  1. The Tec was from Hakes I believe and went cheap, so you’re prob right.
  2. Gotham Kid: can’t compete with dealers
  3. Might be a while for the action 1, bit like with this and my Detective 27, the stars were aligned. At this point I have the Superman 1 and Action 2-18.
  4. Take a peek! Offers welcome. https://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=13897 Ankur
  5. Picked up this amazing grail recently! The stars were aligned and everything just fell into place. While the book is EP, it was done by Matt Nelson over 10 years ago so I think can be improved. Main area was the spine which was gone, and a long tear into the cover. I posted this in the Superman thread but felt it deserved its own. Thanks for looking at my PLOD! Now the elusive Action 1 remains.....
  6. Yea was looking online but couldn’t find any archives that went as far back.
  7. Thanks! I had an offer towards that higher end on eBay.
  8. All good. Speaking to someone who has collected Heathcliff art for 10+ years, he told me he’s never seen a Sunday come up for sale. While Garfield may be more popular, scarcity is also part of the equation. With 10,000 Garfield strips/dailies coming to the market, it will definitely effect the value.
  9. Yes that’s correct. Still have no idea how to price it. Did so based on the ask of a daily strip on eBay.
  10. While Garfield may be the more popular orange cat in town, Heathcliff predates him. What’s interesting is there are very few examples of strip art on the market. I recently picked up this Sunday from a local collector, and can’t seem to find any comparable ones sold at auction. Anyone here have insight on these? Did the family keep most? Thanks!
  11. Great report. I feel bad for the consignors but the buyers must be thrilled!
  12. I had a letter published about restored/unrestored. Will find a pic.
  13. Not sure if I posted this one before 🤔
  14. People have different tastes when it comes to collecting. The great thing is that there’s no right or wrong way to collect. Is it driven by money? Yes. Driven by fear? Partially yes as well. Grading has taken some of the guessing game and fear out of buying comics. It’s a necessary evil if you will. Nothing is stopping you from cracking a book out once you buy it, that’s your choice. If reading original stories is your passion, you can save a ton and read trades which have reprinted many golden age stories. When prices have gone to these levels, this has become an investment along with a hobby. This paradigm shift is supported by many who make money. Its also by droves of collectors supporting it. Can’t have one without the other. In the end collect what you love and enjoy the hobby. Don’t get caught up in the hype or focus so much on what you dislike.
  15. Posted some new art for sale in my caf. Offers welcome on all pieces! Highlights include a Chic Stone Batman 200 page! http://www.comicartshop.com/ComicArtShopsByCat.asp?GCat=236
  16. Plus many other CGC books! Take a peek and feel free to message with any questions. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F293219400047 Thanks Ankur
  17. Many people have a tax exemption. So a $500 mark up is too much on a $2000 piece? Have you seen dealer mark ups?
