  1. Indeed He added some charm & charisma to Magneto I actually can't blame him for fighting against the humans. I thought Fassbender captured Magneto's anger and traumatic experiences much better than McKellen. To me that's important, because Magneto's almost force-of-nature rage really drew me into the very earliest Lee / Kirby X-Men stories. Agreed Magneto is one of my favorite Marvel villains Unlike most villains,he has a good reason to hate humans. Blech...tacked on hoo hah. I can fogive a lot of Claremont's sins because he did so much good stuff...but ruining Magneto... When I read the Lee / Kirby stories as a kid I was always puzzled about why Magneto was so relentlessly angry and hostile. The backstory gave him an understandable reason for believing that a strong attack is the best defence, and that all non-mutants are completely irredeemable. Not saying I agree with his conclusion, though. All the krap that Claremont tacked on via retcons was his attempt to give the X-MEN their version of Doctor Doom...an honorable villain. Except that Magneto is far more interesting than Dr. Doom. How would you know? I didn't think you read comics

It came out of nowhere and didn't follow anything that had come before..in other words, inorganic growth. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this, but I much prefer the pure evil Magneto who was driven by nothing more than dreams of conquest, power and revenge. Sometimes bad people are just bad people. Not every bad person was locked in a closet, beaten by their parents..etc etc.
  3. I grew up on the All New All Different X-MEN, so those are my favorite...but I absolutely love the first run of the series. Cyclops was my favorite character for a long time before he was turned into a doosh
  4. I love the original X-MEN and think it's a great concept. The Thomas / Adams issues sold well enough to keep publishing new issues, but in those days it took 6 months or more to get sales data. It sold well enough, but by the time they realized it they had already decided to cancel it and at the last minute made it a reprint title. At least that's what I've read and heard from various sources.

  6. But it is a fantasy story. And the characters are what readers attach themselves to. If the central characters all die there is nothing left. I agree for the most part. Though I do think a death can certainly shake things up. I can still remember how I felt when Marvel Girl / Phoenix died in X-MEN 137 or Guardian bought it in Alpha Flight 12.
  7. I'm not expressing an opinion on this copy, but are you saying that, if it's the nicest copy, it's a 9.8? That's the impression you're giving, but I'm sure that's not what you're intending. That is exactly what I am saying. I am assuming that the defect is considered a printing defect. It can't be completely ignored as some printing defects are, because it is atrocious. In the event that there are copies where the printing defect does not actually damage the paper (as most of the examples are tears) they are the 9.8s. It is consistent with the way they treat other printing defects. I don't like seeing those mutated abortion miswraps, or King Kong nutsack creases in 9.8 slabs, but everyone says "Oh its a printing defect." Why should this be different? It shouldn't be treated any different IMHO as I believe they're fairly consistent when it comes to printing defects ( please correct me if i'm wrong). In the old days before the 10 point scale...this probably would've been a vf/nm. It's been a long time, but IIRC we didn't treat printing defects any different than other kinds of defects.
  8. I did have them signed. BUHAHAHAHAHA By Huge Jack Man? No(I wish though) I had them signed by Marc Silvestri. I like Silvestri. He's my second favorite Wolverine artist of all time. Right behind Yu. Drawing the character or the title?
  9. Forgive and forget eh? More like, let him cast the first stone ... I don't want to get into an argument with you because he sells books that you like, but that argument is ridiculous on it's face.
  10. When did you start collecting ToD? Last time I checked, Wolverine doesn't even make a guest appearance
  11. Not even that horrid poster can ruin my love for that era of X-MEN.
  12. When did you start collecting HG SA? When I get more $$$$ I think I get it....you don't want Greggy buying up all the supply before you're ready to jump in.
  13. When did you start collecting HG SA?
  14. Nope. You can also have CGC books shipped back via FedEx. I use it a lot because you get the books back faster (2-3 days vs. a week or more for USPS Registered Mail). It costs a little more but to me it's worth it to get the books back sooner. The fastest way to get books back from CGC is to pay for Fast Track with FedEx return shipping. That's what I do (thumbs u
  15. I have a feeling, if this is off to CGC , I will no longer have the only 9.8 . Sell yours now and then buy his on the cheap (thumbs u
  16. I'm not making an accusation, but something seems a bit off if you look at the number of bids and the low feedback numbers those bidders have. Not too long ago I sold a 9.6 OW/W for $350 and less than 2 weeks after that someone sold a 9.6 W for $250. I can't believe the Thanos fever has gotten even hotter then since right after the Avengers movie
  17. If they ever make a Human Fly movie, you're screwed.
