It is well documented. Not only by the fire marshal, who investigated the cause of the fire. By the local news media who not only took photos of the fire in progress, but video was shown as well. Not only that my wife, was burned and suffered from smoke inhalation. Also we have many photos of afterwards. She lost her entire comic collection. I lost most of mine. I stopped counting after awhile. We lost everything including the entirety of the house. The entire lot of our prior address is an over grown field it burned down nearly completely. Funny thing is, we offered Cal the fire marshal report. He said he knew someone "close to the fire department" and if the fire really happened he would know.Also our pet cat was killed in the fire too. Oh and the Salvation Army..we have proof from them too. They showed up at the scene. We were uninsured, When my wife escaped the house, she was only in a night shirt. They had to give her clothes and shoes they went to get her at the store while she was being treated in the hospital. They gave her a change of clothes and gave us toothbrushes and a towel.

Cal I have been a member of this board for years..have you lost your mind? You know who I am and who I am married to. You have been threatening and harassing my wife for nearly 9 years. Since our house burned down to the ground and a board member unbeknownst to us ..started a fundraiser on our behalf. We were homeless. My wife has given you proof and answered every question and you have responded with threats to stalk and harass her. Why does this board condone your behavior? You give out her personal information to people. You slander and libel her. By proxy you are calling me a liar too. Do I have to post the pictures again? One of the worst days of our lives and you keep trolling us and bullying us about it. What is wrong with you? You know as well as a lot of this board knows who my wife is...and you need to shut your lying mouth. I married her during Chicago comic con at our wedding with SKYPINKBLU there as well as Catrick and many other members of this board. The moderation of this board needs to take notice of your attacks on my wife. This is NOT okay. here here is a picture of our kitchen and bathroom. Say it did not happen again, you liar.

Oh and if Anyone wants the truth ..there is an empty lot where our house used to be and our cat..Scrooge who died in the fire is buried there..We lost everything..I know you love to belittle that..my wife was in the emergency room and hospital for smoke inhalation and burns.. I could post pictures of the house burning..local news reports and a fire marshal's report it amazes me how Cal is such a small man the only way he can fell like a big man is to bully a woman who has been in the hospital most of the past two years. Especially, since that woman,being my wife..is telling the absolute truth and Cal is a big fat liar who loves to libel and slander people.

If I can make it any clearer stop it.. My wife has been not even on this board but you are so desperate for attention you call her out of her name at every chance even though we have explained it to you and the powers that be here.. You have threatened us enough get a new gig..

Cal you are a liar our house did burn down we still live in the apartment we moved into after being homeless for a year.. That is sad to hear Hepcat..over the years my wife has talked about your cat pals often. You and Jimmers are the board's crazy cats I guess. You can take heart that the cat has probably had the most fun a cat could ever have. Some cats/critters never know that kind of loving care.

Before I ever thought about becoming a collector (I was 15 or so) my oldest brother was collecting. In '68-69, I believe, he invited me to walk with him to one of the stores that he shopped for comics (about a 3 mile trek round trip). This was an old store in KC that dealt in paper goods... men's mags, paperbacks, comics, legal forms, etc. When I first walked into the store, all that I could do was notice that rich pulp aroma. Well, to make a really long story not quite as long, my brother bumped into a bundle of ASM 28s. He broke the bundle and picked thru to get one of the best MINT copies from the center of the stack. Of course, the worst part of the story is that since I didn't collect at that time, I didn't buy anything. And the cost of each of these books? HALF of cover price!

I actually have several of the "White Ants"... they were almost all "funny books" that survived. I hate to think what comics were devoured by the termites.

The Coordinator sounds so impressive did you get a costume or at least a cape ? Sounds like a super-hero title "She's organized, impressive, she's The Coordinator" You know she made me say that right?

From drskull9 on ebay? I remember him describing that bizarre find. skypinkblu probably does too. I bought constantly from him back in the day, at least on the rare occasions when Sharon didn't outbid me. Jack PS: Was there more than one "White Ants" collection or are we talking about the same one? Your description says CA. Maybe more than one seller had them -- drskull9 sells out of PA, I believe. The collection didn't belong to Doc..they were Lu's from CA. It's the same one..Small world..if you know them you probably know me and the missus..

The "white Ants" are a group of comics and toys that were discovered in a sealed-off room of a basement in Oakland CA about 10 years ago. There were two boxes of comics... one stacked upon the other, with a YIELD sign between the two. It seems that termites had eaten all of the books in the box that had contact with the floor, but the top box was saved. Most of the comics in the top box were pretty nice. This was one of those comics. They were dubbed "white Ants" by the new owners. I would not call them a true pedigree, but a collection that deserved some type of recognition.

BTW... many beautiful books posted in this thread! I generally collect mainly "reader" copies, but have a few higher grade Ducks books in the Gold Key label.

Many thanks to the Welcome Wagon for the wttb... I have been reading some of the threads for some time, off and on. Also, thanks to Duffman for the info on the German Book Club info.(Why didn't I think to google it? ) (thumbs u( It reads, to me, as the earlier issues were limited to 300 copies, not sure where the break-point was, and the later issues were 500? Also, my wife tells me to say Hi to Porcupine!

Can anybody give me any info on this item? I have a set of 8 or so different that are in a run... that I purchased several years ago.
