for the extra books! Bionic Woman #5 was the last of that line and, frankly, I can see why...
  6. Thanks to Chris (ckb) for my Charlton books. [steve Austin, man barely alive, we can rebuild him. We have the technology.] All arrived safely packed. Funny story... I got them on Friday and put the box next to my trash can but forgot to take them home. About half-way home, I realized I had forgotten them and about my pants because I was worried that the garbage folks would think they're trash and take them out too. I wasn't about to turn around (there was a Giants game that night - getting back into the City would have taken another 45 minutes - 1 hour) so I had to worry all weekend that the books were going to be gone... but I got in this AM and they're all safe and sound. Thanks again Chris. Mike
  7. right back at you, dave. thanks for the fast pay and the offer. saved me from hasseling with ebay...
  8. shouldn't the young jimmy olson be running his off right now instead of hugging his dog? sweet book, by the way.
  9. I feel like I've been trapped in a Crazy Maze for almost 35 years myself...
  10. Wow. I've seen documentaries on German POW's and how well they were treated compared to US soldiers in Germany and especially in Japan. As much as I wouldn't have wanted to be captured in Germany, Japan would have been worse. One of my all-time favorite movies is Stalag 17 (HIGHLY recommended!) which gives you a slight taste of the POW experience but I couldn't believe how we treated Germans. They were "interned" in the south, the southwest, etc. It got to the point where they were nearly unsupervised in some locations because there was nowhere for them to go - where you going to escape from Arizona to? New Mexico? Such a difference. Anyway, cool stuff.
  11. in the immortal words of johnny carson: "i did not know that."
  12. Of course. I get all that. As days go by, you don't get to meet/hear about WW II vets and I can't say that I've ever known someone (as much as you can "know" somebody online) who was or has a relative that fought for the Germans. Having a degree in history, it's very interesting. Which I expressed as "crazy." Hopefully there was no offense taken there...
  13. two things: why is superman swimming? your uncle fought FOR the germans? crazy.
  14. Feel like..... SECONDS? mmmmmm... flakey
  15. And which retcon was this in? Seriously, in New Mutants he was initially just a throw-away assassin for hire that had some cool moves and a nifty costume. Readers liked him, and then came the healing powers, the lame origin and the oatmeal face. i had oatmeal for breakfast.
  16. wolverine #1 ? i often think of it as "wolverine, numero uno" but that's me. and he said it, i didn't. i'm just reporting it. do agree with it though? don't get me wrong, i think deadpool is cool. i remember thinking that when i read new mutants 98 when it came out. but as important as wolverine? no way. i'd have a hard time saying that deadpool is "important" in the scope of comicdom. cool? sure. important? no. I still think Deadpool is a great character, because as a mercenary he doesn't have do conform to the "superhero" standards. While I don't feel that New Mutants 98 is a top key issue, neither do I feel Wolverine #1 is a top key issue. i agree with you on deadpool. wolverine #1 is a big deal just because he's so popular. people love that canuck. and they figure they can't afford a hulk 181, don't want a hulk 180 or can't afford a gs xmen or xmen 94 so the next best thing is wolvie #1. and it's miller cover art, too which doesn't hurt. miller... liefeld... miller... liefeld. yeah, i think i'd take miller myself.

  19. from his item description: "NEW MUTANTS #98 CGC 9.6 FEATURING 1st DEADPOOL and very likely the biggest comic ever since WOLVERINE #1 in 1984 . Every twenty years something big comes around and this is it."
  20. does this count as horror since the Phantom Stranger's in it??? i sure hope so...
  21. OK, this bird crapped out a baby? I'd hate to be that kid...
  22. Posted this in the regular have a cigar but wanted to get it in here too... not sure if it's been posted here before.
  23. Don't know if this one's been up yet (with so many pages) but I just picked it up the other day and am pretty happy with it...
