It's called protecting your brand. It's being very diluted right now.

This has been going on for years. If it wasn't for variants I wouldn't own half the universals that I do.

What dilutes and hurts the brand is Marvel rebooting every 6 months.

Don't confuse collecting covers for art with readership. By producing more and more of these it dilutes the hobby away from its foundation.

While I'ill agree that the publishers have gone a little variant crazy lately, if it’s making them and stores money I can’t fault them for it.

    Batman 50 not a 100 issue just a 50.

Maybe just a 50 but it is a special issue that has been building for most of King's run and it will have media attention drawn to it.

Collect them or don't, at the end of the day it's about what makes you happy.

I like Jock's Action 1000 cover but not fond of this one, don't recall Bruce Wayne ever doing this. I guess it's so you can put it with his Action cover.

I've already ordered a Jim Lee but like the Sanders, Louw, Fabok and Mann covers as well.

Still hoping a Tim Sale variant gets announced.

Real life has been busy. After almost three years without a sketch, I’m finally getting back into it.

Ashley Witter and Marat Mychaels from Phoenix this past weekend.

Ryan Kincaid from ACE Phoenix in January. It’s already slabbed but this is the only pic I have right now.

Incredible pieces! I always like seeing Catwoman sketches.

  5. The market has gone variant crazy but we're also getting some incredible cover art right now. Naturally people are going to be drawn to it and companies are going to push what's hot.

I don't see as many people collecting runs as in the past. Seems like now it's about getting the hot issues and the trade. That could just be my group of friends though.

  6. I keep seeing my name. lol

The Type-R trim level is considered luxury so they don't sell them based off MSRP especially when they first come out and demand is high. They're also no where near as in demand as they've been in the past so you shouldn't have trouble finding one for close to MSRP.

Midtown has the right to make money of an in-demand item, especially if the item already shipped and they found extras. Now If the trend continues in the future, there are other places where i can spend money.

By the way - prices are dropping like a rock.  See quite a few $150 - $175 BINs.  I'm assuming some are doing a drop ship after getting a sale for $150 since they can still buy it for $120.

Update - see a $125 BIN now up for grabs.  I bought in at less then $100 so its all good.  Those $250 buyers must being hating it.

Just like the Harley Pink variant.

It'll be interesting to see how the market reacts once graded copies start showing up.
