  1. The Ambush Bug mini, Son of Ambush Bug, and the Ambush Bug Stocking Stuffer Xmas special are near and dear to me to a degree I'm uncomfortable discussing... When AB (SPOILERS) deflates Darkseid, i thought that was the funniest thing as a pre-teen comics fan. The Mitsu Bishi panels (though not exactly racially sensitive) were a favorite, as well. RIP Cheeks and Kevin.
  2. Nah. There are so many deals happening every hour of every day that I don't see and they dwarf most of the ones I do see. I can't go back and beat myself up for missing or skipping an auction... I'd go insane.
  3. Kirby, for sure. So many creations and stories Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster, for another... they created the emblematic superhero, Siegel went to war, and their individual life experiences as Jewish creators of the most famous comic hero of all time and the struggles they went through with DC. Fascinating stuff.
  4. I lucked in to this Secret Wars Battleworld box set a while ago... It's out-of-print and signed by Mike Zeck, John Beatty, Jim Shooter (x2, inside and outside), Steve Leialoha (x2, inside and outside). )
  5. A very positive update : I emailed back and forth with Nichole in customer service to exchange photos and information. They tracked the original SS designation down and she stated "I have verified that this was intended to have the yellow label and the previous submission number is 4195251-003, anything that was included prior will be restored." So grateful to @CGC Mike and the support folks on this.
  6. There're only 2 issues cataloged in the 9.2 SS column. I'd think they'd be able to match those up pretty quickly, if that were the case... I just don't know.
  7. I sent in a 9.6 SS Stan Lee Daredevil #1 for the Alex Ross signing. After I got notification that it shipped, I signed in and looked at the registry scan. The scan showed a 9.6 SS label for the Ross sig, but completely omitted the Stan Lee sig. The notes in the registry didn't match the label and stated it was now listed as a 9.2 Qualified SS Ross with "a name written on the cover". When I actually received the book, it had the incorrect 9.2 label. Mike got me in touch with customer service, and they're looking into it. I'm not holding out much hope, unfortunately. I know that they want to make things right, but I don't know if they're capable at this point. I sent them a pic of the Qual SS label as shipped and looked up in the CGC census page. There are 16 books listed under the 9.6 SS heading for the DD#1 2014 Ross Sketch cover, and my Stan Lee should be one of those. There are no listings under the Qual SS 9.2 header. All the more confusing...
  8. OK, I will trust your guidance on this, @CGC Mike When I receive the book from Fed Ex, I'll get it sent out again. Much appreciated.
  9. I really appreciate you getting this on CGC's radar, Mike. However, I'm having a bit of trouble with the situation. After poring over some of the other problems folks have encountered elsewhere on the boards, I'm wondering if I should bother. I know I shouldn't pay attention solely to the negative experiences other have had with sending back books for a "mechanical error", as they can be the most vocal. However, there doesn't seem to be much of a positive response for items sent back in. If the end result is that I lose my book for another 5 or 6+ months only to have it sent back with a lesser rating/status, I might as well just keep the book? I would think that there should be some indication of what happened to my book, but I know that the volume of books processed can make that a daunting proposition. And, perhaps my fear is that this will just be given short-shrift and end up losing the original Stan Lee SS due to some processing error that isn't worth CGC's time/resources to fairly resolve. The prospect of going from originally a 9.6 Stan Lee SS to a 9.2 qualified label isn't fair or right. I re-emailed the submissions@ address again with my concerns, but understand they may take awhile to respond. I'm just quite conflicted, at this point.
  10. Awesome, @CGC Mike !!! That was fast.... thank you so much. It's tracked to be delivered to me on Monday, and I will get that turned around and sent back in. Did they find out where the mix-up occurred?
  11. Yeah, fingers crossed... I saw the news about Mike's mom, so he certainly doesn't need to worry about this. Family stuff is more important.
  12. The purchase was actually at the onsite Stan Lee Store at the first ACBC in 2015 (I don't think they're doing it anymore?) and the twist is this : I had purchased the M&G signing with Stan and brought a few books to sign. He had to cancel due to his health, so they offered credit at the SL store on site, instead of waiting for a refund. I got a Spider-man #1 (2014) 9.8 SS slab with Stan's and Alex Ross' sig and the DD #1 9.6 SS signed only by Lee. I only received a simple handwritten receipt that I proceeded to discard. Trying to stay calm about it... I still have the book and the wonderful sigs. Just really hate to lose that CGC status on it... especially since I don't think I didn't anything wrong when submitting? It being the first time I was mailing something in, I was really anal-retentive about going down their checklist.
  13. I just sent in an email to the submissions@ address a little bit ago (noted at the bottom of the registry lookup page). Hopefully, they can rectify that. I would hate to lose the Lee sig in the registry...
