  1. I don't believe pressing would be much of an improvement since the visible defects from your scans seem to all be color breaks That's what I've been thinking. I also put the grade of this book around a 7.0 before I posted, so it's good that I'm not totally off, . Thanks guys.
  2. Thanks guys. Any thoughts on pressing?
  3. Are those Sandmans up for grabs? I need a bunch of later issues to complete my set... well - pretty much --- but I will have to see after next weekend - they are packed into t he show inventory at the moment - Alright, shoot me a pm after the show!

  5. That was a helluva find, but I question the claim there's only 25 of these out there? I've owned two at the same time not that long ago; still very, very rare and hard-to-find. Did you read the article? It said the first 25 winners received the silver foil. And then a little further down, it reads "It has been suggested that more that 25 of the silver foil variants may have been produced but, whilst this is certainly possible, there is no direct evidence of this." Yes, extremely rare! A helluva find in a group of comics. Well, how can you prove there's more without having seeing >25 at once, or having someone directly involved in the manufacturing chime in? Anyways, my point is, compared to other items of apparent rarity of 25 or less, they seem to pop-up much more frequently. Again, I've owned two at the same time, purchased from different venues at different times - just anecdotally opinion. I see what you're saying. I just posted to clarify that the article didn't state the 25 produced as fact. They admitted it's possible there were more manufactured. Besides mine, there is only one on eBay and they want $1,200 for it.

  8. The diamond ones are supposedly rare. I'm sure valiantman or RMA can confirm. The other not so much Seems like a homerun to me especially if you're a valiant fan Nice job Unity Diamond Backs. Most Valiant collectors have a set, they usually go for around $100-150 a piece, with number two being a little bit more of a premium over 1 (it's a bit tougher to find). The print runs are 500-1000 each. And if you sell them you should list them as a set, they sell better than listing them individually because there's far more buyers looking for a set than just 1 or 2.
  9. Someone is either hell bent putting together a run or not going to pay. I don't follow this site at all, does this happen often? I mean what's to stop a guy with a 9.4 on ebay for a fraction of this price to run up the 9.6 to create false activity, then not pay?
  10. no - was a purchased collection - looking over several earlier discussions - this is kind of the best all in one "in the wild" area to drop book finds (keeps main area cleaner). one last pic - I have not posted all the books - but a nice sampling of them. Total for silver was 290 - mostly marvel and dc -like 20 others. been holding on to that CGC coupon - looks like a great time to use it the spideys - are in the best shape of the bunch. Though- a little staining on the 9. ... Awesome books, Dave!
  11. Wow, that's nice of her. Was it her husband's or son's collection? Husbands collection. She is still married to him and I am trading hockey cards for comic books. The collection starts at #95. She was going to throw them out as the LCS offered her next to nothing. Word of mouth brought her my way via a friend. I'm sorry but this story sounds like BS, throw them out? I'm sorry you feel that way, but you are wrong! Are you married? Have you ever tried to sell to a LCS? Have a nice day! I don't know what either of those questions have to do with her excuse of throwing them out? My comment was that it seemed ridiculous, that someone would avoid taking 3-4 binders which is not a lot of work down to a store to get $50-100, and instead toss them out. The story seems very odd, why wouldn't you deal with the husband directly if they were his? Dr Phil: "In this week's episode, my wife traded away my stuff for hockey cards!"

  13. (thumbs u Ok, more cowbell: Marvel Comics Presents #79 Complete outlier. Haha, a sale of 10 cents! Why even bother listing that....
  14. Care to disclose how much he bought it from you for? This will be interesting Pretty sure it was reported on GPA as it was eBay... $460 Looks like a low sale at $25 in 07, other than that that sale was a huge loss! I never list by auction....
  15. ...and then, you ratted out your co-worker for not cleaning up his dishes in the kitchenette!
  16. +1000! And do that banana dance for the next 24 hrs straight.
  17. Garage sales are almost 90% misses...I don't waste my time checking them out unless its very nearby or close by to errands I'm running. I did get a longbox of comics for $25 that was almost all Spiderman (a good run of ASM) once! I think I was the only one that showed up with interest in the comics (late in the day) and the guy just wanted to get rid of them.
  18. Yes... but... - the exact ratios have never been known. - it's not clear if CGC gets the identification correct*. * there are numerous cases where CGC has misidentified various Valiant gold variants which are clearly gold. It's hard to believe they would be good at identifying glossy vs. not-as-glossy but otherwise-identical. The paper stock is different, it feels like sandpaper. I know, I have one that came back 9.8 There's a difference. Whether CGC consistently knows the difference is in question. They often mislabel books where there is a variation... no matter how obvious. For example, this is not a gold edition. It is a literally worthless (9.2 is below average for this $1 book) common version: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131570773359 If anything, it sounds like you have no idea you know the difference cause you never held one in your hand before, and you call yourself a valiantman I think Valiantman had the first ever 10.0 Rai 0? He can correct me if I'm wrong....
  19. So a BA first app semi-key selling for guide in a slab that cost $25 or whatever is surprising? The # of watchers is probably surprising...not the strike price (thumbs u The number of watchers probably doubled from your original post whetton. I have a bunch of CGC Demon books, the covers are pretty amazing!
  20. The bigger crime is selling X:O #1 for $5. I didn't think that book ever sold that low....send the rest you have my way, . I picked up an X-O #1 priced $5 and a few other cheap key Valiants last year at NY Special Edition. And then the seller discounted the lot on top of that. I really don't see the point of selling key books that cheap...maybe if you 100 at $1 a piece, but even still.
