  1. Only book I had my eye on in the auction. When the bid hit $1800, I logged out and went to my room and cried. Final hammer with BP was a hair south of $2400.00
  2. Sort of recent additions (a few months old at least) to my HOF run:
  3. Thanks to FFparamedic for getting me this one! Hatch, Benedict and Lockhart.
  4. Creature ... Julie (or Julia, depending on the day) Adams and Ricou Browning
  5. I may have gotten this from a fellow Boardie, not sure. I'm sure some of you hard cores will know. If so, it may already be posted, and my apologies if it is. Anyway, I picked it up off FeeBay. I had recently been wanting to get a Cardy-signed book as well one signed by Anderson. Instead I got this two-fer.
  6. The Monkees, highest graded. I'm really happy to have this one! A BIG thanks to Chris (comix4fun). Tork, Dolenz, Nesmith, Bobby Hart (Boyce & Hart) and Valerie Kairys Venet (recurring guest role on the show)
  7. Ricou Browning, the last surviving Universal Studio's monster. Only graded copy. Ricou is a really laid back guy, and in really great shape. Says he swims in the bath tub to keep toned.
  8. Some really, really sweet books are showing up here! I'm glad to see that EC is finally getting some love again! When I get time, I'll post mine. This thread is bringing tears of joy to my eyes. Thanks to jimjum for initiating!
  9. It's probably been said before in the thread, but it's like this with most television series. It takes time for the characters to develop and the actors to fit into their roles, and the writers coming in to make the most of it. It's an ensemble for sure, and the ensemble is starting to hit on all cylinders. Earlier in the thread, I mentioned that I thought Bill Paxton brought a lot to the show, and it seems in retrospect that the show grew from there. He had a lot of face time and plenty of lines, and he did his job impressively. Maybe his coming on board, and his character helped steam roll the cast and the crew into believing. Maybe not, but these last half dozen or so episodes had me glued to the screen. Before I watched just hoping the show would survive. I sort of hated to see Garret go down.
  10. Just bring your books for signing. I'll have paperwork, or any other facilitator that might be present should also. You can submit under the facilitator's account if you don't have one. I don't blame you for being a little nervous about it since it's your first time. Find your facilitator or witness before you do anything with signatures. Any one of us will help you through the process and to get it done correctly.
  11. I hope Paxon at least has periodic recurring roles. He was definitely the star of the last episode and his character certainly has a great dichotomy about it; like he could slowly stick a knife in you while having a beer with you at the same time - all smiles - and you are just happy to be a part of it. And soon Lady Sif enters the scene ...
  12. I hope your store has a facilitator or a deal with CGC of some kind to act in such a manner or they will all come back GLOD. +1 ... make absolutely sure they have arrangements with CGC in advance.
  13. Just to add ... you are not required to submit to CCS for pressing to retain the yellow label. I know Joey Post can do this also, and there might be a very few others that are allowed to press and retain yellow label books.
  14. Voted ... man, this was one of the toughest decisions. I'd take either sketch and call it a winner!
  15. Somehow I struggle through the soapiness, but it's worth it for the action sequences and overall plot. Just wait until we find out that Moira is actually Malcolm Merlyn's sister. That would be tops, and the cast then could do the Maury Povich show.
  16. Offering up a number of modern Yellow Labels (GFTs, Lady Death, Before Watchmen, GotG, and some others). JR JR, Bendis, Straczynski, Hughes, one Campbell (yes the Gamora cover), and more. Link
  17. Wow ... that was quick! Congrats!! Todd usually spends more time picking a pen color and placement than his signature, and certainly takes care when signing.
  18. +1 It seems the producers (and writers) are more interested in developing characters and keeping it internalized within SHIELD. Maybe they feel it is necessary to develop the character interactions to establish a basis, but they could do that over the long haul. Prime example where this worked wonderfully is ST Next Gen. I think the show needs known Marvel villains that work into story arcs. Many here have said this. Bad guys - with top notch acting - are what separates mediocre shows from great shows. If SHIELD continues to chase machines bent on destroying the world, instead of the baddies that want to own or control the world, they just create alternate versions of CIA plots.
  19. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC) 7.15 million viewers/2.5/7 share Arrow (CW) 2.80 million viewers/1.0/3 share Game. Set. Match. The Marvel Money Machine rolls on! Respectfully, you are comparing apples to oranges. A cable network like the CW is not a major television network like ABC in terms of broader and deeper viewership pool and promotional support. More important, prime time on a major television network like ABC on a Tuesday evening is EXPENSIVE commercial time. Commercial time on the CW isn't close to what advertisers pay to be on ABC during prime time on a Tuesday night. The big advertisers that have paid top dollar for 30 seconds on MAOS aren't getting the bang for their buck based on recent ratings. Conversely, advertisers on Arrow aren't paying as much for the 30-second slots that they would on ABC, but they're still getting good audience ratings to justify repeat purchases of the commercial time at the price CW wants to charge. I'm a huge Marvel fan and I want MAOS to crush it. But the numbers continue to slide downward, and, honestly, is any of us surprised? At the current rate of audience decline, ABC will start to consider if they can put another program on that can draw more viewers than MAOS does to justify the top advertising dollar they want to charge. And then that's when the spectre of cancellation starts to come into the network program execs' minds. "After opening in September to a big 4.7 rating in adults 18-49, “SHIELD” has declined with its next six original episodes: 3.3, 2.9, 2.8, 2.7, 2.5 last week and now a 2.2." http://variety.com/2013/tv/news/agents-of-shield-hits-another-low-as-nbc-cbs-top-tuesday-1200826817/# Maybe this was discussed in the thread earlier, but network execs that put just about any show up against NCIS in prime time should expect it to fail in gaining a major share of viewership. It has killed that time slot since forever, and NCIS invariably finishes in the top five/ten ratings weekly. While I like MAOS, I know it has its issues. I want it to do well. If it doesn't, well then, we're back to the same dismal soap operas disguised as "Sci-Fi/Adventure" in television, which I presume most here do not care to watch (think "Once Upon a Time"). Failure of MAOS means moth balling any attempts by the major networks to give us something comic related with real quality. My
  20. Wow! Love that EJ and Fred Jackson. Great job pulling that off! I sure don't want to derail the discussion, but thought I'd post this one. The rules are lone, highest grade. There are only three SS of this book on census, all at 9.8, but since I have all three, I thought it would be okay to post.
  21. Hoarder Seriously though, lots of awesomeness there
