  1. Hard to see CGC as an "essential" business, given that MyComicShop closed down when Texas gave the equivalent order.
  2. I'm skeptical that Top Gun: Maverick will hold its June 24 release date. We here in Virginia are under a stay-at-home order until (at least) June 10.
  3. Clearly Bosco got it, but not you. My post was an obvious APRIL FOOLS, people_without_enough_empathy!
  4. Don't know what you're talking about, man. As released, Justice League: Dawn of Justice was a masterpiece - the highlight not only of the DCEU but the best superhero film of the year, and easily the best since 2008's The Dark Knight. From the characterization of a dark, antagonist Superman to the wisecracking Flash we'd always wanted and the introduction of a modernized Aquaman for the 21st century, the project was an unmitigated triumph.
  5. I'm mean, I'm pretty sure Warner Bros. isn't happy with the finished version of the film either, given that Justice League Part 2 was supposed to be released in 2019. Oh...wait...
  6. Wait two months. It should be available for a normal streaming / rental price of $4-$6.
  7. Sorry to hear that! Particularly feeling this because 1) I'm a huge Wolverine fan and 2) I'm local (Arlington, Va.). Same thing could have happened to me. Here's hoping you're able to recover it soon!
  8. Noted! Thanks much. I will stop spreading the Mile High II rumor now. I *love* that Roy Thomas has said Conan # 3 sold more copies than # 4, 5, etc. and that # 7 had the lowest sales of the first 12-13. Another theory is that one or both of the notations above was false information inserted by Overstreet to prevent plagiarism of his guides. Either way, I think Conan # 3 is over-priced due to the decades-old *believe* that it was short-printed or had short distribution. # 4, for instance, is far harder to find in high grade (CGC 9.4+) than # 3, and # 10-12 are easily the toughest in grade of the first 50 issues.
  9. I'd like to see that. Chuck's maintained in his "Tales from the Database" column that Conan 3 just sold out more quickly because the Grim Grey God story was a fan favorite - that, # 1 aside, other issues sold primarily based on the popularity of their underlying story adaptations. Others believe Chuck himself was such a fan of the story that *he* bought up tons of copies upon release, and self-reported the shortage. There's a long thread here on the boards in which some dealers from the 1970s maintain their theory (which i've heard elsewhere) that the only reasons both Conan # 3 and Silver Surfer # 4 have "low distribution" notations in Overstreets is that both books were entirely missing from the Mile High II mafia find. Finally, Conan scribe Roy Thomas is on record about the print runs in his essay in the back of "The Chronicles of Conan Volume 1" trade that Conan # 7 had the lowest sales (thus, presumably...print run) of the first 13 or so issues: "It would take months to learn this--around the time we were up to # 12-13 or so--but each issue of the comic from # 1-7 decreased in sales before the one before it." He later notes that sales drastically improved with issues # 8 and 9 and saved the title from cancellation.
  10. I don't mind the Mile High II designation (simliar to the "From the Collection of...") because it's a cool story, but yeah - it's a warehouse find. Also ludicrous to give it a Pedigree label when it's a 9.2 of a common Bronze Marvel. I also subscribe to the conspiracy theory that the primary reason Conan # 3 was noted as "low distribution" in Overstreet's was simply that Chuck didn't find many in the MH II find.
  11. That's a solid list, although I'd rate Logan and X-2 higher, respectively, and The Last Stand even ahead of Deadpool 2. Agree that the first Wolverine film was the worst. But it was almost offensive how bad Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix were after how surprisingly good First Class and DOFP were. Similar to how bad Batman Forever was after Batman Returns.
  12. What do you think was the weakest, then? The only contender I can think of is Age of Apocalypse. Folks love to hate on Last Stand but re-watching it now it's not *nearly* as bad as these last two chapters.
  13. I *might* pay $12 to watch Eternals at home rather than wait three months, if it were so delayed. That's on the bubble for me as a must-see, potentially epic film. But...I've never read an Eternals comc, nor felt the need. No inherent nostaglia / emotional connection to the characters.
  14. Yes. That's the point. I live in DC. Normal (non-Matinee, non $2-) theater tickets here are $14-$18. But I'm paying for: a) the huge screen; and b) the social experience / audience interaction. With *very* few exceptions, I won't pay that much to watch the same film on my 50" TV screen -- especially when I have access to hundreds of comparable films I've already paid for (via Netflix, Hulu, etc.) so they're effectively "free." And yes - I'm aware that transportation costs, parking, & travel time, etc. may make a $20 home movie charge actually cheaper than seeing it in the theater, but it's psychological. I still won't pay $20 for a single film when that's more than my Netflix and Hulu subscriptions combined.
  15. Honestly? $10. I'd love to watch The Invisible Man (which is now out), but I'm not paying $20. I'd probably go $20 for Wonder Woman 1984, because I'm looking forward to that one so much, but for Black Widow? $10.

  17. Bloodshot made another cool $19,000 yesterday. Cool cash money, like the ice cold Blood of Heroes running through his veins.
  18. Dang Whet - you jumped from New Warriors & Maxx Ashcans to hardcore Golden Age!!
  19. Pop quiz: How many theaters was The Irishman released in domestically? How many theaters was Marriage Story released in domestically? It was the same release plan for both - a few token theaters to qualify for the Oscars, before movie them to streaming almost instantly. My contribution was directly on-point with no ill intent.
  20. Box Office Mojo actually reported a take of $3,679 yesterday. Still, that's impressive.
  21. ?? What are you talking about?? I responded to this: Marriage Story was released just wide enough to qualify for Academy Awards before going to Netflix. by noting that The Irishman was as well. Nothing in either GeeksAreMyPeeps note about Marriage Story or mine about The Irishman implies that either was pulled early from theaters. Rather, we both noted they were planned primarily for streaming and thus given only token theatrical releases.
  22. No shi**t. It's actually the opposite. The *only* reason Netflix released both The Irishman and Marriage Story into theaters *at all* was so they would each qualify for the Oscars. Both were intended as primarily streaming releases.
  23. Oh dang. Even with only a $16,000 take yesterday, you may not be wrong.
