  1. The story of this hobby is the original owner (in most cases) receives very little when selling. What your father got instead was immortality in this hobby. That rarely happens.
  2. The guy on the right is Ray Osrin, his best inker, after himself. Matt was best man at his wedding. His wife said that toward the end of Ray's life, the only time he showed interest in anything, like a phone call or such, was if he heard Matt's name.
  3. Hi Joanna, Figure Drawing for All It's Worth is still used as a resource for illustrators. I recommend it to the students in my storyboard workshop.
  4. This issue is tough. I haven't seen a better copy, or ANY other copy really. I've had this for 10 years and glad I got it when I did.
  5. Here's my copy. Yes, it is the Crippen.
  6. I'll to add to this in saying I don't think there is going to be a market downturn on these books due to reasons already stated, there is a cult of celebrity surrounding Baker romance and his other work. A mystery man with an ethnic background and a huge talent who died young. Not unlike other artists whose fame grew posthumously. He was unknown and then became known. Also his work is elusive and requires dedication to find. Unlike other genres in comic collecting these books have a personal ring to them and a comprehensive oeurvre.
  7. Nancy's the gal. How many of her books do you estimate are out there Andy?
  8. I desperately need a Going Steady 12 and 13, if anyone has an undercopy they'd like to throw my way. One of my first Bakers was a low grade 13, but I sold it because it was a fair. No one wanted it, eventually I sold it. What a mistake.
  9. 5.0. A third of the spine is gone.
  10. I used to have a copy. Loved the degraded colour bg. Marvel had a great colour palette back then.
  11. There'a Mile High PR5? Did John McLaughlin own it? Now a 5.0 with cat pee.
  12. You did well. Looks very nice from here.
  13. Very few of my Pictorial Romances are slabbed, but here's a highest graded. Been thinking of pressing this. Very good upgrade potential.
  14. Don't underrate the PR 12. The twist of the pelvis on the girl as rendered by Baker is sublime but very understated. Terrific grade. The PR 8 is a favourite of mine. I was the underbidder on the Ha.com auction for that, then I saw it in Ritter's bin. He'd priced it high, so I grumbled and passed. Regretted it ever since.
  15. Do you own a copy of PR 14? Have you ever seen a copy of PR 14?
  16. So why doesn't Superman just fly over and grab the girl out of the canoe, rather than create this precarious human chain standing on rocks?
  17. I think mine could be pressed to a 5.0/5.5. I doubt there is a 7.0 or better. Not with that tall proportion. How many high grade Baker romances are there? Not many. When they show up, they are a freak of nature. To be treasured.
