  1. That's what I meant, maybe I didn't phrase it correctly....there's a huge risk if you don't declare this, you're bringing (importing) goods across the border from Canada into the US, it's clearly illegal if you don't declare them.
  2. Your plan is to bring books across the border to ship out of the US....better hope you don't get caught!
  3. Maybe, but that's not something I would say to a VP....
  4. Thanks. So something worth keeping an eye on.....I've been dormant in this thread for awhile (I think I gave up around page 1000 :P), I might have to do a light skimming - as one of the execs at work always say 'don't need all the weedy details'.
  5. ? Where did I ever say I disagreed with that price, I'm saying it's not a cheap book, and hasn't been a cheap book.....Batman 423 (at this same type of venue) is nowhere near the same price point as hulk 340. I've passed on many in collections for $5 or less not that long ago... *additional note, Hulk 340 has been a wall book for a lot of dealers for awhile, Batman 423 might be up on a wall depending on what they have - I don't put it on my mine, but that's just me.
  6. Well there's lots of other junk that sells for $80 or more, so relatively speaking - not expensive.
  7. For the dumb masses, what's the deal on this UPC version - how rare we talkin'?
  8. Hulk 340 is already an expensive book, locally at the shows it's priced anywhere from $50-100+ for raws...
  9. So a 'not really for sale' thread....
  10. Agree, I don't really understand the point of this thread? Also, the OP says he's not looking to sell, just contemplating.
  11. 150 Longs, wow! That is a massive haul, congrats! What's the deal on this first book?
  12. $150. And it was the only ashcan the seller had, so I do think more of these will surface over the years but I have no doubt the full production run for each book (all colors) is not in existence anymore.
  13. I'm taking the viewpoint that these books weren't tossed, in bulk, but a few probably got tossed over the years by individual owners. We're talking about something where there were 50+ copies made, and again, I purchased a raw black #3 from the Netherlands - so these books did travel! I think we'll see more of them surface, sounds like the next basis for a poll! Oh and amazing find btw!!!
  14. Just some history on this, #2 was my copy. I purchased it raw from a seller from the Netherlands god knows when and subbed it with a yellow #1 and a yellow #2. I sold that copy along with most of my ashcans off ebay in more than one transaction but to the same buyer. I never completed a full set, I had 11 out of the 12 when I decided to sell them; they were buys at different times from different sellers.
  15. Okay, that could explain it. I'm surprised I don't see more of these pop-up, I guess they got trashed over the years.....
  16. I assumed this box was purchased at a local comic book store, because we don't (or didn't at the time of these comics) have JC Penny in Canada....it's possible he bought it there in the US but super unlikely.
  17. I had a seller come up to me with a batch of comics for sale. He had a longbox as well as a bunch of comics in this box, I didn't buy the lot but I got the box which I'm quite happy with!
  18. post on kijiji and you'll get a ton of hits from dealers in the GTA....
  19. Where I am, I'm not getting a dollar a book for these runs....I remember I had a mid grade run of SSM years ago that took me a long time to sell locally for $1/each for the run, it had a lot of keys in there too (first five issues I think, etc.).
  20. That's great, love the oilers logo on the wall, did you paint that?
  21. I see. It's too bad, because bagging/boarding is probably the most arduous task (most manual and best candidate for outsourcing) of organizing...
