  1. That's not what your listing said. You are purposefully deceiving people. I wonder if you've always been this way and I jus never noticed it. I used to think you were a boardie with integrity. Now I don't see any. Purposefully overgrazing and now outright lying. He did something similar with his Alpha Flight #17 sale. Described it as "First appearance of Big Hero Six" in big bold copy, and then formatted less prominently in the paragraph following it "by their creators," as if the first work by a creative team that's not an actual first appearance is something that collectors care about. Clearly intended to deceive people into thinking that it was the first appearance of Big Hero Six. Most people know what they are buying, you're trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. You can't do anything about who writes what on their auctions, the buyer needs to understand what they are buying. It really has no effect on you on, so why not just worry about yourself? I'm not in Divad's corner since i've had beef with him in the past but people on here are splitting hairs on his product descriptions about what is "exactly correct to a tee" needs to stop, try going outside for a walk, get some exercise since I know most of you people could use it. Maybe the buyer should be cognizant of what they're buying, but that doesn't absolve his responsibility. How would you feel if a parent or relative of yours got fleeced from a greasy salesman? What he's doing is dishonest, plain and simple. Again, it doesn't relate to you. eBay does have a return policy and even some sellers don't know everything. I think you guys are just tired of seeing him post his auction results in the thread, well...I'm tired of reading off topic nonsense like this in the thread. Maybe you should call the eBay police and tell them you don't agree with his comic descriptions, besides, most people don't even read them anyway, they just hit the BIN/Bid button. If the buyer buys it and is happy with it, then who is he hurting? You? The collector sitting on his over weight rear end at the comic store playing magic cards with teenagers? The guy down the street? Ever think the buyer knows and actually wants the issue? Maybe he's trying to put an Alpha Flight run together? Maybe he's trying to grab all the Big Hero 6 appearances...You're not the buyer and you're not a mind reader and that goes for anyone complaining about someone's auction trying to sell a book, you don't know the buyer's intent. Plain and simple. And to answer your question about my parents or one of my relatives being taken advantage of "greasy salesman" I'd laugh at them for being so stupid and not doing your research beforehand. I work in the trading division of an investment firm of 39 billion AUM, I couldn't care less about a guy making $10-15 on a comic book. What's he doing is sleazy, if you want to hang out with this clown be my guest.

  3. Oh, this is going to be good. What is that? 1st black costume in the SSM title? Yes. It's curious how that relevant part was left out of the "auction" description. Black Cat debuted almost 5 years prior to the release of this issue and appeared in over a dozen issues in between, so "early" would be a bit of a stretch. Obviously not heating up, but I'm sure everyone realizes that since it was a divad post. I'm sure somebody will be along in a moment to take issue with the grading. A 9.4 with those deep spine breaks is a little much, but that's far from the issue here , now that we are deceiving people that this is the first black costume. What I really don't understand is how these are posted after someone hits the BIN's like they are some sort of trophy sales or something and look at it me and what I sold, when in all honesty I personally would be embarrassed to sell that book for anything more than in one of my dollar bins. But back to the real problem, first Black Costume! WTF, preying on people who don't know better is not cool. Jim I think a lot of his unnoticed over-grading is a clear sign of just how many speculators/newbs are in this industry.
  4. This deal was constructed long before the sale. I didn't want to go on ebay, but the buyer wanted the protection so that's why it was listed there. The buyer had already purchased all but one of my previous ashcans, so I wanted to keep these together and I felt the price was fair for both parties. I wish I knew you were selling. I would have made a better offer than 2800. If I just wanted to maximize profit I would have approached the sale very differently.
  5. Why? It's an auction. You take your chances. Nothing messed up about it. That's commerce. Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you. If you want to get your price and take the randomness out of it, then set a BIN At which point was I making an argument for or against auctions/bins? I'm fully aware of the luck involved in auctions.
  6. Really? I would think the opposite would be true, selling over the holidays would be difficult because people aren't buying comics because of xmas.

  8. Anybody that doesn't think there is significance randomness to auction prices is retarded.
  9. Bro, you have no idea how much I've wanted one. Every one I've seen either has the broken lever or tongue. I thought it was quite a nice price too. Fist shoots with that awesome force of other Shoguns. Luckily got it in right before the banning of projectiles. I'll try to take a pic soon and post. Patrick I'm glad you were able to find one. I'll trade you this for it. Ask him to throw in a Swifter duster as well.
  10. Gen 13 1/2 is also a great book. Incredibly tough to find in 9.8, because of the spine. Gen 13 is a great property, and if they ever do anything with it, the sky's the limit. Sure, there were a bazillion blacks printed, but...how many have been thrown out? Probably more than a dozen. The gold black is...well...gold. The only real problem is storage. I agree with Gen 13 - it is a property waiting to resurface....... Many Valiant books are at the lowest they've been in years....not Bronze material, but there's potential there.
  11. I would recommend the gold instead, it's still cheap to be had and a big difference in print run, 10k vs several hundred thousand.
