  1. +1 There was a herd of zombies coming, so he saved her. This was his attempt to begin righting the wrong of turning away countless survivors from his church to die. I don't think so. I think the house was a trap. Whoever owns that dog nabbed her. He knew that once he lured the zombies to the front door that whoever was there would exit through the back.
  2. The guy's done thousands of pages of art, yet it's generally the same handful of pieces people keep pointing to. I'm not saying there's not plenty of , but there is some good stuff in there that people seem unwilling to give credit to. Looking at Rob Liefeld he really was like a shooting star. He came out like gangbusters in about one years worth of work he created Cable,Deadpool and Domino, then he hasn`t done much since. Really New Mutants 87 to what X-Force 9 was all he really did before he burnt out. So in less then a year in half he hit major homeruns with Deadpool and Cable, but since then has coasted these last 20 years. Yeah, but I don't care for either of those characters. He hasn't created anything good to me.
  3. Question 1 - This crazy rare book was supposed to be packaged with an x-men board game, but ended up making it into the packages, and then offered as a mail-away from the game makers, right? Question 2 - you guys consider this book as a "second print", or a rare reprint/giveaway like the comics they pack with marvel legends figures and such? I would catagorize a 2nd print would have to be for sale to the public, from the distributer,at shops, not reproduced for a toy or game. Question 3 Are second prints all considered "reprints", or does some amount of time have to pass from issue date to be classified a "reprint" , instead of 2nd print, by the collecting public? (I know, apples and oranges, just curious) Cheers ! I can comment on this since I have been studying this particular book for a while now. 1. This book was a mail away but it was also packaged in the board game as well. I know this to be 100% fact because I got one in my board game. They were not "mail away only". I am going to guess that they started as mail aways but then Pressman Games decided to throw their remaining few into the board games as well. 2. I call them "pack-ins". Reprints refer to something else entirelysee question #3's answer. "Giveaway" sounds like you won them. 3. This depends on a couple factors. The biggest one is "Was this a direct copy of the original 297?". Other than the cover's colors being changed, was anything else changed in this book? Are the ads in this variant the same as the ads in the original? If it is exactly the same, then I would call this 2nd print. If anything was changed, like how the Marvel Legends pack-ins included ads for Marvel Legends figures, then it would be a reprint. Also of note are the few other comics Marvel reprinted with different colors on the covers. For example, UXM #282, NM #87, and NM #100, all of which are considered 2nd prints. so who has the rarist "Pack in"?? Lets start a new thread!
  4. +1 These two books shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. On the one hand, you have a timeless, iconic character that's in the same league as Batman and Superman in terms of pop cultural awareness, and impact on the entire hobby, in a million dollar book in a comparable grade (9.6), regardless of how many "under copies" of it exist on the census. And on the other, you have a fad book that has been over valued for a very long time, featuring novelty characters from the '80s that should have gone out along with Garbage Pail Kids. But hey, if you like your Turtles, more power to you. No contest there at all. AF 15 all the way baby. (thumbs u -J. In the 80's Spider-man was a fad. TMNT #1 is the AF 15 of the Copper-Age. It ain't going down anytime soon. "Copper Age"..... the most reviled age of comic books. What's your point? -J. That is what Golden Age generation said about the Silver age generation of books. My point is don't make uneducated remarks about books that are obviously not fads. The only reason TMNT 1 is valued so highly is because of its rarity. Popularity has nothing to do with its price. Look at the Transformers 1 comic with a very successful line of toys and four movies made so far. A 10 dollar book because it is easy to find.
  5. There's already been a turtles movie. How many does it take? And how long will the prices hold? Who will be in more demand 50 years from now?
  6. The past four shows have all been about character development and getting to know more about them. It's hard to fit that into one hour when your fighting zombies and the governor all the time. These types of episodes are needed and I myself have waited three seasons to find out more about Daryl. I say we need more of them!
  7. to the boards Jim! Cool, there are a few people here who haven't hit the ignore button yet! Thanks guys!
  8. Hey guys. I've been here since 2007 and never introduced myself. My name is Jim. I'm a 50 year old introvert, and I weigh 255 pounds and have been losing my hair since I turned 21. My favorite color is white even though technically it's not considered a color. And I'm a Scorpio. But yeah, astrology is for pansies. My psychiatrists agreed that it would be good for me to occasionally talk to real people so here I am. Oh yeah I collect comics.
  9. Call me intrigued. (It will be a nice change from what they usually call me.) :
  10. I finally read issue two and I think this is a great read, It has kind of a "Jason and the Argonauts" feel in a western setting. Having not invested anything in Hoax Hunters, I will be sticking with this book.
  11. I think they've gone through two winters which were passed over. One year, 206 days 14 hours and 22 minutes. That's counting daylight savings time.
  12. I read this book last night and I am loving it so far. Great story and art. I'm bumping this thread because this book is too good to get buried on page 2! Check out the covers to issue 2 and 3, They sure would look nice in a CGC case.
  13. I just found out about this book yesterday in the back of Five Ghosts. I'm liking all the upcoming covers. I came across an old article, and being an EC fan I just have to check it out now.. Q: Are you having them face familiar monsters or inventing some for the series? We're inventing some. Some of them tap into familiar themes, and fans of old EC horror comics could recognize some stuff in there. I looked at American mythological creatures and we put our own spin on it and combined them with other mythological creatures. It's really a mish-mash. http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/2013/07/20/manifest-destiny-comic-book-series-comic-con/2570831/
  14. Ok, I took your advice and back ordered a copy. But I don't know, I mean you can't write a good Archie horror book if the Groovy Ghoulies aren't in it.... Got Sabrina.

  16. Its got the ugly 9.6 cover wrapped around the beautiful 9.8 what a shame.
  17. I could be wrong. Heck I'm always wrong. But I think Andrea is going to pay the piper next week.
  18. One thing I've noticed is they structure this series like a comic book. The Talking Dead is like the letters page to the show. Also the black and white episodes would be considered the "variant" to the regular show.
  19. If there are going to be variants I think I'll pass on this book.
  20. Kirkman said on Talking Dead they had left the prison. He implied that we would see them again, but they are gone. All Kirkman ever does on that show is blow smoke. Has he ever given an honest answer about anything pertaining to a future episode? There was even one point in last nights episode when he interupted Axel because he thought he was giving away too much information.
  21. I'm not even sure Tyrese left. We never saw them leave last week, and you can't rely on Kirkman giving away anything about the show on Talking dead. If he said they left theres a high possibility that they didn't. They were probably not in that episode for budgetary reasons.
  22. I think that it's possible that other zombies helped eat Lori and that one zombie in the room happened to just stay there because it ate so much of her. Otherwise, how would that one zombie have gotten in? Surely others did too and left. And are you referring to the Michonne Gov. fight? I thought that was good writing having the aquarium heads be alive and able to bite them. Helped with the suspense of the scene. Yes I was talking about that scene. The idea of having the heads in the tank is pretty creepy, but that scene with the biting head reminded me of Sam Raimi and all the creepiness was suddenly gone. That's just how it affected me.
  23. You have to admit this season is suffering from some sloppy writing. I don't like the way the zombies are being portrayed either. Last season we had a bloated zombie stuck in a well that looked pretty disgusting, This season we have a fat zombie that ate Lori (bones and all?) and silly looking heads rolling around on the floor trying to bite Michonne. Those two scenes actually had me laughing, although a little confused as to why they would put such scenes in a series that otherwise takes itself quite seriously.. I also don't know the point in adding characters to the show that are killed off before you know anything about them. It almost seems rushed, like they want to do the whole governor thing in one season.
