  1. I love this. Was it expensive? I love aliens too, ha. Looks like you have a nice copy there bro!

I hope i can find a copy one day soon.

Just got this from Roy....I don't think I'll ever get tired of these pre hero Marvels. I suppose this would be the first one in that genre for them....December 1958. GOD BLESS...

  2. I got my first Ditko comic on ebay today =]

Just thought i'd attach a picture and contribute to my post, I know most people have probably seen it before because it's his more popular work but maybe some haven't.

  3. After seeing your cover, I had to get myself a copy of it =]

I've attached the ebay listing picture, I'm hoping it's as good as it looks (but it's a small picture, so hard to tell).

Can't wait till it comes! =]

I think I got it for a good price too (5 pound, including postage), well if it's as good as it looks it'll be a good price, lol!

I received some really nice books back from last submission. This was not one of them...

To add punishment to stupidity, the piece of packaging material towards the middle bottom is safely encapsulated with this book.

8.0?? what did the cgc notes say?..am i missing something here?

first glance looked like the skull was smoking a fatty and batman was reaching for it....

The packaging material had nothing to do with the grade. Just poor QC on CGCs part. The grade had everything to do with the poor QC on my part...I sent the wrong book in. No need for graders notes, the back scan should suffice.

    lol

  4. That's so harsh! I feel bad for you man, lol.

I guess you gotta see the humorous side to it though!

  5. LMAO!

But in all seriousness..Ditko is the man..my hero, right up there with the likes of Charles Bronson, Chuck Norris, Pee-Wee Herman (Pre-theater incident, of course!), and Dora La Exploradora.. man..they rock!
  6. I think a few of us should, what' the worst that could happen?

I'd love a reply alone, even if he just said, 'leave me alone', haha.

Well.. if you guys are doing it.. maybe i should try my luck as well..
  7. Interesting reply. You seem to know your stuff bro.

Yeah man, I agree with you, I favor his work on Dr Strange over Spider-man - Not to discredit his genius with Spidey!

But Mutant Manatee, do you have any idea how I can get a hold of his address? or anybody?

I decided I'm going to try my luck and write to him... Going to be awkward, I don't expect anything back but a reply alone I think would make it worth it. Maybe somebody could PM me?

His address is not a secret, many people have written him over the years. He sometimes replies with a sentence or two in a letter that is unsigned. He refuses to autograph anything for fans or anyone else. I don't think he is a recluse, he just has no interest in fandom or notoriety. He does travel from his home to visit publishers and attend business meetings, or did when he was still working regularly.

I think the work he was doing for Charlton in the 1950's was simply brilliant, as was the stuff he did for Marvel in the early 1960's. (The pre-hero mystery and suspense stories especially.) Of course he is well-known for Spider-Man, but his work on Doctor Strange was even more spectacular in my opinion. I think he produced much genius-level work in his prime.
