  1. Those prices are all over the map! Will this be a dud in 2-3 weeks like so many other hot books?
  2. I've encountered some great deals from sellers applying Chuck's valuation-philosophy, pricing their books according to inventory.
  3. Hopefully you make a few bucks on this book because you've been a big advocate of it for awhile. I have two NM+ copies, do you think it's worth having them graded? I may send some books off to CGC.... Thanks, I really appreciate you saying that. I took your advice about a year or so ago and sold enough to cover expenses on everything I bought from that point on instead of gambling on the home runs. It really improved my returns because losses have mostly disappeared. I personally believe they are worth grading now due to the announcement, the quality of the book, and mainly because the number sold each month has leveled and even gone back up a little. When I pulled these two copies from the back issues, the gal at the counter (who is hands down the best-looking girl I've ever seen in a LCS) commented on how funny she found the book. We chatted for a bit, and I recommended she check out PP...So I guess this book is a hit with the ladies.

  5. With a name like that they should have called Archangel, "The Wasp".
  6. Great points, I'd like to add that the relationship established as a buyer can apply to this as well. I've made some great residual buys after developing this relationship.
  7. The lines around the mask that are the cut lines went over the ears, not around them. Really silly and costly reason to recall, IMO. There was no recall. They just asked retailers to destroy the bad issues. And most of these issue will not get destroyed. I have heard some people say their retailer would not sell it to them. Only because they can get more for them on eBay! I picked one up at a LCS last night for cover on the week old rack. Hopefully I can stil get $10 for it. Jimmy is buying $20 a pop for these (don't ask me why).
  8. Some of the original Valiants, specifically X-O Manowar and Harbinger are around the lowest price levels in 9.8 they've ever been. I don't buy slabs, but when X-O #1 was available in the $55 area in 9.8, it's pretty damn cheap.
  9. Well, if you are going to put yourself out there and offer a whole dollar each... I wasn't the one who first valued them at $1....and the offer is for all of them. How many buyers do you know who will do that...? If I'm going to buy 'cheap' comics online, I always try to get as many as possible to reduce my /book cost. Being located in Canada, I get royally with shipping (both as a buyer and seller). p.s. what's the difference between Capital City orders, print runs, and sell-throughs?
  10. I've managed to grab a couple of Bone #1 2nd prints pretty cheap lately (under $10). Seeing how TMNT #1 2nd and 3rd print took off, I'm putting in an 'Overweight' rating on this security.
  11. So what are you going to do with that 191 smackers!?
  12. The second guys, no, since they're buying/debating Moderns off the shelf, but who knows about the first photo? I know people with *lots* of money who look exactly the same. True, they just don't know how to dress and/or don't groom themselves cause comic guys don't care what they look like. I've dressed like a bum going to local shows because it's a comic show. I wear nice ties and dress-shirts at work; I don't have to impress the dirtbag dealer I'm haggling with. Haha, sounds like a guy in IT. If you're dealing with clients, it's important to look professional.

  14. *Paging creepy guy with the 'stache, you're unmarked white van is illegally parked!

  16. Sorry bro. I said this in another thread but yeah I was wrong. You should release a rap vid on you tube, exclusively devoted to this subject. Hey if that person_too_unaware_of_social_graces that had his guitar ruined at the airport can extrapolate it into a full song, you should have no problems.
  17. What you may see in a 1$ bin comes nowhere near a copy like this one. I just passed on a local buy of NM/NM+ books, and the series of Green Arrow books were in there...I have a few nice copies around, I'll have to dredge em out and see how they'd scan.
  18. You should always hold onto one copy if you have that many...I've found 2 strain variants (6 #1s) for cover over the last year and just recently sold all (including a full run) but my last #1 and #1 variant.
  19. I'm surprised that Green Arrow would go that high, I've seen so many of them in $1 bins...
  20. Why Comic-Book Guy? I think he's one of the least-liked Simpsons characters? I don't know how this talk became a shipping debate (although I found it interesting), but you guys should be fortunate the USPS has such low rates. I can't ship anywhere near 3-6 bucks for a book through Canada Post.
  21. Who collects comics and then sells them like this I guess you've never been to an estate auction.
  22. You didn't show up with less cash than previously agreed upon? My buddy did that once in University, ultimate -move...
  23. If I'm driving, and the place looks super sketchy then I might pass (although I did go to one house that was a total dump). I've only gone to places on kijiji, so at least there, they have a bit more required information, so that in itself provides added security. I live in Canada, in a very safe area, no offense to anyone here but if I were in the US (some places anyway) I would probably take different measures. Edit: Just saw the ad above, that would deter me from selling out of my house!
