  1. wasn't his face always oatmeal? If I remember correctly he had radiation cancer or something until he got his healing ability. confused-smiley-013.gif

And which retcon was this in?

Seriously, in New Mutants he was initially just a throw-away assassin for hire that had some cool moves and a nifty costume.

Readers liked him, and then came the healing powers, the lame origin and the oatmeal face.

    i had oatmeal for breakfast.

  2. from his item description:

"NEW MUTANTS #98 CGC 9.6 FEATURING 1st DEADPOOL and very likely the biggest comic ever since WOLVERINE #1 in 1984 . Every twenty years something big comes around and this is it."

    wolverine #1 ? confused-smiley-013.gif

i often think of it as "wolverine, numero uno" but that's me. and he said it, i didn't. i'm just reporting it.

do agree with it though? confused-smiley-013.gif

don't get me wrong, i think deadpool is cool. i remember thinking that when i read new mutants 98 when it came out. but as important as wolverine? no way. i'd have a hard time saying that deadpool is "important" in the scope of comicdom. cool? sure. important? no.

I still think Deadpool is a great character, because as a mercenary he doesn't have do conform to the "superhero" standards. While I don't feel that New Mutants 98 is a top key issue, neither do I feel Wolverine #1 is a top key issue.

i agree with you on deadpool. wolverine #1 is a big deal just because he's so popular. people love that canuck. and they figure they can't afford a hulk 181, don't want a hulk 180 or can't afford a gs xmen or xmen 94 so the next best thing is wolvie #1. and it's miller cover art, too which doesn't hurt. miller... liefeld... miller... liefeld. yeah, i think i'd take miller myself.

  5. i love that bailey cover on the weird mysteries, its a soti book too, isn't it? What issue did you have previously? They are all great books, but i really like that crime book. Nice, clean, green cover, its a cool book! 893applaud-thumb.gif

Yeah, the WM is a SOTI. This is the WM I already have but I think am gonna keep it! grin.gif

My LCS has some books like this but they too are "cut-off" on top where the DC and price circles are missing part of the top and/or sides. How much does this affect the rating of the book. Is is personal choice or do serious comic-collectors and CGC actually take this into account when deciding on a grade for a comic?

    Any opinions would be appreciated...

  7. its a no #, 1944 R.W. Voigt publishing. The Opener of the book & the superhero story has a GREAT skeleton splash. Its such a weird mix on genres. I at first thought it was a remainders book, but since ALL YOURS COMICS is printed at the top of each page I guess it was meant to be this odd. Funny animal, superhero, crime, boxing, newspaper style strips, it just too strange! Almost everything is a direct rip off of something existing already like TRANSOM is really Tracey!!!!

that's odd because overstreet lists an "all your comics" from '46 that has a red robbins and merciless the sorceress appearance. i see that merciless is listed on the cover but red robbins is not unless they guy (superman look-alike) is supposed to be red robbins. wierd wild stuff.

wait, there it is under Fox Giants from '44. with the puppeteer, red robbins and merciless the sorcerer appearance.
