  1. Another smooth transaction completed with Rich. The books were graded spot-on and shipped quickly. Look forward to more deals in the future.
  2. Just finished my first transaction with Steve and it went perfectly from start to finish. The slabs were packed impeccably, shipped quickly, and Steve provided a quick tracking number and was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. I'll gladly look to buy from him again.
  3. A little early with the announcement, but next Monday I'm planning to start my 3rd Annual Bunker-Busting-Mega-Ultra-Super Comic Sale! I'm looking at listing several hundred SA and BA books, mostly in mid to lower grade (though a few higher grade will be sprinkled in), at prices that will hopefully be too good to pass up. Plus they'll be some keys, including an ASM #129, ASM #122, Ghost Rider #1, Marvel Spotlight #5, Cat #1, Tomb of Dracula #1, and more. I may have a companion thread to go with it in Copper/Bronze, time permitting. Hope to see everyone there!
  4. You PM said "[ I ] Decided to buy it." And then you asked the safest way to conduct a forum sale. And your defense is ... what? That you were soliciting advice on how you'd buy from someone else, but your statement wasn't a commitment to purchase from the person you were conversing with? Really? Is that the Fletch defense? Sorry, but your chances of buying and selling here are pretty much shot with a large segment of the boards after this. If you'd come out initially and said you bought the book in person instead because you were uneasy about making a large purchase online, that might have gotten you some sympathy, but your inaccurate claims of not agreeing to buy the book make that a dead point. And if you're going to parse words now and claim you weren't entering into an agreement to buy the book from iceman399 when that's pretty much all that anyone with any basic common sense would read into that PM, then yours is pretty much a lost cause here. And there's the root of the problem. You don't care about anything but your self-satisfaction. Principle? Don't care. Honoring an agreement? Don't care. Putting someone else into a bind? Don't care. As others have already said, we've had those types come in here, looking at the forum as a way for solely what they can get out of it, rules and practices be damned, and almost uniformly, they leave the way you will -- in disgrace, and completely oblivious to what their actions cost them. As Dr. X pointed out -- the door to leave the forum is right there. I hope you can see your way out.
  5. Just completed my first transaction with Patrick, and everything went beautifully from start to finish. I picked up a number of books from his recent sales thread, and everything was accurately graded, shipped quickly and securely, and Patrick was easy to talk with as well. Looking forward to more transactions in the future.
  6. I had picked up a ton of books from Robert's winter sales thread, and I have so much confidence in him, that I didn't even open the box for a couple of weeks (due to being stuck at work and a long-awaited vacation afterward). When I did today, it's exactly as I expected -- shipped securely, graded tightly, and all at some great deals. Plus, a couple of freebies stuck in as well. Robert's one of the best, and I look forward to his next sales thread.
  7. Just picked up a high-dollar slab from Nik, and like my previous transactions with him, everything was perfect from start to finish. The book was shipped immediately and packaged perfectly. Nik is a consummate professional and comes highly recommended -- it's always a pleasure for me when I do business with him.
  8. As much a rite of the winter as putting up Christmas decorations is for me, so also is picking up a number of books from Dale's annual end-of-the-year sales thread. And every year, it's the same result -- quick shipping, great books and great deals, and an all-around first class transaction from start to finish. It's always a pleasure to buy from Dale, either in person or here.
  9. I'll echo everything Robert said. I just finished my 1st transaction with Derek, and everything went perfectly. The books were accurately graded, priced great, and they shipped quickly and securely. Looking forward to dealing with him again.
  10. I remember those! I think that's Chet Lemon in the last pic, with a look on his face that says, "I'm a grown man ... wearing tight shorts? C'mon .... " Bill Veeck and his crazy stunts.
  11. Another buyer/seller who thinks he's making a grand point, when he's actually taking an ill-conceived action that will alienate far more people than just the OP. He's not on untrodden ground, unfortunately. As wombat said, maybe it's the snow?
  12. Another transaction with Barton, another flawless sale. The raw books are tightly graded, the slab looked beautiful, and the books were shipped immediately and packaged perfectly. I always look forward to his sales threads, and so should anyone -- my only regrets are not picking up more from him. And he knows his baseball, so I have someone to talk about my terrible ChiSox with as well.
  13. Just finished my 1st transaction with Scott -- a huge purchase from his most recent sales thread. All I can say is -- Wow! Everything was shipped immediately, and the packaging was unbelievable -- everything was protected in every way imaginable. His grading was spot-on, the prices were great, and he was a pleasure to talk with, staying in communication through the whole process. I won't hesitate to buy from him again, and neither should anyone else. A welcome addition to the sales threads.
  14. Chris picked up a book from my most recent sales thread, and things couldn't have gone any better! He paid instantly, stayed in communication to let me know the book had arrived, and he was very nice to talk with as well. Can't say enough to recommend him and look forward to dealing with him again.
  15. Every time Frank runs a sales thread, you're going to find me in it. Top-notch tight grading, quick shipping, bullet-proof packaging, and a great guy to talk with on top of everything. One of the absolute best sellers here.
  16. Joey bought from my most recent sales thread, and the transaction was absolutely flawless! He paid immediately, and he let me know when everything had arrived, plus he was very friendly and easy to work with. I'll be more than happy to see him in my sales threads again!
