  1. Subby in a weird machine to Subby outside a weird machine
  2. Only graded copy (although I think @sagii has a raw copy). Kind of surprising for a WWII cover in a long-running title.
  3. It could be a whole new marketing campaign: "CGC state of the art slabs...Now with 1 % additional material."
  4. My most recent auction win from the last Heritage Signature Auction arrived yesterday after a weird journey through the FedEx system. All due to a smeared and illegible barcode on the label. It was interesting watching the tracking information as a 5-figure comic went from "on truck for delivery" to "attempted delivery: wrong address" to "return to delivery hub" to "barcode illegible" to "on truck for delivery" to "delivered." Now I get to deal with the issue of there being an extra plastic shard inside the slab. Since CGC doesn't provide a free reholder on this problem (even though they created the problem), I'm reaching out to HA and will see if they can offer some help.
  5. Last issue of a Standard Comics title to the same (although not noted on the label)
  6. Thank you, Mike. As a long-time collector yourself, I'm sure this decision doesn't sit very well with you, but as an employee of CGC, I understand that you can only do what you can given the decisions made by upper management. I will reach out to Heritage about either retuning the comic to Heritage as "defective" and requesting a refund or seeing if they will pay the fees for reholdering the comic. Since this was a somewhat expensive comic, those fees will not be insignificant.
  7. Thank you, @CGC Mike. I'm sure others have expressed their concerns on this matter, but I would suggest that you discuss this policy again with the management team at CGC. When a defect is created during a manufacturing process, reputable companies will stand behind their product regardless of who currently owns the product.
  8. @CGC Mike Just want to make sure I understand CGC's policy on contamination and foreign material trapped in the holder. Today I received a comic that I won in the latest Heritage signature auction. It has one of the plastic shards inside the slab. If I understand correctly, since I won the book at auction, I cannot have the comic reholdered as an ME submission because I was not the original submitter. My only options are to see if Heritage will accept it as a return or to have it reholdered at my expense. Is this correct?
  9. Just got a batch of 25 GA books that I subbed to CGC. A few highlights: I have always wanted a Cookeville with Leroy Mackie's signature on the cover. Another Cookeville that came from late in the brothers' collecting lives. Leroy entered the Army in 1950 and the collecting stopped. I don't recall having seen many crime comics in the collection. A few other comics that came back:
  10. I'll add this one for a little comic relief. A long time ago, an amateur restorer decided to "work" on this book. Pieces were added, it was trimmed, cleaned, and a load of other stuff was done, but he drew the line at color touch.
