  1. Thanks very much for taking time to respond.
  2. PGM. Thanks for your time. Superman #65. All pages intact. Edge wear on cover, most notably on the right edge. Cover (and consequently, pages) fairly tightly attached.
  3. PGM. Thanks for your time. Superman #56. All pages intact. Edge wear on cover, most notably on the spine, and damage along most of the right edge.
  4. Detached leaf (a single page printed both sides--so 2 pages of story). Thanks for the clarification of terms.
  5. Thanks, shadroch. You're right about that. I deal in other (non-comics) antiques and oftentimes a bidding war occurs, driving the price far beyond what the 'accepted' value is. It only takes 2 people, as you said.
  6. Thank you very much, everyone. I'm learning a lot even though I've just posted a few books! I appreciate your time.
  7. Thanks everyone. I apppreciate the detailed responses.
  8. PGM. Thanks for your time. Superman #66. All pages intact. Edge wear on cover, including chips on top and bottom corners on the left, and damage along most of the right edge. (As a bonus, wonderful advert for Strange Adventures 1 on inside front cover, but that has nothing to do with the grade, of course.)
  9. If there is anyone who could take a glance at this comic and give me a considered grade, I would really appreciate it. All pages intact. Edge wear, including a sun stain (?) on right edge. The inside cover has red ink bleeding from outer cover, and the outer cover 'billboard' portion seems to have red blurring. I'm interested to know how much this ink blur/leak has on the final grade; that is, if it is considered a flaw or a manufacturer error. Thank you in advance for your opinions.
  10. No, not my copy. I posted this example more for my interest in how much restored pieces lose value. Value itself is relative, of course, and restored pieces have a wide range of restoration. I was just wondering how the community feels about restoration (3 edges trimmed!) that I assumed was rather drastic.
  11. Thank you for taking time to evaluate this.
  12. Thank you very much for the valuable advice. I was thinking that the loose page was far worse damage than the writing, but the latter is easily seen when slabbed, so I guess it makes sense. By the way, is there actually an official GA bump? Sorry if that question is dumb. But I wonder if professional graders do give books a bit of extra credit for lasting so long.
  13. I want to get better at grading comics, so I would appreciate any advice. I am puzzled on grading, especially the lower grades. Here is my copy of Superman 60. All pages intact as far as I can determine--but as you can see, one page is loose. Spine roll, wear on edges, etc. Also, some handwriting on the back cover--handwriting practice and some math practice? Thank you in advance for your time.
  14. Hello, all. I am new to grading comics, so I would appreciate any advice. Here is my copy of Superman 73. All pages intact as far as I can determine, Spine roll, wear on edges, etc. Thank you in advance for your time.
  15. Thanks for your responses. FYI, it sold for around $160 on an auction.... I had heard that purple labels in general take off around half of the value. Guess that depends on what the purple label says. Yeah, I placed a bid for $40. Surprised that the final price went so high.
  16. Not sure if there is a definitive answer, but up for discussion is an ASM #19 CGC qualified graded 5.5. The CGC description notes that all 3 edges have been trimmed. If a non-restored (non-altered?) 5.5 is selling for around $250, what in the world would be the market for this one? It just seems to me that a non-trimmed 5.5 would be preferable, but I guess if the price is low enough for this one... What do you think?
  17. My 3rd comic submitted today. Sorry if I am overstaying my welcome. If anyone could give me an evaluation, that would be great.
  18. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
  19. First time poster, if that means anything. But I guess I want to apologize right away if my photos are inadequate--and also thank you in advance for taking time to help me grade this comic.
