I guess this is the proper place to post this...Since everyone really doesn't know and seems to think they know.

When I first started my account, right away I purchased a few items, but one of the sellers (Comicgrinder) was nasty and mean with his responses, so I decided not to purchase anything from him or the other seller (foolkiller) then over time I realized this place isn't so bad and made a few purchases regardless of being on the probation list. I even went out of my way to e-mail the previous sellers and ask if I owned them anything in case of a loss. Never heard back from Comicgrinder and Foolkiller said to leave him alone. So there you haven't.

Oh and this Filter81, I just think this guy is bad news. Anyone who lists a comic for sale and doesn't want to tell you the grade, is shady in my opinion. Also never mentioned the book was trimmed, of course he tried to cover this up. Plus he buys a book on CL and 2 months later trys to sell it to board members for $600 above what he paid? I don't think we need sellers who are trying to take advantage of follow board members. Board members come here for great deals, not to insulted and over charged.

Well, that pretty much sums it up.

PS: I don't personally know anyone here and could be wrong in my analysis, after all this is the internet.

As Bucone (and probably just about everyone else on the boards) knows, I would not list a book without disclosing any type of restoration. The auction Bucone keeps referring to clearly listed the book as being extensively restored. It also clearly lists the book as being trimmed. Bucone knows this. The part that has me the most upset is that he knows he's lying and has been asked to stop. I don't know if this is all a game to him or if he really is as messed up in the head as he acts... I suspect its the former. I'm actually a little baffled that he would intentionally ruin a legitimate eBay auction of that magnitude and then continue to act the way he has. If I ever acted the way he had, I would be so embarrassed by my actions I'd never want the subject to be brought up again

All I know is that in less than a year on the boards he's been put on the probation list under 4 different names and has attempted to hijack multiple sales threads started by letigimate sellers. As far as my personal relationship with this kid goes, he's ruined eBay auctions of mine, attempted to hijack a sales thread of mine, and continually made comments attacking my integrity that he knows are untrue when he says them. Just curious if anyone on the boards happens to know at one point what he's doing become legally actionable... Because I'm tired of feeling like I have to defend myself against this insufficiently_thoughtful_person's comments in case someone happens to read them and doesn't know him and doesn't know me.

But just for fun... as far as the book I was "overcharing" for...

It was an ASM 129 CGC 9.6. Apparently Bucone is upset because I had the audacity to win the book in a public auction at an 18 month GPA low, only to relist the book a few months later with an asking price of exactly what the last 9.6 sold for and $8 higher than the 12 month GPA average.. Which apparently shows a lack of integrity on my part.. at least when compared to the integrity of someone like Bucone...

(Bucone it really is time now for you to pack up and leave these Forums.... you know you're going to get yourself banned sooner or later anyway..)

:screwy: I never placed a bid on your Batman #1 or did I win the auction, I heard it never sold to the winning bidder and that is probably why you are upset. I tried to find it in the advance search on Ebay, so that everyone could see for themselves that you added trimming a few days later, NOT in the original description plus you would never pin down a grade, just thought that was very odd.

Don't know you, so I don't have any reason to lie or make up a story. So, you are the one that is lying.

  2. As much as I appreciate your concerns, we all have the right to do what we feel is right. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but feel there are several members who come to this site in search of a good deal and shouldn't be mislead.

By "mislead" (it's "misled", btw) I'm assuming you mean "try to sell books here and have the buyer flake on them"? Because, yeah, that's kinda the purpose of the probation list - to warn members about the people who do this sort of thing (thumbs u

ahh, no...maybe trying to over charge for books. Trying to re-sell a book at 40% profit in less than 2 months is nutz. Anyway, I'm here to help the little guy and won't let you big bad wolves try to take advantage.

  4. Hi everyone, knew poster here. thought I'd add my two cents regarding our very popular Mr. Russell Altomare of Comic Supply. I preordered a collectible figure from him back in July. Not only have I not yet received this item but I have been continually berated by this man upon simply inquiring where the item is. He has lied to me, telling me "the toy" has not yet been released when it indeed has. He threatened me to cancel the Paypal dispute I had opened with him initially (the worst mistake I ever could have made) after insisting "the toy" has been ordered and was on its way. My, at first very infrequent, emails went unanswered and ignored for months... Etc, Etc, Etc. You all know the story here...

Anyway the Michigan BBB has been notified, the FBI, the Internet Fraud organization, the local police, the Michigan Attorney General's office, RipOff Report, etc....

I'm out $54.88 i suppose. Unless he decides to make good and refund my money. WHICH by the way he has asked if I would like a refund and then renigs and says that I can't have one!?!

I'm sorry, I've done a lot of online buying but this guy takes the cake. HORRIBLE SERVICE and most likely a probable scammer, but at this point a sloppy thief.

just call your credit card company or bank and do a chargeback, it's quite simple.

  5. Similar to coin craze years back, when an NGC MS70 would sell for 20 times what an NGC MS 69 would sell for, yet they were IDENTICAL coins. The trade was about the holder.

This book is a $40 to $50 book. It is being dressed by plastic with a grading label on it, but it is a common book, with no unusual printing defect flaws in run, no great warehouse fire story to eliminate 95% of the population. Virtually any and every comic collector, like the 12 year old who spends his paper route money on it, have a copy of this book in as issued condition. It is a ultra common.

But so what, if someone wanted the best graded example right now, then there is a premium, to land the only 9.9 Maybe this purchase price represents 1 hour of the buyers time. Maybe he would have gambled it away at the blackjack or craps table (as many people do all the time) but chose to spend money more wisely than that and have something to show for it. Buyer seems thrilled with purchase, price is reasonable as of today.

(thumbs u One of the few sensible responses.

Consider this receipt for lunch picked up by Roman Abramovich:

    abramovichlunchreceipt.jpg

$47k for lunch, and that's all going down the toilet a couple hours later...

Apparently he also tipped an additional $5k on top of the automatic 20%, so his total tip was more than the sale of NM98.

If someone has the cash to burn, they don't mind paying way over the odds if it gets them what they want. Why show restraint?

I'm sure Mr. Abramovich had just closed a major deal. So, you're example is quite mute.

  6. Let`s wait until we get confirmation from the seller that he`s really received payment. I`m amazed how everyone automatically assumes that just because someone posts anonymously here that he`s the buyer means that he`s really the buyer.

I hope for the seller`s sake that he is for real and that payment will be received soon. However, short of confirmation by the buyer or some sort of confirm from Doug that the poster is for real, I think I`ll just remain skeptical and be pleasantly surprised if it turns out to be for real.

  7. While it is graded 8.5 it has dreaded LT-OW  pages. This was graded back in the days, when according to Steve, CGC didn't give books with LT-OW pages grades better than 8.5 (there are posts refering to this - use the search function). although I have seen the occassional more recently graded LT-OW books with 9.0 or 9.2. Other than the page quality the book looks steller.

You`re not kidding, it looks really sharp. I bet you`d do better selling it raw than in a slab where the LT-OW designation will just punish it.

You are implying he should deceive a potential buyer.. :o

  8. Ok, I have a ASM 301 coming back from CGC and it is graded 9.8 and has already been slabbed :applause:

It should be shipped back early to mid next week, so if somebody wants to jump out there and grab it between now and when it gets back, feel free to do so.

I did verify with CGC that it does have white pages.

It has been professionally pressed by Classics, Inc.

    $795 shipped :)

Feel free to PM me with offers.