  12. You want a tip...? Buy Detective #311s. Wait for some sort of "announcement." At worst, you'll have a few extra Detective #311s lying around. And a few 100 dollars lighter. FF #45 FF #36 FF #46 FF #52 Strange Tales #126 Hulk #271 Marvel Preview #7 Marvel Super Heroes #18 New Teen Titans #2 Preacher #1 Sandman #1 DC Comics Presents #49 Batman #417 Micronauts #8 The list goes on of books that had little relative value 2-3-4-5 years ago. This is strange, new territory we're in, but it's also very familiar territory. Everyone's rushing to get the next hot thing. The key to making "money" in comics is to resist the temptation to follow the crowd, to run out and spend money on the next hot thing, and buy what everyone else is not. At the prices that Tec #311 is selling for, you have essentially nothing to lose. It's not like it's a book that is going to plummet to $1 for NM copies after you've spent those hundreds of dollars. You're not likely to see a loss if you HAVE to sell, which is a wonderful aspect of many collectibles. Don't like Tec #311? How about Tec #400? Green Lantern #59? Spidey #101? DC Comics Presents #87? Flash #112? Justice League #1 (1987)? Showcase #79? (Showcase is littered with potential, actually.) Blue Beetle #1? Booster Gold #1? All books that were fairly "hot" at one point, but have settled back down to low levels relative to the non-keys around them. If Legends #3 can "hit"...this crazy market can do anything. Sure, you don't know what will hit, and when...but picking books that were "once hot, now not" is a lot easier than trying to guess what the next Batman Adventures #12 is going to be (if there ever will be another one like that.) This is a terrible comparison because I really can't stand the guy; but reading this post I feel like you're Jim Cramer, and I'm of his devoted followers with cash-in-hand waiting to buy.
  13. Do you know how many New Mutants #98 I bought, and how long I held them, before they became "hot"? Decades. And for decades, I took care of them, and waited while everyone laughed at the stupid purchase. And, while I didn't make as much as I could have, I can tell you that before 2014, I never paid more than $5 for a copy, and sold them all for north of $250. Each. The key, as always, is patience. What comes around, goes around. Books that were popular in, oh, say 1985 might show a distinct probability in becoming popular again. Sure, a book like, say, Batman #376 will probably never become hot, because it never was.to begin with. But...a book like Tec #474, that enjoyed a bit of a renaissance in 2005...? Now you're on to something. And it WAS highly sought after, for a brief time in 2005. Then, a book like Batman #404....yes, I'll buy that every single time I pass by it for $1 or $2. It has absolutely nothing....whatsoever...with knowing what character will "have a movie coming out." It has everything to do with understanding what drives the market, and how people react. And right now, they react to Detective #474. A couple weeks ago, Bats #417 got the buzz. Next week, maybe Justice League #1 (1987) pops up. Guess how many copies of THOSE books I have...? That's a pretty solid approach. If you can get these books for $1-2, you have a floor to work with and know you'll probably always be able to at least get what you paid for.
  14. You want a tip...? Buy Detective #311s. Wait for some sort of "announcement." At worst, you'll have a few extra Detective #311s lying around. I posted this in the bronze Batman thread but will post it again here. Those Batman/Tec 70s and early 80s have got some of the nicest looking covers in comics from that era. When I found a bunch in a collection I purchased recently I spent more time glossing over the covers because they were so eye-appealing. That alone has to count for something. And Here's my contribution (not comics related). Buy shares in RIG and/or NE. I've just loaded up on OTM call options on RIG....
  15. In the past year I've been slowly building a collection of Batman/Spiderman/X-men after collecting just moderns my whole life. The first thing I noticed in the collections I've purchased recently is how amazing the Batman/Tec covers are!
  16. Not sure what you're talking about here...? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shadowman-vol-2-1-Special-Edition-Full-Size-Acclaim-Valiant-Akklaim-Shadow-Man-/251665493383?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item3a986ead87 The seller's name is Iggy.
  17. I can't believe Iggy only got $30 for the full-size, ugh. I would have grabbed that in a heartbeat, very rare, very THF.
  18. Why are you sorting by highest listed? Very misleading, like someone pulling up a chart of NFLX stock 6 months ago. Not highest listed, highest sold, and not 6 months, 90 days. The most important sales are the highest ones, not the ones that fall through the cracks or poor listings. Do you identify a single digit outlier on sales? I understand your train of thought; hopefully you have a qualified professional handling your investments and you're not doing it on your own.
  19. Why are you sorting by highest listed? Very misleading, like someone pulling up a chart of NFLX stock 6 months ago.
  20. They're terribly frightened. But I remember when they first came out...$60 each! I ended up buying about 30 of them for $1 each back in the early 00's... i mean't to type scarce yea i also recall seeing them back in the days usually located on the shelve behind the comic guy and the prices back in the 90s were about $30 to $40 bucks. Probably around 10k? I think most image golds had print runs around there?
  21. Grizzley Adams DID have a beard. This doesn't even make sense. Is this supposed to be a joke? *** Go watch Happy Gilmore. Why would I watch an unfunny Adam Sandler POS movie? Because you eat pieces of mess for breakfast?
