  1. Thank you to all of you for educating me! Lots to learn. I see more clearly now why it was graded as it was. My confusion did come from being uneducated on this topic and looking at some of the others that came back were higher but to me looked worse. I am learning so much from the chat section on cgc. Wonderful resource for newbies. Time to look at ways to sell some of them and choose the ones I am keeping for myself just to keep him with me. Thank you for the kind words about losing my Dad. He was my bestie, we were very close and I certainly do miss him. Working on his comics, at first was brutal but it has become something that brings me joy to be a part of now. He LOVED his comics. Thank you again.
  2. Well he did love his comic books as a boy. Which is why he kept every single one of them. It is too late, I sent in a ton because someone told me to. I still have about 350 more that I won't send in. It is too expensive. But if I change my mind I will definitely will post here before I ship anything. I know so little about all of this and without my Dad's guidance, challenging to say the least. Thank you for that suggestion, I would not have posted if you had not suggested it for the next batch. But I don't think there will be a next batch.
  3. Ok seems a bit more clear now. My Dad would have been quite dismayed by the grade. We had just started the process of packing them up for grading when he got sick and passed away. He waited his entire life to do it, 84 years old. I didn’t get it done in time. So now here I am trying to learn and figure out how y’all do this stuff & what path to take going forward. It is quite interesting and I appreciate such an amazing response with details. Thank you so much
  4. I only have this one pic. grader notes were: creasing to cover spine stress lines to cover staple tears
  5. Submitted for cleaning/pressing/grading. Came back as a 4.0. someone shared I should get the consensus of the group on if the grade is spot on or harsh. What are your thoughts? I am new to this, please be kind in your replies.
  6. I have never posted any of my comics anywhere. This would actually be the first time anyone has seen any of them in any forum. I sent a large amount of them in for grading. Many more are just ok so i have kept those home. These are just two that I thought should possibly be higher, so far. 😀 Most of what I sent in are 5.5 and below so far. There is one 7 in there. They still have about 50 more to grade. Which is why I was looking for a “schooling” if you will. I have watched videos on vintage comics but only general topics on them. I imagine I will start selling some but not sure at this point. They were my Dads. I will look up the videos you shared.
  7. New here. Sent in Black Knight #1 for pressing/cleaning/grading. Received it back with a 4 grade. Grader notes: creasing to cover spine stress lines to cover staple tears Blue Bolt #110 received the same grade Graders notes: staple detached bottom of front cover creasing to cover light cover tanning light staining to cover spine splits to cover spine stress lines to cover My confusion lies within the conundrum of how do these two books have the same grade when one obviously has more defects? I am not whining Simply trying to learn and understand how alL of this works Please be kind in your replies
