  1. - 10% Price Drop - 1 week only special then the sale will close - Ends March 14th, 10 PM EST. Hey Guys, We're looking to upgrade our living situation and are actively house hunting; I've been slowly piecing-out some of my collection that I can cope with divulging. These books were a part of a collection I purchased a number of years back, I'm fairly certain no book has ever been pressed/cleaned in any way (they were graded a long time ago). Unfortunately my scanner isn't big enough, so if you want clearer, additional pics let me know and I'll provide them. Terms: No HOSers, No Probies! Shipping: Canada $20 - 1st Slab (each additional slab is $5) US $25 - 1st Slab (each additional slab is $5) All shipping by Canada Post (slabs will be boxed and bubble-wrapped) - I ship within three business days after receiving payment. Payment by Paypal only! The 1st Wins! *Also, each slab will have the CGC bag included, or in some cases the CGC 'Ziplock' bags.
  2. Wow. I'm not expecting a LCS to do any kind of financial projections, but making these kind of business 'gut' decisions it's not surprising they closed.
  3. Maybe you are a hoarder.....this thread might go beyond simple organization and delve into deeper psychoanalysis, kind of like that show 'money *mor*n and how some people are not JUST bad with money.
  4. Prints can be profitable if you can get them for nothing and they take up very little space. Just might have to sit on them for while....I had a few on ebay that I never thought would never sell but eventually did (Michael Turner prints); I was about to just toss 'em. I think they would probably do well at a local store, get a bunch of them framed and put them on the wall. They won't even take space away from your buckling shelving units, haha.
  5. Well, comic shows with only one dealer don't tend to attract customers. I've actually heard of buyers that will not go to shows if there aren't many dealers, or enough dealers with new inventory. At our monthly show I'm amazing how many sports card dealers there are, they represent probably close to half of the tables. It's like that place is stuck in an early 90s time warp....
  6. It's kind of ironic to think non-comic fans would typically associate Superman with comics before any other character, even though his popularity is nothing compared to Batman/Spider-Man.
  7. Ya exactly. I find also having stuff like 'staff picks' - where maybe each staff member has a different comic for that month helps provide some good insight and recommendations. That's service you won't find with a discount online retailer.
  8. Great insight, thanks. I wouldn't be selling my old shoes on ebay, however, lol.
  9. Fine. But who cares about the display? I just find it very hard to believe a Walmart display item will have a big collector market. I saw the one your friend won, there's probably a reason he did - that's the most anyone else was willing to pay.
  10. I know, sorry bad quote-etiquette, lol.
  11. So this is what your friend bought? Hard to see how he will make money off it, what collector will think something from Walmart will be worth more than the full hammer price of an auction?
  12. There is an individual (Fine collector might be referring to him) that has a collection of 24 comic longs for 5k (he came way down off his 10k+ ask) that thinks someone will buy it for their family to read.....ya, because families typically spend 5k on books for their family to read The ad (and correspondence I had with him) is quite funny to read, it definitely takes the cake for best interaction I've had with someone.
  13. He bought that whole page of listings, wow!
  14. Don't feel bad, we've all been there while trying to save a few bucks. Sometimes though you have to open up your purse strings. Last year I had a chance to get a X-Men #1 locally (yellow label/purple label) for a pretty big discount to what it would cost elsewhere. Although I was one of the first person to contact this guy he said he had other people interested, I told him I would give him an extra 20% over his asking price, and it's now it's in my forever collection (unless I upgrade! ). Sometimes you just have to pay-up to get what you want. Although it's a commonly-used sales tactic (especially in real estate), but when you look at difference between the spread of what you're trying to save (avoid paying), in your case $30 it makes the decision that much easier.
  15. This is a friend of mine so I hope he doesn't mind me posting this, there's a lot more details but this is the summary: "I've got a few stories, but the best was $150 for 23+ long boxes, sight unseen, all unbagged. Some highlights from that collection :Avengers 1Hulk 181 7.5Iron Man 55Invincible 1 9.8ASM 129 7.5Strange Tales 135And so many more." I've since started calling him Chuck.
  16. Great advice. I'm of the 'one comic' philosophy.
  17. You made your point and we appreciate it, the thread derailed when it became a 'pros vs cons' debate on these. We can draw our own conclusions from the material provided, drop the subject and move on.
  18. Enough with this drawer box talk, move on guys. I would hate to lose these three pages of the thread because someone noted a mod for de-railment.
  19. Ya the whole scene is gold (my all-time favorite SNL scene). When it aired those who are familiar with the skit were dying with laughter, the rest of the audience didn't know what was going on.
  20. That would be great if you had your original condition stickers, this isn't NM....more like a F+.
  21. That's like asking a top salesman, 'how do you close?'. All part of the learning curve.