  14. Yeah, I should of thought of that, but I'd never done a mail-in submission before... I figured sending it directly in with the forms and all was pretty safe. A bit naive, I guess.
  15. No, I didn't even think to record that, since I was just sending it into CGC. I bought it at the Stan Lee Store onsite at the first Atlantic City Boardwalk Con in 2015, so it wasn't originally registered to me or anything. (I didn't even have a CGC account at the time.)
  16. Yep, it was a 9.6 graded book in the standard yellow SS slab.
  17. OMG, I just noticed that, along with the fact that the slab label doesn't mention the Stan Lee signature. I bought the Stan Lee SS 9.6 slab years ago, and sent it in to add the Ross sig. It doesn't note the Lee sig at all. WTF? https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/4219184001/
  18. I sent in a Daredevil #1 (2014) Alex Ross Sketch cover for the AR signing. Book has finally shipped and was looking at the CGC registry notes. Seems to be a disparity between what was graded and the grade on the slab label... Sending in an email to the submissions@ address, but has any one else run into this? (This is the first batch of books I've sent in to CGC, so I'm a little confused... lol)
  19. I was comparing it to similar descriptions I found, like the FF #1 from another post. Their grader notes appear to separate the instances of CT, and looks to be from around the same time period : Grader Notes Color touch (Non-archival material small areas) Center Front Cover C-1 Color touch (Non-archival material small areas) Full Bottom Front Cover C-1 Light subscription crease front cover breaks color Readers crease front cover breaks color Small, multiple smudge back cover I would assume the "areas" is part of the generic list item in their cataloging software. (ie. selecting "Color touch (Non-archival material small areas)" and typing in the location) Oh, well... I'll probably just leave it as is.
  20. I don't know.... the notes from the lookup seem pretty detailed : Grader Notes Bottom Back Cover Small Tear with Crease Color touch (Non-archival material small areas) Spine C-1 Front Cover Wear All Corners Breaks Color Full Bottom Front Cover Lite Wear Breaks Color Spine Stress Lines Breaks Color Spine Wear Breaks Color I certainly don't mind just leaving it as is. I just hate to miss out on a higher grade if it's as simple a fix as it seems. Tough decision.
  21. Wouldn't you think that they would have listed additional spots in the grader's notes? That's the only thing listed (Color Touch Spine C-1)... and while the spine touch shows up quite prominently, there's nothing else like it on the cover. I spent more than an hour with a strong magnifier and the lights (bright LED flashlight and blacklight) It just looks very 'untouched' everywhere else on the cover. Definitely flaws there, with a few color scratches/chips and small creases. Just not seeing anything else that could be considered CT. (to my aforementioned virgin eyes... lol)
  22. I have a Journey Into Mystery 83 that I bought years ago, and had graded at a con in 2015. It came back as a 6.0 Restored C-1. I bought it not knowing that there was restoration done, and I didn't mind it too much at the time... but after seeing this thread, I'm wondering if I should attempt to remove the "restoration". I put it in quotes, because I don't know that it was a purposeful restoration. Looking up the cert number, the only restoration listed is : "Color touch (Non-archival material small areas) Spine C-1" I'm gone over it with a blacklight and magnifying glass pretty extensively (to the best of my admittedly-limited experience with grading), and that spot (right above the ink smudge on the back cover) is the only area that I can see has been touched with a marker/pen/whatever they used. (see attached photo of spine) There are other spots that COULD have been touched up on both the spine and the cover, but weren't. I just wonder if it was an accident or something... In any case, I was considering cracking it and using a very fine sandpaper (200-300) fragment to remove that from the spine with the very lightest of touches and not going too far to damage the spine or go through the paper. If I can get it down to where the CT isn't visible under the blacklight, I'd send it back in for grading again. As I get older, I would like to maximize the value for whomever I pass it on to later in life or possibly sell if I need the money later. Just trying to think ahead...
  23. The Ross signing (1 submission) is listed as Feb 15 to May 5th. I mailed my submissions in early and received (checked in?) at CGC on 3/13. I'm reasonably sure that he's been signing since the start of the event and not in a bunch at the beginning of May. The MIller and Janson event (2 submissions) is listed from Feb 7 to Mar 31. I'm sure that was a large submission as well, but it's still been a month and half since the event ended. Even if the last day they signed was 3-31 and my submissions were last in line (I'm sure they weren't as I shipped them end of Feb), TAT are listed as approx. 20 days. If they can't keep up, they can't keep up. They should give some sort of update if the TAT is going to double their estimate. Certainly makes me wary of sending anything else in for future submissions, if they're that uncommunicative and ambivalent.
