  1. If I can quote some guy that lurks on these boards, "Glad you enjoyed it. (thumbs u "
  2. This thread is humming. Great books from everyone! Here's one you don't see every day, a Gerber "8" and Overstreet "scarce"... of course Lamont had one.
  3. Jon, very nice. Did you get a chance to go to the exhibit? And if so, how was it?
  4. Beautiful. Congrats Steve. Those are some tough books, I love 5 and 7.
  5. I gotta differ with you on this one, Ronaldo. I think the Burnley Starman covers are some of the most underrated GA covers around. They're great stuff, pure Golden Age. I'd love to see some fellow boardies post some here.
  6. Beauty! For whatever reason, 15 seems harder to come by than other early Supes. Congrats.
  7. Yeah, the kids and the dog love playing with them. Always good to see a book go to a true collector that will appreciate it.
  8. Finally got around to taking some pics over the weekend. Here are a couple of little beauties: I've always loved this cover, Schomburg or not. One of my few Crowleys... Picked this one up from Verzyl in Chicago last summer. I'm just a sucker for Chicago Timelys ( to anyone that have any available)...
  9. No, it's not the Church copy nor is it a 9.4. But it is the Chicago copy of one of the most desirable issues in the entire run and one of Schomburg's most classic covers. It's also scarcer than a hen's tooth. Congrats, Richard! That book is beautiful... what a trophy.
  10. Tough choice. But I will opt for the USA #6. That is just a very very tough book to come by, especially in grade. And I just love that torture device Schomburg's got going. That MMC 13, though, definitely has the eye appeal. What brought the grade down?
  11. Very nice set of books, Slacker. I especially like this one.
  12. 8.5, one grader gave it a 9.0. But it was one of those books that got whacked for a couple of non-color breaking corner creases. I guarantee it could be pressed into a 9.2 or, who knows, maybe more. Ask me if I would ever do that. (apologies for using the "P" word in the GA section)
  13. Thanks, Angelo. I guess we are going to have to wait for the pedigree book to answer that one.
  14. I was going to post this in the "Confessions of a Crack Addict" thread, but figured Timely geeks would get more utils out of this than just a good ol' fashioned crackhead. It was an absolute joy going through this book the other night after I freed it from its synthetic coffin to breathe a little. (Sorry Alan, I just couldn't wait.) It was like sipping a nice glass of scotch. Enjoy!: If you've never seen it, this is what the Olshevsky/Chicago code looks like. It is usually about a third of the way in, on the inside margin: I thought this was a really cool visual when I was flipping through this book:
  15. Very nice book. I was bidding on this one, you beat me by a nose! Congrats. (thumbs u
  16. Now THAT is one killer book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!! I concur. I just hate Timelys with white pages.
