  1. Many years ago I had my store listed as a submission drop off centre. Eventually I asked CGC to take me off. Honestly, it's mostly a hassle and there's no real money in it. Most customers only want to submit one or two books but understandably don't want to pay the shipping that would entail (minimum $60 USD charge coming back). So you have to pool enough books from enough different customers together so everyone saves on shipping. Sometimes that takes some time to get enough books together. CGC has also stopped pooling together different tiers into one shipment (at least for international, not sure for US) so you also have to get a bunch of books all on the same tier. But honestly the biggest headache was people not being happy with their grades or the turnaround times or the costs and me being the focal point for their unhappiness. I just got tired of apologizing for something that I had no control over. Recently I've started doing customer submissions again but I've taken to pre-screening potential submitters. Just to be clear I'm not commenting on Paradise or trying to explain any of what's happened here. I have known Peter for nearly 20 years and have never had a bad experience with him. Obviously others here sadly can not say the same but I'm hopeful it will get worked out. Just adding my as to reasons why more stores in Canada don't do submissions.
  2. This insufficiently_thoughtful_person just hit another one of my Buy it Nows with a different user id: chrismacdonald_85 Same name, same paypal account, same mailing address. I just don't get what he's trying to accomplish. thank you. Blocked both i.d.'s I blocked both, but now are invalid user id's so perhaps ebay caught on to this person. I just blocked: modern.pop (11 whole feedback) after he extorted me on a Skybound 5th anniversary color set. He was unhappy I put tape on the outside of the box (didn't think anyone collected the box quite honestly) so I prioritied another box to him (using bubble wrap this time) and then he stated he didn't receive it. Showed ebay all the evidence and they removed his hasty negative and stated to block him. His extortion was through ebay messages basically stating $15 refund or a neg coming with some other comments. Stuff like this makes me want to stop selling all together. cmacd85 is now macddaddy85 chrismacdonald_85 is now jcmd1985 ericw85 is NARU I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with ebay to get the negative feedback removed. They obviously did nothing about his shilling, scamming, and all the rest. Ebay told me that he himself closed the ericw85 account. They have left the other two there untouched. Agreed that this makes me want to stop selling all together. It's bad enough getting scammed. It's worse when you catch the guy, ebay confirms he has been caught, and then they do nothing to stop him.
  3. How's the copyright issue any different than with the comic itself? Honestly I don't know whether this is kosher or not so I googled to see what's what and found this: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/03/20/ebay-bans-digital-comic-code-selling-unless-you-are-careful/ If it really does contravene ebay policy then I'm all for having one more thing to throw at this guy.
  4. Here's a neutral feedback that jackwagon received as a seller himself last year: From: Buyer: d***a (215): Product came great but severely overcharged shipping & didn't respond to emails. Reply by cmacd85 (21-Nov-14 03:15): Was charged $10.95 and shipping cost $10.20. How was this "severely overcharged" Follow-up by d***a (21-Nov-14 10:58): Shipping was 2.95, want me to post a screen shot of the shipping sticker? I saw that too. He's left a fair amount of bad feedback for other sellers also about being overcharged. There's even one other case of him leaving a negative for an order that was cancelled twice by the seller. He's a real piece of work!
  5. Is that not allowed? Tons of people are doing that. Either way, the guy on the phone from eBay was actually pretty helpful. He says it's obvious Chris MacDonald is circumventing eBay policy. I just have to wait and see what their "appropriate reaction" is. I was told to call back in 72 hours if I'm not happy with the result.
  6. And he's at it again! Here is the third one of his accounts: ericw85 I cancelled the order from his 2nd account and relisted the item. 30 minutes later he buys it again with the third account. Different mailing address this time (about 5 minutes away from the first though - I googled it). But same name, same paypal account. The third account has 2 feedback from, you guessed it, the first account! I don't know what I have done to deserve this guy's affection. Is this really all because he thinks I overcharged him by $4 on shipping? This third time now he negs me from the third account for cancelling the order for no reason. I've reported all his accounts to ebay but I get the feeling that doesn't work so well so I gave them a call to plead my case. The guy on the phone was able to confirm all 3 accounts log in and bid from the same computer. They have opened an investigation and will "take appropriate action". That action better be removing this garbage feedback from my profile and launching Chris MacDonald into the sun.

  8. I see now that this guy is already on the 'avoid sellers' list. You can add him to the blocked buyer list also. cmacd85 This pile of garbage won a copy of Civil War #1 Inhumans Bradshaw variant from me. I mailed it. He says he never got it. Ebay gave him his money back. This was July 2015. He said he had been on vacation for two weeks. I mailed the book letter mail (no tracking). He lives in an apartment building. I assume the package would not fit in his mail slot, having lived in many apartment buildings in my life. I also assumed it was either left with his super, in front of his door, with a neighbor, or who knows what else. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he won another of my auctions this week. He admitted last week that he had had "many" packages lost in the mail at his building so he has signed up for a service that holds all of his mail at the PO. I shipped him the book (a campbell variant of extraordinary x-men). He receives it in 2 days. He neutrals me for overcharging him on shipping. He paid $5 US for shipping. I paid $2.95 CDN + tax to ship it. Plus the cost of the bubble mailer. Plus the cost of the other packing supplies. Plus ebay's fees. I perhaps 'overcharged' him by 80 cents. I responded to his neutral to argue my case and learned he is also the lovely kind of troll who then felt the need to respond again. For the cherry on top I notice now he has this listed for sale: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/221932189226?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  9. Very cool. Man how the printing industry has changed with technology. How many people who worked in this plant were made obsolete by computers?
  10. The book is indeed perfectly centered. It is super nice. As for being a keeper, well, not for me. I'm in the business of buying and selling so this one is up on one of the prominent auction sites right now. If I kept all the good books we'd have nothing left to sell! The only thing I collect for myself is ACG Herbies. Just won a sweet piece of Herbie OA on ebay last night actually
  11. I have lurked for a while but felt this was a reasonable book to start with I'm sure some people here know me. (waves at Roy)
  12. I have learned what it feels like to win the lottery. Thought this was a strong 9.6 but lo and behold!
