  1. Agreed. The first issues have always been popular and valuable, but once you get past the top ten and a few select books most do not sell for big money....still an amazing series, I like it much better than TWD.
  2. I've very familiar with the value of #1 I've owned three copies, currently have one as part of my final collection...7-8 years ago I remember #1 was a solid $100 book in VF/NM raw, I know because I sold one on ebay. It's been a gradual increase, and I'm not disagreeing with you but the price increase in this book over time has been much more organic and 'natural' then what we usually see in this thread. #44 for example, has spiked and fluctuated, but this book and other keys in the series have not seen any of the collectors going after them specifically like they did for TWD keys (like first gov, first michonne, ect.). You can't buy the whole run now for $300, but there was a time you could buy a huge run of it for $400-500 pretty easily...
  3. Invincible is greatly underrated, but before the heat of the series in the last 12-16 months full runs did not sell for much premiums over cover price. Unlike TWD, invincible didn't have a lot of collectors/speculating going after key books and appearances, two years ago I couldn't get more than $2/book for a big run of these comics. I finally sold the lot online last year when interest started to spark, but it wasn't an easy sell. Issue 1 has been on a slow gradual increase for several years, maybe a decade or so (I'm down to my last copy), but of course it's spiked even more so in the last year+. The first few issues have been valuable too but once you get past the double digits you can find most if not all of them for a pretty reasonable amount.
  4. No, you didn't (at least not in the last dozen or so pages, I haven't gone through all posts in this entire thread). You should be able to summarize my question with a few words sentence....why does it matter or why do you care if there are 333 or 555 copies of a variant? I'll even give you an example, I monitor and track house sales in my neighborhood. There are a variety of reasons why I enjoy doing this, but to answer with a few words: I want to see how the average homes in my neighborhood sell versus comparable properties within a certain geographical area.
  5. If you're a collector then why do you care if there might be: 450,576,784,934,1313,2200 or 5102 copies of the book?
  6. Is the 90/91 Overstreet too early for this reference lookup? It's showing 332 as $9 in NM.
  7. Wow, little early to be getting-into it, you might have a problem...
  8. I don't know what WW2 bunker you found that chair from, but it does not look made for anything but hitting guys over the head with in a wrestling ring.... You have a lot of space for stuff on the walls, some type of shelves to add something to the bare walls whether to hold comics or statues would really lively up the room!
  9. Hey, you have two of my green marvel boxes, where did you get them? I love that rustic stand, needs some comics, no?
  10. You know the seller is a participant in this thread, right? He alluded to this a few pages back....
  11. So to pinpoint - you're looking at it as an investment....do you think it's wise to base that decision on significant material gaps in data? This is the equivalent of buying equity in a company and not knowing how many classes of stock there are, let alone the number of outstanding shares that make up the capital structure....
  12. I have a question for Geeks....why do you care how many copies of a variant might be out there, we don't know how many copies of X-Men #1 are floating around....?
  13. I pack them in the same way as I would pack a lot sale of books from ebay; I bundle them all together with lots of bubble wrap and then box them. I think CGC recommends a limit of ten, and you could do that as well so you would have separated cardboard 'blocks'.
  14. That's good to know, I have a batch of moderns received by CGC last week, I'm hoping to have them back in my possession (mailed to Canada) by the end of next month. Let me know when you receive your books Bird as my timeline is similar....
  15. That's why everyone (including the impressionable Nicos) need to follow suit....he would be the online comic-equivalent nut of those religious toting people you see in major cities.
  16. This stuff is all great Chuck, so to summarize we should all put jaydog on ignore?
  17. Ya that story doesn't make much sense, just show up the day before the garbage or recycling is due and cart all his stuff to the curb. You don't even have to bring the mess home with you....Then load up the 200 Spawns into your car....
  18. How does a LCS maintain that stash for so long? Did they have any other Valiants?.....there's an example on the VF board of a member that acquired a case of Harbinger 1s.
  19. Let's just all agree that there is an endless supply of both books out there!
  20. No doubt these books are tough to find in high grade, but the question is - who cares? I have some Batman ones because I find them neat and are a part of my Batman collection, but I doubt I would pay anything for them...
  21. This is all hearsay, you don't know who the buyers are or what the intention is of every item purchased.. Unless you were involved in these auctions or have first hand knowledge, then by all means....
  22. Red Hood was talking about passing on all Valiants over $10. It's that mentality that allowed me to grab multiples of the biggest Valiant key at pennies on the dollar (just last year!!), while every other mainstream (Marvel/DC) lot run by this auction house sold better than what dealers would get at local shows. If the broader collecting public wants to ignore the spectrum of non Marvel/DC books...well.....
  23. Sooo me buying an Armorines #4 in NM shape (that say in a LCS for years for cover) is proactive or reactive? This is one example out of dozens....would it be proactive to know what a BS Plat looks like in case you stumble across one in the wild? We're not talking books that have been suddenly hot.... actually the best story was last year, I grabbed several large lots from an local online auction house that advertised over 100 comic lots. I paid less than cover for a lot that had multiple runs of Harbinger (four copies Harbinger 1), Magnus, Solar, Eternal Warrior, etc. This was last year, on comics that have been around for over two decades, some of which were always valuable (the Harbinger Pink from the lot is at CGC right now....)....
  24. Thanks! Without guys like you I wouldn't have found as many gems so cheap!
