  1. Why start now? If they wanted to do this, they could have asked pressing service providers who submit to disclose this info., but CGC has never considered pressing a big deal. Besides, if they started disclosing (on the label) the pressing services of their new CI Division, people may begin to assume that any label without this designation to be unpressed. If they ever did disclose an in-house pressing, it would probably be in the grader's notes (soon to be called "comic notes") which can now be had for a nominal fee.
  2. http://www.cgccomics.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=3051 Well, that's a pretty good confirmation. This is kind of sad. Next to follow is the purchase of CVA to provide an start-to-end service. A purchase of PGX would allow them 200 or so square feet of immediate access to the west coast.
  3. I had the pleasure of taking some of Paul's money at this past VCC. He was quick to pay and communication with him has been a joy. Thanks again Paul.
  4. I wasn't going to post anything else since, Mangbus really does have a point. But really Dr. Balls? Then again, I suppose you bag tons of women telling them your a comic book collector, huh? The point is your entitled to tell your stepson whatever you like, but that has to be the worse advice I have ever heard. If he really wants a girl, he should just be himself as score a girl that likes him for who he is. That's what a father should say to his son, why would a graphic artist tell his own son to be closed minded? Anyway that's my two sense, I won't be posting anything else about the topic because this is not what the thread is for. Cheers, -Haywire Your humor wasn't lost on me Dr.
  5. Sam hekped make my first ever sales thread a thing to remember (well... for me anyway). Payment was quick and communications were great. Thanks Sam. (thumbs u
  6. Ronnie bought a massive stack of comics from my very first sales thread. Payment was F-A-S-T!!! and communications were great. Thanks Ronnie. (thumbs u
  7. Jason was quick to pay and communications were seamless. Great buyer for my first sales thread. Thanks Jason. (thumbs u
  8. Revat was a real pleasure to do business with. The payment was quick and the communication was excellent. Thanks very much for your purchases.
  9. I will be having my first ever sales thread on the forums hopefully this weekend. I meant to set up at the last VCC but time and family matters prevented me from doing so. I am liquidating my modest collection with the hopes of becoming a more focused collector for next year. I will have lots of dollar books Marvel, DC, and various smaller publishers. There is a good mix of copper and modern, but enough bronze and silver (lower grades) to make it a pretty interesting sale. If it's alright with everyone (I've asked/looked around and it seems to be), all $1 books will not have scans, anything over $2 will have (at least) a front scan, and any books sold in a lot (there will be a few) will have a group photo. If your interested, check out the Mixed Ages section of the marketplace Sunday (7/1) mid-morning/early afternoon and look for "DeadOne" somewhere in the title. I'm thinking of starting with Marvel first. Hope to see you there.
  10. He looks a lot like Rick... and he comes with his own Glenn.
  11. I like this quote from the seller's auction: "No surprises is my goal, I don’t like it when people omit details to get more money and I want happy customers that get what they see and pay for."
  12. That's what I was thinking as well, Mike. I'm normally on the buying end of comics and just don't want to break any rules.
  13. I've been around the forums for a while and have made purchases from a few of the sales threads, but I have never had my own sale thread and am thinking of having one. My question is, if I'm selling a large amount of 50 cent, $1.00, and $2.00 comics, do I need to have scans for all of them? I can understand if the prices are above that, that scans are necessary, but they become overwhelming and time consuming when selling 1000 or so bargain comics. I've been in threads that handle these types of comics both ways (scans and no scans) What is the board consensus on this issue? Thanks.
  14. Easy peasy. Thanks much. See? I was being dense. I believe it also means that you, as the seller, will be responsible for all Paypal fees as well. I think the problem with personal arose when Paypal started cracking down on business transactions that would circumvent fees that are not assessed when using personal instead of business.
