  1. I think they're planning on using her to etch the glass on the plane.
  2. Not the Church, but a very nice 8.5. IIRC the Church was not certified as of the Berk sale, but listed as a raw 8.5.
  3. Yeah, I've met Mike a scarce few times and he seems like a very nice person. I've done a handful of straight up purchases which all went as smoothly as one could expect. I thin this is a classic example of someone's online persona not matching their true persona for whatever reason.
  4. The load times on comicconnect are terrible. It's about 10 seconds for any given page to load. And when they do load they set to defaults that nobody in their right mind would want. If you click on advanced search, then it autoscrolls away from the search menu and down to books.
  5. "serious art collector" = I'm taking my ball and leaving. You're just tossing around insults and then saying you're leaving because others are doing the same? Stick around Mike, you'll find it's a good place.
  6. Why not just pick your favorite 2 or 3 and get them in the nicest shape you can?
  7. I wanted to think on this for a bit and I agree with what Mr. B is saying. I don't know if it's just 2020 crankiness, but a lot of people who I really respect as intelligent and wise collectors are not behaving intelligently or wisely. These discussions have a lot of aspects to consider and nuance is the expectation. As such, we should all be able to speak our minds and opinions without reflexively jumping to slights and insults. I've seen that a number of people aren't posting nearly as much as they used to explicitly because of this. That's not good. We need ambassadors for the hobby and we need intelligent discussion to keep it strong. So straighten up ya buncha dickweeds.
  8. I like you and I like Roy and I like Church books.
  9. Nah, you just press it so that CGC will give it a higher grade.
  10. Man, there was a place in Abilene called Harold's that beat any other BBQ place in TX. If that was still around that might be the case!
  11. Must be something really good in Dallas for it to keep going back there.
  12. Just watched this. It's a real stinker. Just a bad movie overall. Bad acting, bad plot, bad effects (watch the scene where WW rescues the kids playing in the highway -- yes, they had to put 4 kids playing in a freaking highway with a caravan barreling down on them that nobody could see -- how badly they used dolls in it), and unnecessarily long scenes of WW flying around (ok, she can fly, now move on, we don't need 5 minutes of it), in some magical plot twist that made it ok for them to jet set all around the world for no good reason. Pedro Pascal did a pretty good job of being a little hammy without going too far, which is what his character called for. Gal Gadot has the acting chops of my living room rug, she's really bad. Kristen Wiig did a pretty solid job, but her D level makeup as Cheetah was hard to get past. And the only thing worse than the plot was the dialogue. "I've never wanted anything more..." except for giving up your powers that you said you want more in the VERY NEXT LINE. Ugh, this was bad.
  13. I don't know, but I'm sure lou_fine will be along to speculate shortly.
  14. I wonder how many of these BP books are owned by metropolis/CC and are a means to get funds to the business and either Vincent or Steve in a different manner. In the case of the western collection, I could see how you would want to charge a little extra given that you're doing more work for less return. But on a book like this Bat 1 or a NM AS 3, those are the types of items that typically would be offered less of a premium to auction given that it's less work for more reward. Nobody in their right mind would offer an extra 15% on a book like this to the auction house.
  15. Someone smarter than me want to find out if this was graded during the dark ages around 2011 when CGC didn't know GA from a hole in the ground? Could be resubbed from then.
  16. I always forget about Hakes, I guess that's why I still say the big 3.
  17. I've typically put Clink at #3 out of the 3 big auction houses, but they've stepped their game up lately both in terms of quality of offerings, results, and customer service. Their shipping has gone from atrociously slow to blazing fast. Comicconnect, on the other hand... well let's just say I don't anticipate getting my winnings soon. I'll be happy if they're here by the end of January. There's no excuse for that. Oh, and offer a damn credit card option. That's another nickel and dime thing to add to the BP.
