  1. When Rick showed up I was blown away by the scope and breath of what he had to offer. His tastes and mine were pretty much lock step. I've bought from him and sold to him, sometimes different copies of the same book at the same time. He made it fun and made coming to the boards fun again.
  2. Kinstler always did nice vignettes for Avon, usually on the inside front cover.
  3. Finally got a copy. Crawling twd the finish line of my Baker covers.
  4. Better pic of one I posted earlier.
  5. It's a quarter of a million piece for sure. Presents well in spite of the stat. The question remains, does this mean the OA for 23 exists as well?
  6. WOW!! https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/covers/lee-elias-chamber-of-chills-19-cover-original-art-harvey-1953-/p/7234-112001.s?ic=Home-FeaturedItems-071515
  7. Not necessarily. Those were more innocent times. A man hiding under a desk with his face just about touching the knee of another man was just another game of hide and seek.
  8. This is the only Quality romance I own and it is Baker, although with a different finish than his St. John's work. Mostly recognizable in the males in the background. His Quality work was also stiffer with less great posing. Whether this was art direction or multiple hands on the work, we don't know.
  9. The first one is definitely not Baker. The Exotic Romances always looked like some Baker in there. But with a heavy handed inker that buries him, if it is.
  10. I'll try for a better pic next time.
  11. Orson Welles' last movie, F is for Fake, dealt with renowned forger Elmyr de Hory, who died in 1976. He imitated everyone. They say that a huge number of works hanging in the world's art galleries are indeed fakes, and if the truth were known reputations would collapse everywhere, along with bank accounts.
  12. And that dealer's name was...?
  13. Actually Mr. Merideth might have gotten one thing right, those pages do look like John Thorton. As somebody who owns a fair share of Baker comics as well as OA, I have nothing that even remotely looks like the art on these disputed pages. Some ppl have pm'd as to whether I thought they were authentic and I have advised to stay away.
  14. Glad to see. Also pleased they mentioned the artists he influenced. When I first saw Dave Stevens work I thought, where did this guy get that style?