  17. Another transaction with Chuck, another flawless experience. This time it was for a couple of raws from his latest sales thread. Everything was graded spot-on and shipped quickly and securely. Always a pleasure.
  18. Picked up a beautiful high-grade early ASM slab from Roy. He worked with me on a time payment, and as he's been in all of our earlier transactions, Roy was as friendly as can be. When the book was paid for, he shipped it immediately and packaged it as well as anyone could ask. Consistently one of the best on the boards to deal with.
  19. Wes purchased a high-dollar book from my most recent sales thread, and the transaction was as smooth as could be. He paid immediately, let me know when the book arrived, and he was great to talk with. I've both bought from him and sold to him now, and I'm looking certainly forward to more transactions with him down the road.
  20. That should be irrelevant concerning this topic And that should be irrelevant as well. Although obviously it's not to you. Does that explain you biased posts? That would be plainly sad. It's interesting as well that you mention these facts, suggesting many things, while leaving the conclusions in the open. Is this what you mean when you describe yourself as an honest person who does things in a calm and polite way? Sorry, but I disagree. To all who are here for the right reasons, I am sorry about this off-topic discussion. Absolutely relevant. A link to a thread that illustrated, in a previous instance when someone didn't agree with you, you put people on ignore and got bent out of shape . Pretty similar to what you did here. And while there's a number of reasons to change your user name, often it's done by a member who doesn't want other people to remember what they said or did, so your changing it in the middle of whatever dust-up you were getting in with someone then, if nothing else, is worth noting. Also, it's been pointed out that a large part of why seerojas's PL status might have been overlooked was due to your not following up on it. The fact that you were looking for a way to wash your hands of the forum (when as it was pointed out to you in that thread, no one is forcing you or anyone else to be here) doesn't fit neatly with your claims that everything you're saying and doing here is in the "best interests of your fellow forum members". So again, it's relevant, since your primary defense of your actions -- you remember, actions like calling out Hector and babaooey and suggesting they endorse people ripping other people off -- is that you're doing so for the better good. And if you can show me where I've been anything other than calm or polite in our discussion, be my guest. I've done nothing but present the facts as they've unfolded, with links to actual postings, so also feel free to link back to anything I've said or done that could be categorized as dishonest. I've told you already that I appreciated your bringing seerojas's actions back to the attention of everyone here. And I've tried to give your some helpful suggestions, since the path you're going on has been traveled by enough people before that it's not a surprise how it usually ends up. And for that, you're offended somehow.
  21. Their transactions may be OK, but if I don't like somebody I won't deal with them. It's really simple. Babbooey, Jsilverjanet, RMA, ChiSoxFan, Jeffro, Junkdrawer, DR.X: congratulations: I wanted to make a contribution by warning boardies against a dealer who in my opinion is unreliable and because of you I will not do so again. So what's this all about? The (somewhat) abridged version? 1) There was a transaction over a year ago between Dutch74 and another board member Seerojas that went south. 2) It was brought up in the Probation thread for discussion, but another bigger debate going on at the time overshadowed it and no action was taken. 3) Dutch74, as he admitted earlier in this thread, let it go and didn't bring it back up again. The issue was forgotten. 4) Seerojas showed back up on the boards with a rambling diatribe trying to get off of the PL list, which apparently he didn't even realize he wasn't on to begin with. 5) Dutch74 reappears, following his attempts to delete his profile, claiming he had no interest in this forum ( though he went through at least one name change in the process ). He wants Seerojas added onto the PL list (or at least wonders why he isn't on it already). 6) Several people request further details, due to the lengthy period between the initial proceedings and now, before that action is done. 7) PovertyRow -- who has always had a good grasp of what's going on in this thread -- looked back and essentially said that things probably needed further clarification, calling the situation "a confusing muck" . 8) Dutch74 gets aggravated by the requests, and implies jsilverjanet and babaooey somehow endorse Seerojas's behavior by their polite suggestions of him providing more details or everyone to take things in a calm fashion. 9) I politely pointed out to Dutch74 that, while we appreciate being alerted to bad behavior by board members, not following up probably is the reason the matter got forgotten, not any stance by anyone here that Seerojas' actions were legitimate in any way. Also, and more importantly, I suggested that taking unnecessary swipes at well-meaning others isn't called for, nor will it be helpful to what he wants to accomplish. 10) Dutch74 takes offence to that too and begins to make his lists (and hopefully checks them twice). Also, this happens to him: 11) Friday arrives. Did I miss anything?
  22. No problem, due to the ASM667 discussion you are already on my private list. As are Babaooey, Jsilverjanet and RMA :sigh: If you had done even a rudimentary check around here, my reputation for honest dealings and the way I treat people have spoken for themselves. The fact that you've made that decision, in the light of the fact that all I've done is simply try to give you friendly advice, in a calm, respectful fashion, tells me you're doing me a huge favor and speaks more about yourself than anything you think it might say about me. I still wish you good luck getting your situation resolved, as no one deserves to get ripped off in a transaction. But if you think anything the four of us you name above did anything to warrant being put on a list to not be dealt with -- and if you somehow equate the people asking for more information about your situation or attempting to be helpful with the party you're accusing essentially of theft -- well, I'm questioning if anyone here is "worthy" enough to do business with you in the future.
