Copper's Heating/Selling Well on Ebay

I'm not sure why ebay wants to make their market less efficient. What difference does it make to them whether BO sale prices are public? -

Happy to help, but it's really the CGC Board itself that gets the credit...just check the "Bronze/Copper's Heating Up On eBay" threads that we have here in their respective forums once a day. Once you scroll past all the butthurt/vitriol posts, there are actual nuggets of fact you can use where people report stuff that's trending up. Peace, Chip I follow all those threads and like to think I stay current, but clearly there's lots that slips through the cracks, . -

Wow nice haul chip! I owe you one for posting this blog, I had Suicide 23 sitting in a 50 cent box for my next garage sale...you need to stay on the ball with all these copper books which have taken off, . -

I don't think the number of watchers should hold much weight. I had a disappointing auction end lower than what I thought with over 40 watchers. And especially when these actions are being publicized, how many people are are new watchers that wouldn't be there otherwise? -

Is this really noteworthy? Current price less than the cost of grading... -

Am I the only one who thinks Stan's parkingson's scribble all-over-the-cover devalue the book? I can't believe people pay that crazy premium... Depends on sig placement. That one is pretty badly placed. You'd think the cover artist and/or creator would take issue with this. This is like your boss accepting acknowledgement for a report you did for someone else. -

Aside from this question, unless Stan has been diagnosed with Parkinsons' disease this is an unhappy comment. If he has, it is even more unhappy. Unhappy with a roof? -

I know it's heating up because of the JLA Dark news, but the Demon is such a cool character that this shouldn't come as a total surprise.Besides Darkseid, I always thought the Demon was the most noteworthy character that Kirby created for DC, especially considering how well he has evolved over the years. Also, while I'm sure it had a nice sized print run, I don't think it was hoarded in the numbers that Kirby's 4th World books were. Early issues were some of Kirbys best DC work. Plus, it's a book that I always grabbed when I saw it in a long box so that's always good. I just picked up a collection of high grade CGC Bronze/Silver, in it were four Demon books. And I have to say the covers on these books is just amazing to look at! -

Has there been movement in Valiant books? Because I don't see much movement, even on "keys" and variants. Have any of these comics even climbed back to their early 90s highs? Seems to me like many of the Valiants can still be had today for a song just like in the late 90s/early 2000s. That is correct, prices have reverted back to previous lows (maybe not all-time lows), but they've gotten pretty cheap across the board. -

You want to talk about how much the latter has taken off? I bought a collection consisting of just CGC bronze/silver, and in the lot there was a DS 169 9.2. The seller had paid $168 shipped in 2006! Crazy, eh? -

I think I would be in jail if I applied your practices into my employment. Ebay, however, is a free marketplace. I thought Rikers was your address? What's Rikers, the name of your bus stop? -

You think 98/99/106 is undervalued? They're reprints, I think when high grade versions start to equal the price, or close to the price, of low grade versions the ceiling is hit. Yes and were not there yet. The most interesting part about this to me is that DC just sat and watched Marvel reprint old stories for two decades. It's a testament to the brand of Spider-Man vs anybody else. Alright, then I'll sell you 98 and 99 (low grade copies) for $40 shipped. Why would I want low grade copies for that price? We were talking about high grade copies and currently high grade don't sell for much more than that. Because you said it's undervalued, is that not what people do why they find cheap investments? -

I know that seller, and it looks like all his auctions are on the high side. This was a good sale for him. It didn't sell . . . I guess I should have looked for your kissing emoticon. -

I think it's a 7th printing. A first printing would have a red logo. Yes, but still worth saving. A second print (and even third) would be a nice find indeed... -

You must be in the US then...I think CRA is much stricter because it seems the charities here only offer receipts for brand new items. You guys are lucky! -

Have you done this? I'm in Canada so it might be different, but I'm pretty sure I asked someone at Goodwill if they would take comics as donations and the answer was no. I would love to be proved wrong here.... -

That's not what your listing said. You are purposefully deceiving people. I wonder if you've always been this way and I jus never noticed it. I used to think you were a boardie with integrity. Now I don't see any. Purposefully overgrazing and now outright lying. He did something similar with his Alpha Flight #17 sale. Described it as "First appearance of Big Hero Six" in big bold copy, and then formatted less prominently in the paragraph following it "by their creators," as if the first work by a creative team that's not an actual first appearance is something that collectors care about. Clearly intended to deceive people into thinking that it was the first appearance of Big Hero Six. Most people know what they are buying, you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. You can't do anything about who writes what on their auctions, the buyer needs to understand what they are buying. It really has no effect on you on, so why not just worry about yourself? I'm not in Divad's corner since i've had beef with him in the past but people on here are splitting hairs on his product descriptions about what is "exactly correct to a tee" needs to stop, try going outside for a walk, get some exercise since I know most of you people could use it. Maybe the buyer should be cognizant of what they're buying, but that doesn't absolve his responsibility. How would you feel if a parent or relative of yours got fleeced from a greasy salesman? What he's doing is dishonest, plain and simple. Again, it doesn't relate to you. eBay does have a return policy and even some sellers don't know everything. I think you guys are just tired of seeing him post his auction results in the thread, well...I'm tired of reading off topic nonsense like this in the thread. Maybe you should call the eBay police and tell them you don't agree with his comic descriptions, besides, most people don't even read them anyway, they just hit the BIN/Bid button. If the buyer buys it and is happy with it, then who is he hurting? You? The collector sitting on his over weight rear end at the comic store playing magic cards with teenagers? The guy down the street? Ever think the buyer knows and actually wants the issue? Maybe he's trying to put an Alpha Flight run together? Maybe he's trying to grab all the Big Hero 6 appearances...You're not the buyer and you're not a mind reader and that goes for anyone complaining about someone's auction trying to sell a book, you don't know the buyer's intent. Plain and simple. And to answer your question about my parents or one of my relatives being taken advantage of "greasy salesman" I'd laugh at them for being so stupid and not doing your research beforehand. I work in the trading division of an investment firm of 39 billion AUM, I couldn't care less about a guy making $10-15 on a comic book. What's he doing is sleazy, if you want to hang out with this clown be my guest. Rather hang out with you! I don't think what he's doing is sleazy at all, I do however think that bringing up what you do for a living out of the blue is pretty sleazy in itself, Doesn't matter how much the company you work for is worth, it's pointless and irrelevant to the discussion and brings nothing to the table other than your inflated ego. I'm a busy guy, I didn't get past the first sentence in your rambling. So I threw in a quick summary.... You found the time troll though! Mr. Busy I think I've spent 15 minutes over the last 10 days here; how were your holidays Kev? -
