  1. Ok, well I guess I'm NOT older than Greggy, but I'm more or less dead inside, so that's something, right?
  2. There's a terrific run of Mike Mignola and Adam Hughes covers towards the end of the series, and I snap them up whenever I see them. I'd imagine the AH covers will take off in time.
  3. Greggy and Hector straight up killin' it. Coppers, picture frames, moderns, such sweet stuff. Greg, that 9.8 Combat Kelly is mind-blowing. Super stuff. I want to be you guys when I grow up! (I suspect I'm older than both of you. )
  4. All good ideas. I think a general rule of thumb of treating creators like people, and not a simple means to an end to get a thing you want (whether it's sig series, a raw sig, a piece of original art, or whatever), is a good idea all around.
  5. I think pretty much all Remender #1's are a good buy, not just for potential value, but they also tend to be great reads. Seems like it's only a matter of time before it all starts getting developed.
  6. And here's where we agree! I don't do SS, but I do occasionally get sigs for my own books. I think that buying something at the table (a comic, a print, whatever) is a great way of breaking the ice and also showing your appreciation for their work, before you hammer them with autograph requests.
  7. So can Galactus mass shift and change his size, or have the various artists over the years just not been able to agree on how tall he is? Kirby's Big G isn't even all that big.
  8. Cool, thanks for the heads up! I have some Rewards Points I can throw at that.
  9. Thread is closed now, thanks everybody! Invoices coming later this morning!
  10. It's one thing to disagree with Starlin's beef with CGC, but to totally dismiss the guy seems disingenuous. He contributed enormously to the Marvel mythos which is still being very lucratively exploited to this day.
  11. Plus, as slabs go, it would display nicely with all of the versions of #1, make a nice wall piece. May do that myself!
  12. I believe it is this generation's "Sandman" in regard to crossover appeal and mainstream penetration. Of course, that could send the book in either direction: 1. Upward, as the readership increases and people desire the "original", or 2. Downward, as most mainstream readers don't care about collectibility. It'll be curious to see how it shakes out. I think long term trade availability killed the value of most Sandman floppies, but the keys are still worth a bit in high grade. Saga may follow that path as well. It'll be interesting to watch.
  13. I think it's also the first instance of this sort of homage to #1, which seems to have become a cottage industry in and of itself. It always sells well for me raw, an easy $5-$10, while the other issues in this run (McF was 1-14, right.) linger in dollar bins. I pick them up when I see them, which isn't often anymore.
  14. Fair point, but I tend to think that media driven books have little to do with who really wants/needs them. The fans have been driving the book up steadily. Add some speculation magic, and suddenly the flippers will be selling them back and forth to each other at inflated rates. It may never come to pass, and I have the one copy I want for my collection, so I don't have a stake in it. But in this hypothetical $1k investing thread, I think it's a safe pick with potentially great upside.
  15. Fine. As I said earlier, I'm done with the conversation, but didn't want you to think I was ignoring you. I respect your position, and I have nothing else to say about it. Cheers.
  16. This is kinda where I'm at with my thinking, but again, I'm adding the caveat that with a media tie-in, it could hit 1k. It's true that there are plenty of them out there, but it's also an insanely popular series. Add a little Hollywood presto, and I think it could hit 4 figures.
  17. Gah, Bolland WW DCU VARIANTS! I already have my complete Bolland WW set, now I have to have all of these too. Curse you!
  18. I'm not trying to troll him, honestly. I just find it baffling. And you yourself are omitting the sentence directly before the one you quoted, which is "The thing that is making an SS book valuable is its condition, not the signature." , which was the part I took issue with. Anyway, I'm done with it. Now, back to pulling your string.
  19. +1 I am all about Saga 1, still don't have an RRP for myself. The book just continues to climb, and eventually Hollywood will come calling. A 9.8 of the regular cover is selling for, what, $400 now? It's really easy to see this becoming a $1k book before long. And I like the idea of the SW books as well, because the potential for movie/merchandise is enormous, and they're all still pretty cheap right now. Good calls on both!
  20. Yeah, I've got a WildCATS newsstand, but still have yet to run across a Youngblood 1. The search continues!
  21. Oh for sure, don't get me wrong, I'm not running out to buy Razor myself. But it was a pretty big story, made the AV Club, and other fan news sites of the like, so it's definitely on the radar right now, whether it actually comes to pass or not.
