  1. Maybe this high price may bring a few more 5.0's or 6.0's out. I think $15000-20000 for the 8.0 Mound City copy looks reasonable now. Define "reasonable"! This book is currently driven by supply and demand. Collectors now recognizes that SC 22 page quality is normally crm/ow. This particular 5.5 has off-white pages, and as detective27kid said " On sc22 pq is a big deal if you are looking for a separating quality over other copies". This copy deserves a premium...but $3803.64??? Regarding the Mound City 8.0, this is the only publicly high grade copy available for sale and the rest is tucked away in collections. Below are examples of other notable Silver Age keys sales which I have mentioned before. Let's use BB 28 and Avengers 1 as a comparison. The 3rd highest graded BB 28 (which there is five) sold in Comiclink for $21000. Also, let's use Avengers 1 as a comparison. A 8.0 (5th highest and 23 copies) sold in CL for $26000 and a 9.0 (4th highest and ten copies) for $20000 again in CL. Showcase 22 is in high demand and there are less high grade copies available compare to their counterparts. Man, the 5.5 got almost $4k....I can't even guess what the Mound copy will bring now. Tim (tth2), any thoughts on what you think that 8.0 Mound may bring at auction? I couldn`t even guess. The market is way too fluid for this book right now, plus I really don`t follow prices of non-NM books. I guess it wouldn`t surprise me if this book broke the $10K mark, but that`s about all i can say. I can agree with that (thumbs u
  2. Why do you say that? I have yet to see Rick WIN a high profile book at auction. that is because books I "will" win, I keep my mouth shut on
  3. That blows my mind. This is a true frenzy being driven by speculation. if not speculation, then desperation
  4. Wow....that is high to me....Rick, (Detective27) what do you think? I have a strong "feeling" as to where the price both "should" go, and "might" end up... however, I have found from past experience that when I am an active participant , I should keep my cards "close to me"
  5. Too busy selling Showcase 22's by the bushel I didn't recognize the cover and only "saw" the 26
  6. I stopped my run at 25...maybe should have extended it a bit
  7. just so you know, that book will likely resub as a 5.0 when I bought it, it was real old label and I showed it to certain folks that felt a straight resub would benefit it... never really cared about the number, but it is a 5.0 in 4.5 clothing (thumbs u
  8. Exactly!! Should have a new addition within the week. And struck a deal for a nice pre-100 Tec as well. well stop dilly dallying around I should have it around my next day off. Sometime next week..
  9. I Think I sold my aman 9 much less than $600 too but, I do have an aman 5 available
  10. I heard Vern say "Timelys will be assimilated" in a spooky voice. I can believe it
  11. It is probably too pricey as is right now to see much of a jump. Didn't a 5.5 go for $60K in the last Clink auction? yep I had 3 AA 16's just 3 months ago, have sold 2 of them...but, this is not a book that will be affected by the movie for the following reasons: 1)short supply...this book has always had more demand than supply and prices are already strong 2)it is Alan Scott, has nothing (technically) to do with Hal Jordan (movie spec) 3) price point (avg copy of AA 16 will run you $20,000
  12. I was playing this same "game" 6 months ago...but, my criteria was 4.0 and above...not just 6.0... I was able to buy 11 copies (12 now) that were 4.0 and above...several were 5.0 and above, one is likely to be a 5.5, the 7.5 and potentially an 8.0.... the book is still readily available in 1.0-3.0 (I know of 9 copies available in that range, but the prices folks are now asking is crazy)... 3.5 is getting grey, but 4.0 and above it is and has been, generally "scarce" long before this last 3 month run up (thumbs u

  15. standard cream to offwhite...trust me, PQ wise, your copy is da bomb! Somewhere out there in 22 land there is a WHITE pager... didn't someone post one in this thread with white pages? again, keep in mind, "white" doesn't nec. mean the color is "white"...just that it is the "best" PQ relative to the paper used on that comic (thumbs u I understand. And yes, Rich (showcase22gr1959) has a 6.0 with WHITE pages. I'm baiting him... my guess is that if you cracked the white page book and compared it to the ow/white copy, they would visually appear identical. Likely the white page copy is ever so slightly more flexible than the ow/w.... I would, however, speculate that 8 out of 10 folks couldn't tell the difference (thumbs u
