  1. Received: 3/1 SFG: 3/5 still waiting. I've been seeing people with Received dates similar to mine start with the Grading process recently so fingers crossed.
  2. Good question. I'd like to reduce the amount of shipping between submitting my comics, getting them pressed, and submitting them to CGC. I've had an issue in the past in which I submitted a few comics to a presser located a few states away and it was lost in the mail when it was shipped back. Obviously not the presser's fault, but it made me cautious about the fickle nature of shipping expensive stuff. Plus I'd like to actually meet the presser face-to-face and express any concerns/comments I have regarding certain comics I'm submitting.
  3. Just got to say that my experience w/ MCS has been amazing. I do wish they were a bit faster w/ processing slabs to be available for auction/eBay and there was a better way to look up past sales data for slabs without having to hunt them down within each auction group (if you can find them). But those are pretty minor issues, still love using them for selling and their CS is fantastic.
  4. For the East Bay, CA, there's a few notable ones: Cape and Cowl Comics -1601 Clay St, Oakland, CA 94612 - Easily my favorite spot in the Bay Area. Fantastic back issue area, constantly revolving top-shelf selection of keys, super nice staff. Prices are extremely reasonable too. Flying Colors - 2980 Treat Blvd, Concord, CA 94518 - originator of FCBD. They'll be moving locations soon apparently. Have a nice wall of keys but the prices can sometimes be a little crazy. They are VERY anti-slab so don't bring up CGC unless you want to get lambasted by an angry nerd.
  5. Did you ever get an answer for this? I realize this is 2+ years old, but I was wondering how MCS handles consignment sales given we don't give him our SSN.
  6. Very, very happy with my latest pre-screen: and a very nice POP 1:
  7. I'm currently doing my 1099-K expenses now...I really need to set aside money for yearly taxes lol. But yes, all income you make should be reported regardless of amount. If you sold it on eBay, the IRS has that info so you most likely should report it.
  8. nothing better than seeing a $450+ charge on your card for a 25 item 9.8 pre-screen submission of 70s-90s books. Now just F5ing until they show which ones were rejected.
  9. so this isn't comic related, but this eBay listing made me LOL. https://www.ebay.com/itm/176283445602?itmmeta=01HRZ3DDA5F5NQYT8811N1BJV8&hash=item290b4fe962:g:TdIAAOSw1bVl8OEm&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8EdqeHYTN16dX%2FhqWRWA7AJu1sVElh8dj5C1cIhUonexRStRycST0ZuUvoxckMMhsZapvTgv%2Fq1F0wlKf71S2Gpole6crgLOOob9W1%2B9lgPCiWq9pcU4VxvQ0wqduQH9MX762IHto6rXoH8SwZ54MqQBv2zjxMZLQEI%2FH5lz0B6W0AMx5%2FAV13riCQjyOayHvoXBRIVWx7doF4QQPuIQ94WA8hYwoCh1P90LkM2spf35E61VgIuXkXzTV3hzKbkPj8bMcuXR9isvxSiO0abHvPghEoZLhXDQEsBvf3O%2B0QsDRXaydQ04WaTvLr0WBnXAmw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBMqNW148dj I love that they upcharged something that goes for ~$40 because the dot looks like a heart
  10. Yesterday I had a G/QC pre-screen submission show the Status of each comic after being billed, but now the status screen is blank for all the comics. Hmm...
  11. I've been loving the TRTs lately. The past few months I've had modern slow pre-screens be received-to-shipped in 8-14 business days.
  12. Hello, I’ve been using a presser through my LCS, and recently they closed down. The owner still says he’ll charge me the same for the presser, but tbh the last few rounds have yielded so-so results. Also, the cost is a bit high. I’d also like to not go through a middle man. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for Bay Area (preferably in East Bay) pressers. PS, I own a pressing machine but I don’t feel confident enough to work on bigger books, and my cleaning skills are not amazing.
  13. There is a reason scammers utilize Money Gram as a payment method, there ain't much protection. Unless you know the other party well, I would advise against it as a payment method.
  14. OK last batch for a month most likely, but I got some pretty nice non-key 9.8s in:
  15. I had a few books that I knew wouldn't get 9.8 so I submitted them w/o a pre-screen, pretty happy with the results:
  16. It was one big box, with 5 separate corrugated boxes inside. It is possible that they dropped 3 of them, but 80s/90s stuff was sprinkled through the last 2 boxes (the last box had half new and half 90s), and all the new books got accepted while the 80s/90s ones got rejected. But the fact that both our submissions happened on the same day, likely by the same reviewer, and non-new books got mostly rejected...seems like an overly harsh eye rather than CGC jacking up our books. Also, 3 of my 90s books did get the 9.8 and those were sprinkled throughout, so I'm leaning toward no damage.
  17. Update: my other box that was in the same package as my prior giant reject submission was shipped. I had half 80s/90s books and half books from the last 2 years (typically straight from the manufacturer)...all the 80s/90s books got rejected and all the newer books got accepted. Good news is that it's likely not a damage issue, but bad news is that I'm pretty sure we both just got a super harsh grader.
  18. Wow, wtf is that about?? Maybe we got a supremely harsh grader? Guess we'll both see when we get our comics back. Also those are some badass books, praying for no damage on your part
  19. Nope, I've done many 9.8 pre-screens in the past, and typically get 75-85% success. Ugh, nervous to get back the comics, hope they're not destroyed and I just got a super harsh grader. I have one more submission from the same package coming up w/ a few relatively new modern books, so I guess we'll see if those get rejected as well.
