  1. That said, Rick, you have to admit, this scenario would never occur in one of your sales threads. oh, I would hope not... and I was just stating generic points... but I also know that in the comic biz, one cannot force their values ,etc onto someone else, when the market as a whole does not enforce it now, that said, if a back cover was photoshopped to look cleaner (vs being cleaned) or if someone asked "has this been pressed" and the seller responded "no", then I would say "dishonest" is an appropriate term... but, folks crack books ALL the time and call it a grade based on their criteria... folks press books ALL the time (some disclose, some don't)... this thread had accomplished what it set out to do, alert the cgc boards to how this particular seller approaches selling books... but if this particular seller doesn't comply to someone elses standards, then I am not sure I would say "dishonest', but more along the lines of "not disclosing to one's fellow boardies" we would hope that we would be motivated to help each other out, but folks, come on, that just ain't the way the wheel turns
  2. That doesn't seem to be the major issue. Grade is subjective. Leaving out it was formerly a pressed CGC 8.5 and it appears the back cover has been cleaned is the problem. but to many sellers (obviously including some boardies) it obviously isn't a problem (to them) ... I can't imagine frank would intentionally try deceive, likely just his sales method and what he believes the book is
  3. a couple of random points we all know grading is subjective, it is just a number, afterall..if indeed the back cover has been cleaned, and maybe even pressed again, it "could" be a 9.2, right (at least in some folks eyes, folks know I can't grade worth a squat over a 9.0 ) and, unfortunately, not everyone believes in disclosing pressing, to them, it is what it is and supposedly is not a big deal, so if they don't believe in disclosing it, to them, there is nothing wrong (now, if someone asked them if it was pressed, and they denied it, then I think we have problem ethically)... would be nice if folks do, but there is no way to force it, so one should ask if they are worried about it, right? so one camp would consider this "dishonest" but the other side of the lake is probably perfectly ok with it ...
  4. 500 smackers or so more than i was gonna go.
  5. ...I still haven't seen a 9.2 yet. while it won't have white pages cgc designation, I believe you will be seeing a 9.2 sooner than later Do you have some inside info that you can share with the rest of us? I am pressed. for time at the moment but I will get back to you Tick tock tick tock... oh, it is not me that owns it, just heard about it (thumbs u

  8. and there we have a lesson on "eye appeal".... or even better, "buy the book, not the label" (thumbs u
  9. I do have a JIM 83 right now (maybe even 2) but no scans handy
  10. Of course, that's exactly the reaction that they've always counted on (and always profited from). actually, the price was way less than lower graded cgc copies have recently sold for, so while they may have profited (which I hope all sellers of comics can do), I certainly would have paid much much more, so I am happy with the end result! as far as "fox file" I thought it was cool , but wasn't any motivation to buying the book (thumbs u
  11. Foolkiller found a decent VG/VG+ PM him if interested as I think he may sell. yep, he found it before I could and when I went to buy the AF15 and hulk 1 from the same guy, he had sold them too (to harley, I think) I am always a day late and a dollar short... I saw that AF 15 and the Hulk 1. Harley scored on the Hulk 1 but he passed on the AF 15 for good reason - despite the "reasonable" price, it was missing half of the back cover and was really beat up. Whichever dealer bought it repriced it way too high. cool, I don't feel so bad then (thumbs u
  12. I think it's cooler than most file copies. (thumbs u

  14. well, at least it was "filed" and is a "fox" book, so I can live with it
  15. that was my thinking too...I went through one of Joe V's boxes and the first 8-10 I looked at had skulls and skeletons and said the same thing "no way, I would have to buy everything "
  16. those that know me, realize that WonderWorld 8 is one of my fav. Golden Age issues, period (top 5-10 for sure)... I was very luckly to recently be able to pick up the Fox file copy of this issue (along with the original labeled envelope where fox stored it all these years!)... thanks to Vin at metro for securing this one for me
  17. this title is so under appreciated by DC fans, let alone timely guys (thumbs u
