How is it even POSSIBLE that somebody has multiple copies of this total no-name book nearly 30 years on, still minty fresh...? That just defies all odds. that is actually how i run into a lot of this sort of stuff when i actually do run into it, like when i secured 20+ copies of the second app of yusaji...they had been sitting in the shop basement forever, he finally got around to pulling that long box upstairs to stick in the dollar area and..tah dah...but yes, that is an obscure one, more common is the box of 90s stuff coming up and i can snag 10 copies of Spiderman 2099 for fun Because this was a mini wouldn't it have been better to grab 7 copies of each issue? sure, but shops also often order heavier on the #1 and get stuck with more of those if the series is a bust, so those might be more likely to sit in overstock. getting the whole mini would likely bring in a premium price if, indeed, the book gets hot. people seem to love getting the whole series. Why are you guys blowing you load on this book, what am I missing here?

so this book is up 500% in a week because they announced the TV show was picked up? brilliant. Well we will have to see if that sale becomes a trend or remains an anomaly. There is/was only one other auction for a raw copy of that book on eBay when the trailer was released and NBC made it known they had ordered a full season of episodes and the book is mid-grade. I would have to think Gotham Central #1 eventually does the same thing in regards to a full season of Gotham being picked up by Fox, but that discussion belongs in the modern subforum. How did Hellblazer respond in the market when Constantine came out? I think there's potential in the last issues in the run as well (grabbed 300 for a few bucks this weekend).

How are either of those books copper? Maybe i'm missing something (checks to make sure he's in the right house).

I thought I might have been able to snag the Saga cheap...not anymore.

Fixed it Why don't we wait until the published numbers are out for this book before you make a case for being legitimately rare. I haven't had trouble finding this issue in any lcs but I would say 80% of the copies I did find still on the shelf had significant surface creasing and indents on the covers. I examined about 15-20 issues, and didn't see these issues. Maybe some regions were distributed bad batches.

oh, I totally agree, but how many did you manage to snag. There were at least a couple of hundred on the shelves when I finally got there last Friday. You shouldn't have said this, the speculators will have the mods delete this post.

Did you know these were at the 'pre sale' before you got there, or just got lucky? Either way, nice haul!!

It's a bit of catch-22, if speculators are the only ones buying, it takes opportunity away from potential readers. 100% agree. Its always a fine line. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. Well if 9 copies is hogish I may have to sell a few copies! Do whatever you want, they're your books. Just remember that unless you plan on holding long-term, and then slowly sell into growing demand, the 'hype' will just fizzle out like so many other 'hot' books. Price only lasts when it's sustainable, and there needs to be steady readers for that to happen. I just went read through my issue, it was solid, I might add it to my sub although I'm really far behind on my pull-list as it is.

This book doesn't seem all that rare. I saw a solid stack of 10 or so at one LCS (haven't visited the other 7 shops in town).

Wow Any idea how many of these are out there ? There aren't many available from what I can see. 5930 from CC, I think most issues are around (or slightly below) the 5k mark. 5k seems to be the 'speculative' number, haha.

How's the top left corner on that book? Maybe it's just the way I'm seeing it, but it looks like it has a crease from edge-to-edge? Kinda like someone folded the top left corner over...hope I'm wrong and that's not the case.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any AMC original series "hits" before Walking Dead came along, so maybe lightning strikes? Really? Mad Men, Breaking Bad. Never watched either. That's why I said "off the top of my head" Try getting your head out of your ? never watched breaking bad Probably best show I've seen, just incredible. I gotta check this show out; see how it stacks up to GoT (the best show I've ever seen hands down).