  15. Hi everyone. I have found myself in a discussion lately that has led me to ask a slightly off question. Does anyone know what a TMNT #1 was selling for in the year 1993, assuming a grade of NM or so? Any input or even a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
  16. My first transaction with Gary and I couldn't be more pleased. Great communication, AWESOME packaging, and comic books that were in way better shape than expected for $1 comics. :applause:
  17. I'm a Rick... until it actually happens, then I'm this guy --->
  18. Not sad at all. I'm a huge horror fan too. Can't beat a good horror movie late at night. Here are some quick recommendations off the top of my head of zombie type movies people might like (these aren't as well known). (thumbs u - Zombie Diaries (NOT the Romero Diary of the Dead. This is a different movie.) - Zombie Diaries 2: World of the Dead (Zombie Diaries are a must see for fans of The Walking Dead and Romero type zombie movies.) (thumbs u - Automation Transfusion (although the zombies are fast zombies) - Dead Set (BBC mini series) - Trespassers - House of the Dead (If only for Erica Durance skinny dipping nekkid. ) - The 8th Plague - The Vanguard - Last of the Living (Comedy like Shaun of the Dead. Not that good, but fun.) - Quarantine 2 of course since you saw part 1. However, the US version isn't the same movie as REC 2. (REC is the original movie Quarantine is a shot for shot remake of.) These 3 zombie movies are good, but they are really old: - City of the Living Dead - Let Sleeping Corpses Lie - Tombs of the Blind Dead (This lead to a series of about 4 movies.) Other movies that aren't zombies, but have that similar survival tone: - Carriers (people getting sick.) - Plague (All these kids fall into a coma, and wake up years later as killers.) - The Children (The kids in a large group start killing the adults while on vacation.) - The Signal (A Signal broadcast over TV & radio turns people into crazy killers.) Enjoy! If I may, I would like to recommend THE DEAD I finally received it from Netflix this past Valentine's Day and thought it was spectacular. I would also recommend a flick called "Pontypool".
  19. You are right as far as the guidelines are concerned, and the comments above I would have asked via PM (had I gotten involved). However, my opinion strongly differs from yours regarding feedback/references. If I cannot find such in a feedback thread here, or prior sales/buys by the OP, or they do not spntaneously provide it, I do intend to continue asking about that publicly and in thread as I feel it benefits more than just myself. I will of course change that if the sales thread guidelines/rules change. However, for now it is not prohibited by the rules and is generally understood as an appropriate question to ask sellers on here if such info is not provided in the opening of the thread. I don't think our opinions vary greatly. It's not the worse thing to ask for in a sales thread and it doesn't appear to be against the rules. Still, a pm first for the requested information to be listed would seem a good first step.
  20. Do you mean this? We have a standard template recommended by Arch when someone is violating any sales rules. That's the template for rules violations that I was referring to, and it must have been Mike who posted it the last time or two that I saw it in use. (thumbs u So, I'm suggesting we have a much more concise one for threads where a number of community members are concerned without dumping in someone's thread. "no one is standing next to their booth yelling to everyone passing by about how crazy the prices are." This is a fair point, and using a template takes this into account. We might not do this at the shows, but we can certainly take the discussions to places like Annie's List, Yelp, or these boards. Should a sellers asking price and post count be added to the rules then? If I'm correct, the seller in question has violated no rules for the selling forum. No, post count shouldn't be included at all, IMO. Additionally, the only aspect of pricing that need be included in forum guidelines already is--a price must be listed that the seller will sell the item for. If someone wants to price something at an outrageous amount, that's his or her call. I'm only suggesting this as a means of redirecting commentary about a seller's thread to the correct place--here, and not in his or her's sales thread. I agree that some folks were a bit out of line...felt adding a comment would only make it worse so I avoided the thread entirely. Yes the price was way out of line...and in my mind the reasoning for such was pretty poor (pricing as if the back cover did not exist ) Nonetheless, he did everything he was supposed to do...full disclosure, attempts to reassure buyers with further info/discussion, etc. At that point, it is his chunk of internet real estate and our agreed upon etiquette here is to leave him alone (and honestly the thread would have died a quick death if not for the pricing comments). Hell he even ran a grading thread on the book (the link to it was posted late, but it had been there all along for the dilligent buyer to find by checking his previous posts). Anyway, the one thing I will throw in here (since the above has been said by others) is that post count DOES matter. I know we want to treat everyone equally, but the simple fact of the matter is that if you come in just to sell or buy (not saying that was the case here, just generally speaking) it raises a red flag during your first bit of time here. I routinely post in threads of those individuals (that have something I am considering) asking about references/feedback. I do not do that with long-standing boardies (even if it is my first transaction with them, since I have seen them successfully complete others). Anyway, that concern is triggered almost solely by post count/registration date (sometimes people jack their posts up quick in the testing threads and whatnot). I try to be polite about the request, and suggest that contributing to the community would put more buyers at ease and increase the likelihood of their thread being a success, but I do factor that information in A sellers post count matters to a potential buyer, but according to the rules, doesn't apply to the seller when listing comics for sale on the boards. Neither does asking price, and neither should have been mentioned in the sellers thread. All should have been done via PM, as well (I hope) as any requests for references/feedback. Just my opinion.
